  1. Nice job WF. It's great to see Special Themes get a new makeover. Organized! EDIT: Also, I went ahead and moved my Fantasy Island topics (two) into this forum (probably more fitting than Licensed). Hope you don't mind.
  2. Thanks fellas - I had to modify slightly with limited pieces. In any case, here's a new image of the vehicle in front of the Island Bungalow:
  3. Continuing my retro Fantasy Island playset, I had to build a vehicle to transport fantasy-seekers around the island. Recognize the vehicle? Maybe not, but this is built entirely out of pieces from the vintage fire engine contained in the 10184 Town Plan (with the addition of six red tiles, white rims, and a white 1x2 grill for added accent color). NOTE: Mr. Roarke, seaplane, and island foliage not included
  4. To be honest with you, I wasn't sure where to post it. I was also thinking the Action forum with the adventure stuff, but since it was television, I thought I would put it here. If one of the other mods feel that Other Themes is a better place for it, they can certainly move it.
  5. Very nice Iz. I love the church. Over the past few years, I tried making a few small-sized churches for my fictitious town of Grave Stone (of the spooky variety). This size is perfect and it has some really fine details including the cross design, the stain glassed window in the front, and the areas of snow on the roof (great idea in fact). I like the addition of the lamp posts with Christmas lights adding to the time of year. Great scene, and it's great to see that you have a good amount of white baseplates (I'm sure they come in handy).
  6. Thanks Kiel, and appreciate you sharing the picture; in fact, it was my inspiration image. In re. to the figs: I wanted to use the suit from Indiana Jones 7682 Shanghai Chase with black bowtie for Tattoo, but I've got the box under a stack in the garage. Also, I had to cheat a little bit on the short legs. The actual piece is tan, but I changed the color in the picture. Appreciate you saying that Buddy. I know the house could have probably been a whole lot better. Thanks Zorbas. I spent half a day photo-editing this, from the pictures to the additional add-ins. I've been wanting to make this for a few months, and I had planned to make a large "retro-style" LEGO box adding different components, like the house and the car/jeep. I ended up going for the movie poster look, and I like the finished poster (although I already see some parts of the house that I want to change). Thank you Geertos. I ran out of several pieces with the building; red sloped roofs, white 1x1s, and white tiles. That presented quite the challenge, esp. the red roof slopes. I wanted the roof much larger and ended up having to shrink it down, placing it on plates. The tower is also a bit square.I still plan to do some work on the building, but probably not today. What's funny is the image makes it look so small, but yet the real thing is much larger. I'll share some pictures if I make modifications.
  7. Eurobricks' LEGO Pirate fans have been discussing the new Pirates of the Caribbean theme for some time now, but Brickset.com brings the LEGO community news and pictures of the new sets. NOTE: images are from a Dutch Toy Shop. Descriptions in English and images can also be found on A Modular Life. (not sure the original source but we certainly thank all the sources for sharing the news). - Pictures Removed - Discuss the new theme here.
  8. The year is 1978... A small boy plays with his LEGO seaplane as he watches television on a Saturday night. What is that alluring music that seems to captivate his senses. Must not be important, at least not as important as the building at hand. The Plane! The Plane! can be heard loudly. My tribute to a an old classic, Fantasy Island (note: Hoola Girl and Sea Plane sold separately). EDIT: Combine with Island Vehicle set for added fun! EDIT: Alternate image with vehicle:
  9. Big welcome to you Matt. It sounds like you've got some real gems in that Classic Town and Castle collection. You will really love the Emerald, esp. once you get it rolling around the track. Just make sure you build the wheels with the 12:00 / 3:00 configuration. I missed that part on the instructions and mine kept sputtering. In any case, I hope you enjoy Train Tech and feel free to share your train topics and MOCs any time.
  10. Welcome Breakdown. Looking forward to seeing more of your layout inside Train Tech.
  11. Very nice. I love the roof and the two-tone wall pattern looks great. Fantastic colors! I love little creations like this.
  12. Top notch Andy! Front-paged.
  13. Train Passage of Jun-Chi Jun-Chi - what does Jun-Chi have to do with LEGO Trains? LEGO Train fan Andybear@hk shares his amazing JR Tokaido Main Line-211, a LEGO version of the famous Japanese railway. Pictured in the background of his custom train is the splendid display from Brick Adventure 2011 in Hong Kong. To see more pictures of his LEGO Train creation or the display, make sure to visit Train Tech. You may want to be on the lookout for Jun-Chi.
  14. Make it a "how-to" set up a camera on a train to video your layout.
  15. I think so - thanks for the tips. Great luck to have found an elf at random. I hope to see you in our forums (although you might want to watch your image sizes). EB has an 800x600 size limit and for the slower connection speeds, images larger can take a long time to load for some. Take Care and again, welcome! It's never too late to come out of the Dark Ages.
  16. I love it Cinderbike! As a fan of both Western Trains, as well as Disney, this is superb. I can't help to think how amazing it would have been to have a set like this as ones' first LEGO train. This certainly taked the Toy Story train to a much higher level, and I look forward to seeing your additional rolling stock wagons. As I'm not into LDD, could one access LEGO Designed by Me (or whatever it's called) and purchase this set?
  17. Welcome BadLeo - first post I see. It's great to have you join EB and to have Train Tech as your first forum. You should share a little bit about yourself in the Train Tech Registry. That display is amazing! I love all the Asian architecture throughout the Town/City. Thanks for sharing and welcome!
  18. Toastie: thank you for reiterating that point, and that's a nice spirit/attitude to have. If one can focus on their building, reviewing, collecting, or whatever they enjoy the most from LEGO, everything else comes in time. To All: Please don't get caught up in who or what is being front-paged. While WhiteFang explained the 4 or 5 "diamond" qualities of a front-page creation nicely, there is no perfect formula. When I first came to EB in 2005, you should have seen some of my MOCs. They were pretty bad, as well as my ability to photograph the creations. While I still don't use the fancy techniques that our expert builders utilize, I recognize that I've come a long way - as well as my photo-editing ability that really helps when your creations aren't spectacular. I for one focus on the build and build what I want (for my enjoyment). If someone takes time to recognize my efforts, I feel flattered, esp. when I know that there are so many better creations around EB as well as the community. Not everyone is on the same level, and it's great to be exposed to those that can build "master-pieces". If my creation, review, or whatever else does not make the front-page or only gets a few responses in a topic, I appreciate those that took the time to provide their feedback, never trying to expect more. Learn from better builders but know the only thing that separates you from them is their motivation to build and build again (while large piece collections certainly help). Enjoy the hobby and keep it fun. Everything else is secondary.
  19. Hi Lesager. Welcome to Eurobricks and I hope you enjoy the site. If you're a Train Fan, please don't hesitate to stop by the Train Forum and say Hello.
  20. I've been meaning to comment ISC. This is truly spectacular. You've managed to capture outstanding design, action, movement, color, and humor (and more) all within this fantastic creation. I love the volcano and natives (of which I don't own one ). The color pops with the brilliance of the changing depths of the water and inclusion of swimmers. Equally nice is the lush greenery used with palms. This sort of MOC separates the boys from the men, and I must say, your the Man! Top notch! EDIT: you're going to have a hard time topping this one.
  21. Nice job! You're really good at building these little accessories LT. Back when I purchased my , I was looking for ideas to add some trackside structures and accessories. I just couldn't find many at the time. I esp. wanted a railroad crossing of some kind. This would have worked well. Thanks for sharing!
  22. Very nice Sergio. You have a lot of talent at building these. I enjoyed your video as well - liked the music. In fact, the entire display reminds me more of an HO or G-Scale layout because the tables look so clean and realistic with the numerous creations and your train running around them. I must admit that I would have like to seen that monorail in action as well. Thanks for sharing!
