"Ah, that seems like a fine party. I'd love to join up and venture into the fields again! Sadly my last venture there was cut short." Siercon said. Siercon signs up for the fields of glory

Thanks guys, both great very helpful! I'll save'm to my phone and fiddle with the numbers. Definitely a huge leap forward on one of the major 'daunting parts'. -
Same! always love some spice, otherwise it can be rather repetitive. "__ Signs up for __" x 50. I think it might be helpful to have a second thread as you said, however the first page has most of the general information required, I'd almost see a happy medium being to simply add the handful of equations i was just given in the thread to that front page. (Super helpful by the way guys thanks!)

Siercon intently copied the arm gesture in return, and casually took a seat back at the table, hoping to catch more unusual words from Zannaqin.
-
"I could tell you... far more..." Siercon said hesitantly, truly seeming to have much more information. "Interested?" he finished off in a whisper. Siercon allowed a good pause before continuing in a more hushed manner. ... Whispering so only the close in proximity could hear, Siercon started..."Harboring hate for all of mankind or creators in general is too broad, and will get you killed. But if you would like somewhere to start here are two words friend. 'Tritech Corporation'. They build airships, they build battle automata, and they stand under a banner of yellow, lime, and blue, decorated with the insignia of a trident. One would find that they are closely connected with the Ji Pei house... Who by chance are members of the Crescent Union. Rumor has it that a house war is brewing... I only mention this in case you find it helps in choosing your house and union... wisely... and gives you a good place to start asking questions... not taking heads. Again, I caution you. Hold rage loosely. Because, as I showed before; Automata are in a great many places, and used and corrupted by a great many ill willed people. So be diligent to find your facts out, and note... ... if you ever end up hurting good people like Tritech's Nicole Tesla... I will destroy you." Siercon ended with a wink, a sly smile, and a pat on the shoulder... For the last part of his speech, he didn't hold back his blacked aura from both his Darkphibbian Cloak, and Immortal Essence. Combined with his black smoke figure, he really was like a 'little black rain cloud' hovering over the honey tree...(Pooh reference)... "If you don't know what to believe, we can find out together. For now... Self control and facts... Agreed?" Siercon ended with a gentle query and stopped with only the two requests, thinking that perhaps adhering to more than those two might prove difficult or over annoying for the new hero...

Heroica RPG - Quest Masters' Lounge
Siercon and Coral replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Is there a convenient thread that could guide me to formulas on how to scale monster lvl and health for a party? Or should I just try to use other successful battles as skeletal examples? I'm trying to start with creating some super small light hearted quest, but the biggest unknown for me is creating enemy statistics beyond the cute square picture -
"Apologies, my jokes are not to make light in the memory of your suffering. My name is Siercon. As for your mechanical men, they are not only created by humans. They have been created by many, even those beyond our stars. In fact from what you describe, it is possibly more likely they are related to the species Invader Kaz led against us." (Quest #122) "Giz was that crazy Taco bot's name right Lind?" "No, I'm sad I have not before, but would like to learn more. If it would help... feel free to speak easy, and laugh if words I try are bad?" Siercon put an inflection on the last bit as to phrase it as a question. Siercon simply smiled at her.

Siercon took the chair Jinnipher refused, and sat back lazily watching Link and Addok-Zo Obbex exchange. "Ah, Peacocks posturing! Lovely... And by that, I mean 'they' *Cough* are the size of a pea." Siercon said flippantly squinting towards their waist area through his magnifying glass. Snapping it back into his bag he finished. "Anyways, run along now, tell us who comes out on top. Dibs on the losers shoes." Siercon smacked Lind on the shoulder. He knew Lind would take the fake jibes as harmless as they were, but was curious to see how the new grizzled orcish fellow would respond... "Oo, perhaps a team bout!" Siercon said with fake excitement. "Jinn and Addo Zo Bo can be team In-stink with a yellow banner, Lind and Annie can be the red team of Valor!, and Marshwiggle here, with me as the burnt puff of smoke will be in the blue corner all mystic like." Siercon figured his words didn't really make much sense, but focused on fluidly speaking them quickly, grasping for witty rather than wise. Sometimes it's more fun to say random stuff with quick fluid confidence, than to stutter out epic truth. Besides, it seemed like "Terry" over there has the right idea for such a peaceful day...
-
Siercon notably smiled. "Apologies, Juniper." he said relinquishing his seat and offering it to Jinnipher. "I merely wish to join, not intrude." He smiled to himself noting the seat he had pulled out for her was directly next to Lind. A match made in heaven... "As for the Venom. I have no current intentions, and wasn't hoping to make any today... tomorrow perhaps?" Siercon noted casually. "Ah no sorry, I am not a keeper-of-weapons-blade unless I was the one who did it..." he noted letting the topic slide, but catching the topic before it grew. "Perhaps you are looking for the word 'bleed'. Are you saying that your weapons cause lots of red blood to pour from your enemies...?" Siercon noted the gnarly barbs on his spear which caused bleeding.
-
Siercon chuckled. These kind of awkward interactions made his day. And if they were particularly good, they would make his week. He always had a motto or passive goal... "Be there, or ideally be the one to catch, all the embarrassing moments." There was nothing evil or black-mailish about it. He just figured what good is an embarrassing moment if no one was there to laugh... including, truly, though honestly less ideally, the ones that happened to him. So he watched.
-
Haha, and I think the same would go for her as well...
-
"Ah, drat!" Siercon makes a futile wave at the parchment as he seemingly prematurely released it and it escapes him... "It will come back." He says to Zanna. "When it does, you should grab it, sign your name on it, and you could win some nice things." Siercon did not notice Arthur standing in the corner, but wondered where he was... Siercon inspected the dagger carefully noting that it was indeed Arthurs... and twirled it in his hand. Showing either some familiarity with this exact dagger, or a proficiency in knives...(which he did not have). "Arthur is indeed a great warrior, and Generous. I doubt you're the first he has given even this exact dagger to aid in battle with before. treasure it, it may be small, but it has fallen dragons and angels." He said respectfully returning the blade. Noting Lind, he decided to interject an introduction. "Lind, Zanna; Zanna, Lind" He supplied complete with hand motions and pulling out a seat for Lind.
-
Siercon watched the discourse... he liked puzzles. And people translating ideas and concepts into their own language was a favorite for him. It seemed to make life simpler... black and white. "No, green one. Your venom is not as good as that. She only wanted the big venom like this one." Siercon pulled out his everlasting venom to show her the difference in the bottles and consistency. "This doesn't come off... ever." He said motioning to his spear. "Haha, no. She meant him." he said. "It means... " He hesitated, this concept was a rather hard one to break down simply...
-
Siercon watched as the various guild members broke off into twos leaving the green and green newcomer alone. Siercon approached. "Welcome, it is always an honor to see new faces in our midst. My name is Siercon." He said with a voice that didn't match the blacked aura. He held out his hand for a handshake and sat down... curious how the new one would respond. "And that there is a fine dagger indeed. May I see it?" He asked politely with a gesture. He secretly poised the question ironically as he had wielded it quite often, and not too long ago...

Heroica RPG - Quest Masters' Lounge
Siercon and Coral replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Quest 147 and 'Siercon History' *****Siercon:****** Years back, Heroica was my first experience ever playing a rpg (in the realm of story telling/dnd, not video games etc.). I did what many rpg noobs do, and essentially make my character 'my character'. In this case, Siercon is a character in a fantasy book Steph and I are writing who was essentially Child prodigy gone evil, and at some point redeemed, and starting from ground zero trying to do things the right way, even though he's more effective doing them the wrong way. Basic character traits, manipulative, sly, oddly honest, trickster, quiet/watching, adoptive of others, outside of the box. And then add all the dichotomies of being in both a good and evil position... Kind vs Cruel etc. Long and short, I had no clue what I was doing, and never realized how hard it would be to play a character who is a combination of stuff that takes thousands of pages to cohesively meld together, as well as doing it all through his person. As he can often be a quiet introvert who would rather watch and wait in most scenarios participating can be hard. That combined with all the back story which many new players want to make more important than the current story, left me playing this quiet aloof uninvolved, character. Oh and then I made things worse by making him a shadow wraith with no facial features. (Stupid move) So "Siercon smiled at __ in gratefulness" just seems odd. lol. Anyways, I often find myself reading the posts of others and thinking "how would Siercon respond?".... well he wouldn't, he doesn't actively care, other peoples pain/circumstance is covered over by hyper logic, and interaction while on a mission is something he usually avoids. On top of this he's essentially a projection/shadow from another planet, so he doesn't care about the world either, or death for that matter. (This is changing (see below)) For all of this I apologize to everyone. Main apology, is not breaking enough of the pre-character conceptions to make it fit more with the game. Here are things I'm in efforts to change contrary to actual character build. Edited Character traits -Insert facial expressions. (If i have to express how Siercon is feeling one more time, using hand gestures or shoulder shrugs... ) -Treat 'mission mode' as 'hang out mode.' (Siercon verbally shuts down on missions unless he goes into commander mode. BS for rpg. I'm inserting communication more fit for 'around a campfire' for more activity. -Siercon is now autonomous and views his life as not controlled by the originals elsewhere in some deep sleep, but as his own. And will fight to keep it. (Thus the life threads, unlike most heroes, his connection is literally lost if life threads are cut by KO.) Thus care for this world. Any ways, since starting Heroica I've played a bunch of DnD and been DM often, And how much nicer it would have been to start with a completely off the wall character like an "octopus archer with a superiority complex." But we live and we learn. But at the same time, I owe it to Heroica for starting me down this path. So thank you all. ******Quest 147****** Loot I had lots of fun. A long time prior to starting this quest I had only perused one of endgames quest and had come to the conclusion that his monsters were ridiculously hard and loot was minimal. I respected that, as often in dnd I give out too many goodies cause people have 'more fun' (but that then end up creating some broken DnD world which needed a more level headed, non player pleasing master...) So this is what I expected jumping in. So I didn't find the loot lacking. And I expected the crazy bad guys. I expected to die many times... haha Bad guys I had fun with them all. It was slightly bothersome to try arguing with all 'highly intelegent' bad guys who were also benevolent, but unwilling to change their beliefs. But this I just accepted as a story element and decided they were brainwashed and had to die. IRL I feel like a compromise could have been made between smart people, but treated it as a story element, and just resorted to wanting to kill'm for their bad logic and thus thier actions. So I'd slightly agree with Flipz on the opinion of the bad guys, but it didn't bother me as much cause I saw it as "It's needed for the story" and just accepted what leaps i thought needed to be made. I'm sad Charon is dead, he was my favorite enemy in the sense that he could be 'cool headed' but also snap. Also... I wanted to take his staff... but I'll be happy with his wings dilapidated as they are. Middle quest argument about love and post crossing I hope every one is good now. I only have two thoughts on the subjects. One, it can be easy to wonder if the characters portrayed in the game have any underlying truth to the player behind them. I think that might have been a subtle reason certain people took offense at stuff said, and things said about them. Consider if this is the case and if there is a IRL concern, maybe it can be be brought up an a PM like "Hey buddy, do you really believe this?" otherwise, it's all in character. Like, I'm gonna assume JimBee is not a bitter elvish punk jerk. (lets hang out sometime) Maybe I'm way off base, but I hope that stuff wasn't taken personal, and if it was, that honest conclusions were made. None of us want to find out that the next hitler was playing heroica and we missed some genuine character flaws covering them up as "In character"... but at the same time the other extreme is important to avoid and far more likely. Cross posting. We say stupid stuff in life all the time. Most of the funny stories revolve around it, as well as some of the most painful ones. Since this is a game, we can make all the "Stupid things said" forcibly be in the funny category. Just hold stuff loosely. I made this error when i thought Lind was bribing for the loot. And where this isn't the same thing as cross posting, i think a lot of headache can be avoided by just being the first one to let go, realize it really doesnt matter in the grand scheme of things, and have fun. :) Ultimately, I consider you all my friends IRL and screw your characters and along with mine ;) They are tools in a community, and pieces of a game board. And through watching all of you play, I've learned to be a better player, I just personally need to start giving back more to my roots, you guys. Thanks. Story I enjoyed the the direct path that it took, while breaking off for individual adventures. Definitely my favorite type of set up as 'open world' is rather impossible to do in lego and with heroica. I learned a bunch and had lots of fun. Karie: Great job being party leader. We had at times a tumultuous party, and you played a great leader while being a self sacrificing minstrel and good loot distribution. We didn't have any major tests of you being the final say on major plot decisions, but I felt that your play would have done them well regardless of whom was on the losing side. Thromanil(Arx): It's gotta be hard writing for two, but i almost feel like Siercon knows Arx more. not saying this as a critique, more just that both you and arx go hand in hand really well. Lind: I feel like you have the one of the fastest post triggers. Sometimes a double edged sword, but for the most part, it's something I need to learn from people like you and Flipz. Lind gives me this vibe of saying what he thinks without thinking too long about it. Obviously this can get harped on, but from a rpg stand point, what is the game without people talking... otherwise you're left with a room full of siercons... Jinnipher: Your a jerk, Siercon is really looking forward to hacking the puzzle of being your friend. Siercon finds Jinnipher confusing, and yet very intriguing.. he still isn't sure what will make them friends. Being intelligent, or punching her in the face. Personally I like that oddity, and hope that minor cracks in her shell are found ever so slowly. Otherwise if she turns out to be completely static, Siercon might just get a headache from being in the same room. Vindsval: I like how much Vindsval says without seeming chatty. Your play style in using his narration or long sentences to talk but also describe things, is something I'm going to try to mimic. Cause currently whenever I actually type something a paragraph long, its just stuff in siercon's head... which doesn't give any other players something to work with. Arthur(Miirym): You can truly be one of my favorite players in both character actions, knowledge, as well as skills in typing out this game on the forums. I want that to sit there for a second, cause I mean it. I'm learning a ton from watching you DM and play. (Insert genuine pause) My only qualm, is that you seem tired, depressed, and stressed. Obviously this is not a "Deal with your problems" observation but more of a personal quandary. Simply and literally because I personally (And I'm sure others do as well) want to be a part of a game and create a place that you can come to and feel safe, and just forget about the bleh of life. I know this can be hard with a long time character, which is why siercons gonna look forward to a fresh start with the green squid. :) And that literally goes for all of you. I never want to add to your life stress, and as a long-time quiet lame character Siercon is trying to change to be more story conducive. Ultimately help me in keeping this fun for my part. Not 'fun' in the sense of "it has to be exciting" but mainly, in that stress dissolves in Heroica and were all taking a break from our lives to relax. Endgame, thanks for leading the charge and working so hard on the quest. Whether it was your best or not I had fun and learned a lot! All of you it truly was tons of fun to play with you and hope to do so again soon! -

Siercon accepted the essence cordially. "Ah, excellent, Thank you Karie." Siercon said dawning the accesory. It fit in perfectly with his darkphibbian cloak, and joined its dark miasma with an immortalis aura. "Friends, it has been a great and difficult road. Painful, yet complete. Well done. There has been loss, but we have saved many lives. It has been an honor fighting along side all of you." -

Siercon noted people expressing there preferences. He had planned on saying nothing in efforts to remain unbias... But couldn't help himself. "Interesting, I'm surprised out of four of us no ones mentioned the essence. Flavius, that... I find most intriguing. Capturing the immortal essence... An awesome item indeed." He continued down a different train of thought "As an expert blacksmith... Might you know of anyone who might find archangels wings useful as a raw material? Otherwise I was planning on seeing what the rito might be able to do..." -

Siercon's expression soured at this. It was clear, extinction darkened his mood greatly. "Can Corvis not open the gates before they die or at least save a few... whether or not it was supposed to be their time..." Siercon asked "Indeed you are forgetting something..." Siercon pulls out Sven's dagger, the scarf, and the gems (Etherial included) and returns them to him. "These were amazingly helpful... I don't think I would have been half as useful. Seriously, thank you so much. Couldn't have asked for a better ally." Siercon said patting him on he shoulder with his foggy mist-like hand. He seemed to link this word'Ally' to what Arthur was saying earlier... Almost in a 'you still have us' kind of sense. "I am terribly sorry for both of you. (in reference to Miirym)... You may have lost her for a time, but she will come back... don't let her lose you before she does. We are your friends Arthur, flaws and all. Please don't become cold, or lose hope... We're here for you, or at lease some of us are. Let me know if you want to grab a drink or drain progg cities... I'll be there." Siercon listened intently for Dragonlord's reply. "Are they all a part of a set, or would separate things be constructed from the individual items. For example a sword from the claws, or wings from the wingspike...?" Siercon inquired. Siercon nods to this, and puts on an additive smile towards Arthur. "That's... probably true." Siercon starts hesitantly, but then whole heartedly agrees. -

Siercon looked at him and shrugged "I don't know, at the very least, the endangered species I met. Beyond that, I'm hoping this one will spill any useful beans. For all I know he can drain the cavern we had to flood with his dying breath. Maybe warnings. I just think it's time for him to be useful, instead of work against us." -

Siercon steps up to the dragon. "It is not enough to cease. Undo what you have done. With what little strength you have, and in what little you can. Eternal judges can not only condem... Give us what keys to the city you have taken. It is our time, let those like the Crystow roam the land again. Rebuild, with your final breath, or you leave only a legacy of failed destruction and the original and continual curruption of your magnificent kind. It can be said: 'Dragons never build, they only burn things to the ground.' Prove that wrong... The keys." Siercon gestured with is hands as if to recieve a literal golden key. -

OOC: sry! :P packing, last day of work, moving... Ya know. Siercon would happily cast the bomb. :) especially if that will help people not be koed by the end of this for exp. Siercon begins to repeat but hesitates stepping back. "You are a worthy foe Immortalis." Siercon said clearly with a subtle tone. Reaching into his pack he drew out the cataclysm bomb. It dropped to the floor heavily at siercons feet. It seemed far more dense than something of average bomb size should be. And when it fell, it didn't bounce, not even a little bit. Crouching down Siercon scooped it off the ground and flung it across the battle field. When it should have skipped, it merely hit the ground once and slid before coming to its final resting place... Looking at the others he said softly... "Careful friends..." Siercon throws Cataclysm bomb. -
