LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
icm replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
MAY 2023 • 40591: [Death Star GWP] (289 pcs) Yes, with 75355. • 75346: Pirate Snub Fighter (35€, 285 pcs) Probably. It's a very simple set that's not really all that interesting fundamentally, and it's overpriced, but I'm a sucker for a swooshy little spaceship in that size class. • 75348: Mandalorian Fang Fighter vs TIE Interceptor (100€, 957 pcs) Probably not, but I want to. • 75352: Emperor's Throne Room Diorama (100€, 807 pcs) No. • 75355: X-Wing Starfighter (240€, 1949 pcs) Yes, with 40591. • 75356: Executor Super Star Destroyer (70€, 630 pcs) No, but I would if it was an ISD. Tenoo Jedi Temple: No. Endor Speeder Bike diorama: No, but I would if it was a $40 set with the same minifigs, the same speeder bikes, and a small tree. Maybe if I can get just the speeder bikes and figures on Bricklink, or get the whole set at a steep discount later. AUGUST 2023 • 75359: [Republic Swamp Speeder] (27€, 108 pcs) No. • 75360: [Yoda's Jedi Starfighter] (35€, 253 pcs) No. • 75365: [Yavin IV Rebel Base] (160€, 1067 pcs) No. SEPTEMBER 2023 • 75354: [Republic Gunship] (150€, 1083 pcs) Maybe. I want a classic AotC Gunship, not a Coruscant Guard version. I'm not interested in the figures. The price is a lot higher than the last version and the parts count is lower. The only thing this set has going for it is being a Gunship. Plus I'll have to persuade my wife. But I do want a Gunship, so I might end up getting it after all. • 75357: [The Ghost] (170€, 1394 pcs) Maybe. The Ghost isn't one of my favorite starships and I want a Gunship more. But there are so many things wrong with the upcoming Gunship, and this Ghost has enough parts to be much better than the first version. I'd have to persuade my wife. • 75362: [Ahsoka's Shuttle] (70€, 599 pcs) Probably not. I don't like the live action filming model for the T6 shuttle, even though I like the animated version a lot. I'm a sucker for a swooshy spaceship though, so I might get it after all. • 75364: ['Ahsoka'] (100€, 1056 pcs) Not enough information to say. It's got a good ppp. Could be interesting. • Boba Fett mech (15€) Maybe if the figure is a big improvement on the ESB figure from the 2019 Slave 1, or on the RotJ figure from the 2017 Desert Skiff. • Darth Vader mech (15€) Probably. It's the cheapest set to have Vader with arm printing, and I don't find the gray landscape duel or the TIE Bomber very interesting. (Though the Bomber is in every way a much better set than the Duel.) • Stormtrooper mech (15€) No. • Buildable Chewbacca (200€) No. OCTOBER 2023 • 75367: [Venator Star Destroyer UCS] (650€, 5374 pcs) No. I want a $70 midi scaled Venator like the upcoming SSD, not a full UCS model. -
Turns out it's easy to fit three figures in the McLaren F1 if you just remove the upholstery!

@danth, this is one of the things where I agree with you 100%.

I would love to get those two speeder bikes, three minifigures, and a side build of a tree. In a set costing no more than $40, preferably $30. -
If you go to the Instructions tab on the Brickset page for 7784, you'll see the table below. The first and third links are a bit blurry in spots but generally quite usable. The second link is entirely illegible. Since the Keaton Batmobile we're getting is connected to the Flash movie, are we sure that the Keaton Batwing we're getting will be the 1989 version and not the Flash movie version?

Not unless you count the rumored vehicles from Dreams or the red swooshy that's part of the big Monkey Kid mech. They better be! -

Actually a B-wing would be quite appropriate for the 40th anniversary of RotJ, but I wouldn't bet on them making one. -

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that looked an awful lot like a Rahkshi. (Actually, like a Rahkshi crossed with one of the evil robots from the Netflix version of Lost in Space.) -
I recently found out that YouTube will auto-translate German to English for closed captions. That really opened up the German language YouTube review community for me when I've been looking at Bluebrixx or Cobi sets.

I was such a big Tintin fan when I was a kid, 20 years ago. I had half the Tintin comics and read them over and over, and I would have killed for a complete line of Tintin Lego. That was twenty years ago, but no adults were pushing Tintin on me. I just found a couple of old Tintin comics in my sister's bedroom, then I found Tintin compilations at the library, then I begged my parents for the Tintin compilations at the bookstore (which were pretty prominently placed on the comics shelves) - But yeah, Tintin is definitely not an A-list IP right now such that Lego would have any interest in picking it up.

Guybrush aka Gareth made tons of UCS models for FBTB back in the day. His UCS Y-wing version 2 was the best UCS Y-wing out there for years. It's great to see you back, and the UCS cloud car is amazing!

For what it's worth, the four OT Indy sets are now listed without images on Brickset.

Yep, boxes in that picture clearly and unmistakably say 77012 and 77015.

The reason is that 40582 was a GWP. -

I'm not that interested in the Super Star Destroyer, but if they can make this maybe they can make an Imperial Star Destroyer at the same price point, and that would be a day one buy for me. -

Re: the Bad Batch, just give me Omega in a thirty dollar set and I swear* I'll never ask for another Bad Batch set again.... * Not really. -
Oh boy, I have a feeling this one is going to go on the list of terrific sets I'll always have to admire from a distance ... Can't wait to see what it turns out to be!

It's got a 6w cab and an 8w box. That is proportional or similar to most other City vehicles. Done. -

I would imagine sets like that would resemble the $25 Ilu Discovery from Avatar 2 in pricing, build style, and minifigure count. -
Not so odd considering the precedent set in 2021, when the West and Bale cars were released at nearly the same time, and (in the US) the Pattinson car a few months later, resulting in three separate film Batmobiles hitting shelves in the same calendar year. Plus a Keaton-inspired 4+ version, for four playscale Batmobiles total, not counting the revised UCS Bale car. People complain, but in my opinion 2021 was a crazy good year for Batman. Edit, ninja'd.

You know what, just give me four modern Johnny Thunder sets and I'll call it good :)

Oh boy, I hope it's radically improved since the last one. I was never very impressed by either of the previous UCS X-wings, but the state of the art has advanced so much since 2013 that they could really do a terrific job on the next one if they tried. -
In the US the pirate ship, castle, and Galaxy Explorer are all $100, or at least the Creator sets were when I got them before the price increases. Offhand I don't recall whether those two went up in price in the US or not.
