  1. At last, someone votes for the Bi-Wing Baron. I too, voted for the old Baron's plane as it brings back a lot of classic adventure for me. I also like the four rifles attached. There is one issue with this plane (at least the one I have). The wings never held tight to the old grey panels. Did any of you (who had this plane) have the same issue? Interesting - I've been looking at this set closely. I actually passed this up many years ago, regretting it now. It looks like a fine set, esp. the bi-plane. Yes - the pilots would certainly affect the outcome. Jake is pretty slick in his brown bomber jacket. EDIT: Looks like the Spirit is in the lead:
  2. This is quite impressive Ibinsnur. Looks like you spent some time designing this as well. On a side note, EB does have an image size limit of 800x600, if you could please resize your images. Much appreciated.
  3. In this epic air battle, the Bi-Wing Baron will match aviation skills against the newer Sopwith Spirit of Luis. Classic Adventurers vs. Pharaoh's Quest, which plane is your favorite? All things considered, which of the two bi-planes do you like better? 5928 Bi-Wing Baron (1998) -vs- 7307 Flying Mummy Attack (2011) Adventure Face-Off! NOTE: Vote for your favorite bi-plane, not favorite set. Price and accessories not considered.
  4. I'm really starting to warm up to this little bi-plane. After building a Hangar for it, I like it even more. Here's a photo-edited scene of a squadron in action: It's time for some swooshing fun.
  5. Very nice. I especially like the rustic look of the interior with the fireplace. I'm a sucker for log cabins. EDIT: Oh, and I just noticed the sideways log bricks - great design.
  6. My apologies Cinderbike and Snapshot - thought this was the start of a SW discussion. Those are pretty sweet; will have to look at these closer.
  7. Cute - and a nice easy design (something I could build). Charlie Brown was always one of my favorites as a kid, and the Christmas show is still one of the things I look forward to every year. Love the sound track. In any case, nice little MOC. Are you planing to add some figs? Merry Christmas Charlie Brown!
  8. Thanks - a little about the flag: I had originally planned to have a countries official flag and considered US, UK, and even Germany. Upon thinking about it more, I thought rather then use a real flag, I would incorporate a decal from the official theme, choosing the Spirit. But as I didn't want to spend the time creating a custom decal, the decal has been merely photo-edited in for fun. Great suggestions - thanks. If you look at the brown crate/box toward the front, there's something yellow in there. It's a yellow coffee mug (but probably could be more easily shown - perhaps having a pilot holding the cup in sipping formation). It's funny you should mention the wind sock; I almost added the one from 6444 (one of my favorite sets). Just didn't want to go hunting for it. I actually tried creating my own, but nothing seemed to work well at the time. Thank you all for the feedback. I'd really like to revisit an Egyptian Desert diorama, but Train Town is taking all my space at the moment. I would love to use this and some of the new Pharaoh's Quest sets in something like this:
  9. Keep in mind this topic is for sharing train interest.
  10. It's great to see ol' Frankie back and I love the new werewolf. This looks like a nice line-up (although I would like to catch up on Series 3 before I start thinking about this new collection). Thanks for the news and picture.
  11. Love it! It's great to see the Pharaoh's Quest theme inspiring creations like this. I especially like the tomb/sarcophagus, and use of the Classic Adventurers tile. The Anubis statue on top is well designed and looks like something right out of Desert Adventurers or even Indy. It's interesting to see the use of the brown as the mountain side, which you've blended in with the main structure nicely - clever idea. I like that first picture with the heroes of your creation - looks real vintage. Overall, very nicely done.
  12. Thanks Kiel. It's great to have themes like Adventurers/Orient Expedition, Indiana Jones, and Pharaoh's Quest because I think the adventure themes offer a lot of opportunities for MOC building (from vehicles to buildings - only limited by the time-era). Right now, the interior of the shed doesn't have much going on, but I have some space for a few workbenches, maybe an engine, and some other aircraft parts. I should also mention that inpiration from this came from an old idea book (#6000). I've always wanted to build a hangar worthy of an adventure plane and seem to go back to my roots. and one of my all-time favorite adventure-related sets:
  13. Thanks for the comments! Here's another picture:
  14. Introducing my latest MOC incorporating the bi-plane from Flying Mummy Attack and Series 3 Minifigure Pilot. I'll share some additional images soon.
  15. Hello all: I was archiving a number of old images on my computer recently and stumbled upon a video that I had forgotten I had. The following video is from my Indiana Jones Jungle Adventure Diorama created back in 2009. It's not exactly a Brick Flick in the movie sense, but it is a video, nonetheless.
  16. Thanks for the early pictures. Review has been indexed and poll added.
  17. Anyone can welcome a new train fan.
  18. Welcome Cinderbike and Snapshot! I hope you enjoy Train Tech and feel free to participate in any of the topics within. To All: please feel free to welcome any of our new Train Fans in this thread.
  19. exon_from_youtube: I'm sorry, but this review really needs some work. I don't think the Town Forum is the right place to critique your review, as we like to focus on the aspects of the set, rather then the quality of the review. I would suggest you look into our EB Reviewers Academy, or even some past reviews to get a better idea of the types of things people appreciate. Some structure to the review, facts, clear/well-lit pictures, critical analysis - to name a few. Thanks for attempting to review this set - just need to work on improving the review. I'll leave the topic open if you plan to edit down the road. I have changed the title of your post to reflect "thoughts on this set".
  20. It's interesting to see this topic re-surface. LEGO Farm may be pork saugage as LEGO devotes efforts towards creating that Police State in 2011. I'd be sad to see the theme go, esp. with what I've seen of the 2011 line-up, but one never knows. What's left on the store shelves are quickly turning into clearance, if there's any left at all. Reminder to self: must get that combine before it's sold out. I'd welcome some new Farm sets with some great ideas in this topic, but we may have seen the last of them this year.
  21. Nice set-up Red Brick with some great additions. If I had a little more table space, I'd like to do something similar to this with the wintery picks. The HP train doesn't look bad, but I must admit that the Holiday Train would look even better rolling around your winter village. Had you thought about adding perhaps a tunnel and some white trees to the scene? Some additional landscaping would look very nice. In any case, this is a fine collection of LEGO Christmas/Winter sets (and MOCs). (note: watch those double posts though) - thanks.
  22. I was just looking at some of these sets closer, particularly the Training Center: Nice idea and something similar to a structure I made last year as part of my Mexican Village. Take a look:

Topic merged. -and brought here to Town.
  24. Short and sweet review. I was looking at this at my local TRU today. I really like the new dog with more realistic features. Indexed and poll added.

This set just doesn't look real to me. That fig count seems impossible. Perhaps it's just some good photo-editing.
