  1. Interesting topic and discussion Hinck. I've always liked building LEGO town/city since peering into toyshop windows as a child and seeing everyday life in miniature layouts (LEGO, Playmobil, HO-scale Trains, or other life-like renditions set in a miniature scale). I like the bright colors of Classic Town with lots of red, blue, and yellow bricks, plus the small little parts (aside from standard bricks) used to make them more detailed. As a child, I had building contests with my family and we always seemed to build houses, something I find standard to LEGO (since they are normally square/rectangular like the brick we've all grown to love). I can't seem to limit my LEGO building to one single house/building, but rather I like to expand to create towns, with roads, vehicles, and trains. That's what Town/City is all about. Again, great topic, and I'm very interested in reading some of the other views.
  2. As always, thanks for your positive feedback. I received the alert after uploading the video to Youtube. The only thing that I can think of is my camera is a Sony. I've had it for a number of years and have never had a problem before (although I've only uploaded a few videos over the years). I thought it maybe had to do with the tag "Zorro". Not sure. To make up for it though, I've taken some new un-edited photos of the entire town. Let's try this: This is the complete diorama, with all of the Old Mexico creations (except for the Spanish Mission that I took apart earlier for parts).
  3. While building creativity with LEGO is appreciated, we still like to maintain a clean and healthy site for our many members/visitors. I've removed the initial adult image and have closed this topic.
  4. Wow! It's been three years. Will have to check out your new site and collection.
  5. Thanks for sharing the review Selander. This set is a strong 5 in my opinion. Nice Euro-style loco, and I like the small wagons (esp. the tipper and boxcar). I've added a poll, indexed, and front-paged this review. Nice!
  6. Train fan Selander takes Train Tech back to 1994 with a review of 9V set 4564 Freight Rail Runner. What a marvelous little cargo train it is with a yellow Euro-style locomotive, freight/mail wagon, little red hopper, and flatbed. The set even includes a loading ramp and utility truck. Make sure to visit Train Tech to rate this set today!
  7. Welcome everyone to the new "stand-alone" Train Tech forum. We've been discussing this for some time now and finally decided to make it happen. Let's see your enthusiasm by sharing some new train topics as well as MOCs. Things have slowed down a bit in here, but with the stand-alone forum, we may see more train interest through improved accessibility. I hope I wasn't boasting, but rather thanking everyone for contributing to the success of Trains & Town. As I love both themes, I'm okay to see both themes do well, and I must admit that there's still a lot more in the areas of Town sub-themes. And thanks for the coverage WhiteFang. Train Tech is on the fast train!
  8. Cute! Let's front-page this colorful mini.
  9. Pimp My Mini! -At least that's the thought behind Dr. Spock's recent Town MOC. Modifying the 2010 City set, 3177 Mini Car, Dr. Spock successfully "colorizes" his B&W mini to resemble a colorful Volkswagen Golf.
  10. Come on guys. We can express our views/opinions without insulting one another. Let's keep the topics fun and nice.
  11. Dang nab it! You beat me to it. I was working on this at the time:
  12. Excellent Legostein! I think it really takes a unique builder to create these little minis (and to make them look good). You've done an excellent job at rendering to mini-scale. Love the propellors and the mini wheels. I'm surprised you don't have little camouflaged decals. Nice!
  13. Thanks LT. I'm just not sure what my next theme will be yet. I would like to make a Western Train. Thanks Rick. I tried using the traditional Wild West railing, later changing the three pieces to the two decorated arches. I think they capture a Spanish tile-like look.
  14. Yes - I mainly meant paintings, but I'm sure other types of art, as well as mechanical drawings of locomotives could provide a lot of inspiration as well.
  15. I was just wondering if any of you fellow train fans are into train artwork -paintings, drawings, or even real-life images? I discovered a new train artist (new to me) who does a lot of steam train art. His name is Ted Blaylock. I found a great image by him over the weekend for my home office/computer room. I'd love to decorate the room with train artwork. For those of you into train art, do they inspire you to build LEGO Trains?
  16. Thanks so much for that H. (and I never got a wave before) You guys made it happen.
  17. I love it! Great idea to incorporate the clock mechanism into the farmhouse structure, and interesting choice of colors that work well. Do you have a picture of the backside? Front-paged!
  18. What a great creation to ring in the New Year - City style! Check out Trains & Town fan Jameson42's fully functional Farmhouse Clock.
  19. Very nice Sandy -in fact, this is fantastic. You've really packed this cottage with a number of superb details. The interior is as impressive as the exterior. I like the use of the sand green roof slopes which really add to the nice design of the roof. Nice chimney and use of different colors for the bricks as well. I was always fascinated with the legend of Baba Yaga and her hut on chicken legs. It would be interesting to see a hut in this manner, but I can see why you chose the traditional approach. Excellent cottage! I think this is deserving of a front-page.
  20. Great! That's much better. Thanks for the quick resizing.
