  1. Good info - from an expert. We may not find our super-rare caroller 'O'-face minfig heads eaten away by battery acid afterall. AKA. Shmelted! EDIT: You're safe White Fang - at least for the time being.
  2. I opened mine though - not like some other favorite sets. The person asking me is having trouble getting the screw off. -can't turn the screw. They had asked me, but as I said above, I may end up digging out the set and removing the battery until next year myself (if I can get it open).
  3. Thanks for the scan. Unfortunately, my set is already boxed up with the Christmas decorations - otherwise, I probably wouldn't be asking. I was also wondering if the battery should be removed when storing for a long time (the 2nd part of my question). - smartie pants!
  4. It's great to have you joining our EB Train Tech topics Jamie. We always welcome your insight, and thank you again for the great interview w/ Captain Zuloo a few months ago.
  5. I have a battery box for a 9V motor and had three C batteries in it a long time. They ended up leaking all over the battery case. If the little battery used in the light brick is similar, I might remove mine as well.
  6. Have any of you tried unscrewing LEGO's light brick (from the Winter Toy Shop)? -to replace or take out the battery. A friend of mine wants to remove the battery as they plan not to use it until next Christmas. Perhaps one of you might know if this is a good idea until use next Christmas? Edit by Rufus: For future reference, the 54930 Light Brick requires 2x LR41 batteries.
  7. Yes Jim - I took apart the Indy Desert dirama a few months ago. It got replaced with my current Train & Town layout with modulars. ----------------------------- Update: 1/12/2010 ----------------------------- There may be a train coming to the Mexican Town with No name: While I have a light idea of what I'll be adding, do any of you have any good suggestions as to what type of train might be a nice addition to the old Mexican Village? EDIT: A classic-style version of BMW's Pancho Villa Train would be fantastic.
  8. You forgot "R E T A R D E D" - just in case it's part of an important clue.
  9. Town fan Laureano brings us an awesome collection of fire and rescue vehicles. Check out his Third Fire Brigade:
  10. I don't know about you guys, but this temple is really starting to give me the heebie-jeebies. I never believed in any of this stuff, but Dark Gems, these dang Devil Statues, a Silver Sword. This place smells like demons just waiting to come to life during an eclipse to make mince meat out of us.
  11. Stanton, if you'd like to hold on to the gem, you did initially find it.
  12. Strange - what to make of this gem. Perhaps it's some kind of Genie Gem. I will rub it three times and make a wish... Nope, that didn't work. You're all still here and I'm still a MOTEE Tour Guide. I'd like to shake the gem. Anyone hiding inside?
  13. Since I now have the gem I will hold it up to the moon or whatever light source we have and look out of it in kaleidoscope-like fashion. (humming the all-time favorite "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds") I also wish to put on my jewelers magnifying eye and examine the many facets of the gem, admiring its angles and touching them with gentle ease. Is there anything special about the huge EB Star Wars tag-sized gem? Shhh! Don't answer. They come around some time, and they're worse than the demon shadows. Whatever you do, don't pose as a demon statue - that will just egg them on. Quiet everyone.
  14. okay folks - no fighting over the priceless gem of potential magical powers. Anything discovered within the temple belongs to the Guiana Space Centre. (Rubbernecks over Stanton Sexton's shoulder to get even a small glipse of the gemstone as he breaks a Gold Fever-like sweat)
  15. Damn he's she's smooth! Like baby faces after a good sanding. Just too good! (begins humming the song, Secret Agent Man)
  16. This statue is one of many within the temple, representing the five different levels of hell. There use to be 100s of these statues within the temple grounds, but because of looters, sodomizers, and mystery buffs like yourselves, just a few remain intact. Be careful as you stroke him. I will look around the room carefully (as if on guard), as the others feel the statue.
  17. Very nice Benny. Great color scheme. I especially like the front end with the white and black decaled tiles. Are those printed tile pieces? In any case, great job at creating Sir Alexander in LEGO. I like the images with the shed. Front-paged!
  18. Train fan Benny has created a LEGO version of Hong Kong Railway EMD G12 Locomotive #51: Sir Alexander. Using an abundance of green bricks with white roof and trim, his LEGO model makes a fantastic LEGO diesel locomotive.
  19. Amusing topic. I have one that comes to mind: I'm in a work meeting, and there's a lady that works in a different department. We're talking about LEGO before the meeting starts because she has a 10/11 year-old son that loves LEGO. She always gives me updates on what he's building and has even brought in one of his little cars to show me. So we're talking LEGO and someone else asks her, "are you into LEGO"? She answers, "No, but I'm the conduit between (me) and my 10-year old son". It was funny at the time.
  20. That would be the Demon Statue, First Guardian of the Temple, blah, blah, blah... Just be careful people, please. MOTEE Tours can't afford another liability claim. That last one involving the sodomizing of a minor just about wiped us out.
  21. Some of you who remember 12V and 4.5 train track might also remember building the track. I don't mean snapping preconstructed track together 9V-style, but rather actually building each piece of track with rails and ties. Many 9V and new R/C (as well as PF) fans might appreciate the convenience of being able to quickly assemble an oval of track, or especially a larger layout; but did we loose something as LEGO train track progressed. What happened to building the track almost in the same fashion as early track layers did, piece-by-piece? Being able to create a scene of train track builders has been reduced to a few single pieces of rail found in sets like the Dwarf Mine. If you had your ideal track, would it be in pieces or do you prefer prefab? Discuss the topic here.
  22. Outstanding review with some very nice quality images. Thanks for taking the time do this high-quality review. Indexed.
