Thank you all for the nice feedback. I didn't want to make it so tall, but I used the 6-stud high cell door piece in the back. It didn't leave me much choice, although the door works well. I think this has more color than a traditional LEGO wagon, at least compared to LEGO's official Weapons Wagon, which was all black. Great pieces. I see that WW sets are going for a pretty penny. Good luck. Thanks Z. Appreciate all your feedback. I think a paddy wagon does make a great addition to the official theme (Confederate, Union, or even civilian). Thanks, but I'm still trying to improve. I actually have a number of alternate boxart, some very custom that I never bothered to share. While I like using LEGO-style boxart, I'd like to create something unique (like my Grave Stone collection). I don't really want to copy LEGO, but rather have something original and creative. Thanks B, but I actually like the use of the smaller wheels up front. It is funny though. I originally made a 6-stude wide wagon using four stude axles on both ends.

Review: #8960 Thunder Driller
WesternOutlaw replied to paanjang16's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Nice review with some really vivid pictures. How I would have loved this set when I was a kid. Now, I really like the operation of the moving drill as you roll it along. Thanks for sharing. -
Eurobricks' drivers better watch their speed in the Trains & Town forum. EB member Sigmeister has created a realistic looking California Highway Patrol Vehicle based on a Dodge Ram design. This eight stud-wide vehicle is packed with interior details for emergency response as well as accident investigation. Just make sure you drive safe during the holiday season.

As I was photo editing my complete Confederate War Train, the picture seemed to be a bit empty, so I needed some imagery to fill it up a little more. I got busy, and ended up including a few additional creations. This is also a nice way to conclude my custom Civil War Wild West sub-theme. Thanks for all the wonderful feedback which encouaged me to keep adding to the theme. I hope you've enjoyed the collection, but now it's time for me to jump on the train heading for the Mexican border. Until then, I will leave you with the complete Confederate Army:

Thanks for taking the time to comment fellas. Added after a few attempts to add a little extra detail. Some free time at home helps a lot, but they are rather small MOCs. The background only requires a little tweaking with each creation.

Over the past week, I've been building a Confederate War Train posting each of the single wagons in the History Forum, as they are Wild West. I thought for Train Tech, I would share a picture of the complete train. Without any fancy background, here is the Confederate Train: The small locomotive is from 3225 Classic Train.

It's great to have outstanding train builders part of our Eurobricks Train Tech community. One such builder, Cagri, bricks us another excellent train wagon, a white Side Dumper. Wouldn't it be great to see LEGO offer a few single train cars like this one?

Another addition to the Confederate Train collection, here's a small Arms Wagon to transport guns and munition. While the grey cargo train doors weren't my first choice, I didn't feel like digging out a number of boxes to find the black ones. I also opted to tone down the red a bit after comments about the Officer's Wagon.

Nice job Etzel. I had not looked at this index in a very long time, and with your set review index, it's that much better.

Svelte is a lucky man. What a great Christmas present. I can't believe you were able to get one so early. Very nice review. I'd like to place this on my fire place once built. Packed w/ details, it truly is a fantastic set! Thanks for sharing Svelte. I'm envious.

I've been wanting to build a paddy wagon for a long time now, so thought I'd give it a try this evening. The result is this latest Civil War MOC, War Prisoners:

I've been using FlickR lately. I like it, except linking images take more time - the hyperlinks are all different (not by your image name). I sent Brickshelf admin a message last week but they didn't even bother responding which was real nice. As I use Flickr more, I may just give up on Brickshelf.

Can you tell me how to get... How to get to Jameson Street? New Eurobricks member and Trains & Town fan Jameson42 creates a wonderful collection of modular buildings. Lime green, pale blue, and standard green are just some of the many colors used for his town. And how to you get to Jameson Street? Just follow this link to the Trains & Town forum.

Welcome Jameson. Very nice, clean, and neat collection of buildings. I love the non-traditional colors, esp the lime green building. With the brown accents, I'm not sure why, but it reminds me of something out of Sesame Street (in a good way). Great collection of buildings here, with lots of nice architecture details. Glad to have you share with us here on EB. EDIT: I think this deserves a warm front-page welcome.

Nice job Otters! This MOC is packed with details. I love the humor in Santa coming down to find himself in Hansel soup - very clever. It's always interesting to see what different people build -such diversity among all of us. This would make an interesting caption contest. What would Santa say, aside from, "oh crap"!

Interesting you should say this Rick. I had thought about using tan windows (which I do have from the Emerald Night + a few extra), but I didn't want to create this wagon again: I do like the tan upper half a lot, but then I'm getting into the LGB Starter Train look - always shooting for something a bit different. Dang 'nab it! I knew I forgot something. It's included with the exclusive Confederate Minifig Pack (sold seperately). I was shooting for a short wagon here - I know it's not authentic in the least, but this one is just for play. I love it! We've definately got a set writer in our midst. Thanks Bob.

I wasn't real pleased with that first image, so I retook one at an angle. Custom decal is now pictured:

Someone had commented on my last Civil War train MOC, Artillery Transport, asking if I might continue the Civil War train. I couldn't stop at just the Artillery Transport, so I thought I would add an Officer's Wagon. This MOC is based on a modification of the 3225 Classic Train passenger wagon which I've always liked for the high level of playability. The two Confederate markings are actually custom decals (as some aren't too fond of photo-edited emblems). So, I give you the Confederate Officer's Wagon:

Normally, we don't like to see a topic in the Town Forum related to a single set discontinuation, but because this is an exclusive and a seasonal set, let me comment. I live in the US and was waiting to order the Winter Toy Shop. I waited too long and because of this topic, checked SAH availability today. According to the customer service rep. I spoke with, LEGO will not be able to back order their supply and receive it in time for Christmas. Because of this reason, they have decided to discontinue the set. It may reappear next year, but will no longer be available in the US. I've known SAH to be wrong before, so I did some calling. Both the Lego retail store in Disneyland California (Anaheim), and Legoland California still have the set and does ship orders. The retail store in Disney does charge more for shipping and charges sales tax (which I think is pretty crappy). For those of you looking to get this set before the holidays, I recommend you order soon; if not, you may not have another chance until next year (or on Ebay). Good luck!

For those of you who haven't picked up LEGO's Winter Toy Shop yet, Christmas is only 30 days away. Let's just hope LEGO re-stocks this set soon for some of us "late shoppers". One can not help but think that the little toy shop is inspiring many builders to create snow villages for the holidays. Trains & Town fan Brickzone has done so by building this grand Winter Village for all to enjoy. With a Norman Church, Weaver's Cottage, Town Hall, and a number of other wintery buildings, Brickzone is certainly ready for the holidays.

Wow! What a diverse selection of reasons. It may sound a bit strange, but I've always been attracted to the wagon wheels and barrels in the theme. Some of you know that I'm also a fan of Playmobil, and it's the same reason. I love the look of the wagon wheels. They look so "western" on the wagons. The boobie traps are also pretty nice, as well as the fantastic piece collection. I think WW was my first theme with brown log bricks and green pieces (from Gold City Junction). Interesting thoughts - everyone. On a side note, I notice that no one selected "Red Ryder BB Gun". This always reminds me of Christmas Story. I didn't own a BB gun when I was a kid, but I had a few cap guns. They were silver with white handles. The caps were in a little spool, that would pop & smoke when fired. I could taste the nostalgia now.
