One builder's mediocrity is another builder's best build ever....At least, that's much better than anything I've ever built. It reminds me a lot of a shape I've been wanting to build for years, but have never been able to build for lack of parts and skill. Would you mind posting some more photos to show the structure of the build? Maybe that would help me get started on mine. I'm especially curious about the nose structure and the landing gear. The ship itself looks like it would fit very well in the Star Wars universe - sort of like the Resistance equivalent of the U-wing. Go figure - they're both Incom products!

This would fit perfectly in the TLBM line, and just as well in a rehash of Monster Fighters. Thanks for sharing.

This looks very good in general, especially with the stud inversion at the front bumper, but I wish the headlights were a little bigger. One of my friends is planning to build this (I think), so I may soon see it in the brick.

If I recall correctly, they didn't release tie-in sets for the Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince movies when the films were released because the Goblet of Fire line sold so poorly. Those movies were covered in the last wave of Harry Potter sets, which were released as a last hurrah for Deathly Hallows. Given a past history of declining sales across the original eight-film franchise and the amount of company resources that are probably required to sustain one big, continuing franchise (Star Wars), I would be surprised if they picked up the Fantastic Beasts license for a full toy line. Dimensions seems to be a much less risky way of picking up a franchise. If they do anything else for the Fantastic Beasts series, I would also expect it to be a large D2C Hogwarts Castle - maybe even as big as the Disney Castle.

These builds have a lot of nice detail at a fantastically small size. They look almost like Microfighters - or perhaps the Tie Advanced in the UCS Death Star playset. Could you post some pictures with the cockpits open? I imagine the key to the entire structure for each build is the cockpit area.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but recently a friend and I built the Mega Bloks P-51 fighter plane, Harrier fighter jet, Apache attack helicopter, Bradley tank, Humvee, and a few other armored cars. They're actually very good sets. Mega Bloks is clearly doing everything it can to be a legitimate competitor to Lego rather than a clone brand, so it's been investing a lot of money in its own range of SNOT bricks, jumper plates, and curved slopes that are distinct from those used by Lego, but quite useful and versatile. It's also developed a system of versatile little parts for building rod-and-bar constructions on the 3.18 mm standard. The P-51 and Harrier are everything I wanted to build as a little kid, but couldn't. They're almost entirely brick-built; they have retractable landing gear (three-point on the P-51, four-point on the Harrier - with landing gear doors, too); they have hinged control surfaces and hidden storage compartments; the surfaces are very smoothly finished; and they're quite solid and swooshable. The same goes for the tank, Humvee, and armored cars, though they're at a larger scale than I prefer. The closest analogy in Lego's product line is Star Wars, which has some very detailed quasi-military models based on precisely-defined 3D source material. However, I still think Lego does it better, because Lego's products have cool Technic mechanisms for play features and they don't rely on highly specialized parts for the cockpit glass. I prefer the more abstracted, but more versatile, Lego cockpit glass to the perfectly-shaped, but single-use, Mega Bloks cockpit glass.

Someone posted on Reddit that, according to an email they got from Lego Customer Service, the Saturn V set will be in production through 2018. Has anyone heard that from any other source?

What a nice model of a very pretty house. Maybe I should build something like his for my dad. He's always talking about retiring to Finland.

Each of the flowers individually has really nice parts use and looks just about as much like the real thing as can possibly be achieved in Lego, but the planter box really brings them all together. I'll go support this on Ideas right now.

The Apollo CSM is very small but easily recognizable, and I really like the way you did the Apollo Telescope Mount trusses and the sun shades.

The Old Fishing Store is a fine set, and someone I know (not me) will most likely be buying a copy. However, I'd say the Birds set is the most original Ideas/Cuusoo set. Of the Ideas sets that are not based on entertainment or engineering intellectual properties, the Exo-Suit more or less fit into the existing Space line, the Maze more or less fit into the existing Games line, the Research Institute more or less fit into the Collectible Minifigures concept, and the Old Fishing Store more or less fits into the Modular Buildings line. The Birds set didn't fit into any product niche that existed before its release, and Lego has not released a similar set since it went out of production. That's partially why I didn't buy it when it was in retail stores, though I regret that now. The robin and blue jay models are very nice. (Sorry for going a little off-topic.)

Thanks for posting this. I like the simplicity of the build a lot; it reminds me of the sets that got me into Lego as a little kid. However, the blue nose cone on the helicopter is a little jarring. I suppose you didn't have the part in yellow?

This is a really spectacular build, with the detailing on each end and the nice smooth cylinder. I'm especially impressed by how you got a large cylinder that's every bit as smooth as the first and second stages in 21309 Saturn V, but without using the most complicated SNOT techniques in that set.

Very nicely done. The surfboards as landing pads are my favorite part of the build. I always like to see Gerry Anderson MOCs, but I've only seen a few minutes of UFO.

That's a very nice outer mold line. Do the modules (service, orbital, docking) separate?
