Just wanted to take a minute to congratulate all the participants in the contest. These were some awesome entries and I enjoyed seeing the many ideas and diversity among the creations - Top Notch. Great contest Hinck! -
Do only bigshots make the front page?
WesternOutlaw replied to Gregorovich's topic in Forum Information and Help
Well, I can assure you that being what you call a "bigshot" does not constitute or serve as criteria for getting a review or a MOC front-paged. I for one, as someone who front-paged a number of MOCs and reviews in 2010, have front-paged creations from numerous "new members" as well as members that are not Fellows, or have little experience on EB (not well-known). In fact, I love to see an outstanding creation from a new member because after front-paging, the member feels welcome to our EB community. What do I look for? I look for nice creations that generally have good quality photographs, and are sometimes unique or different. I mostly front-page Town and Train creations, as these are the forums I personally frequent, but sometimes will blog Historic creations, Action, and even Sci-Fi just to see it get a little more exposure. You have to understand that their is no fair way to manage something like a front-page, because many of us do not see all the outstanding creations here on EB, and front-paging is mostly subjective (based on what a staff member finds unique). I've certainly front-paged creations that another staff member might find "run-of-the-mill", but I reserve the right to do so, because I'm taking the time to bring the MOC to the front-page. I'm not sure if this topic was generated due to not ever having seen ones' MOC or review front-paged, but chances are if not, it's because no one has noticed it for any given reason(s). My recommendation is to keep building and have fun doing so. One shouldn't build something to see it front-paged, but rather have fun and enjoy the hobby. EDIT: Gregorovich: I just noticed that you've been a member of EB for about a week. Is this something that you've just noticed, or have you been visiting EB for a long time? Vexorian: can you say that again for KimT's benefit. In fact, I think a 4.5V train might have taken out his Death Star. -
Had a feeling you were headed this direction. Please share your final results with us.

Interesting topic and discussion. I'd like to throw out something that is not on your list as a new idea(s). Check out the article in Railbricks Magazine 7 called, "What to do after that Starter Set". If it's not too simple for you, it may give you a few additional ideas. Good luck!

MOC: Ninjago Training Hideout

Thank you for eleborating Oky and I'm sorry if I took your comments harsh. You can certainly comment on my future MOCs, even if your comments are critical. Funny thought for the day - just don't start adding a ton. Thanks Kiel. You could call it that. -
Hello All: I justed wanted to let all of you know that I will no longer be serving as EB's Town Forum Moderator. Over the past several years, it was truly a pleasure leading our friendly town community, establishing the review index, helping organize the forum, and getting to know many of you. I've had the opportunity to see many of your outstanding Town and City creations and enjoyed the numerous topics, articles, reviews, and ideas that you've shared. Over the next several weeks, the Town Forum will be undergoing some administrative changes as our leadership team designates new staff to assist with moderating and regulating the forum. Future changes that you may see will be part of the continuous effort to make the forum better. I am confident that Town will remain one of EB's leading forums as it always has, and that you will certainly continue to enjoy EB and the Town community. Thank you for your support and helping make the Town Forum a special place for me to visit and enjoy. Kindest Regards, -TheBrickster

MOC: Ninjago Training Hideout
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
These are the types of comments and tone that I'd prefer people just keep to themselves, but since you've asked: Is it really that difficult to understand? The Ninja enter the carousel in preparation for a duel. It spins to allow two to step onto the platform for battle. Remember, this is also meant for play like the Ninjago theme. I like it there - aside from a prominent display of the Ninjago logo, it is intended to display the prized golden katana for the ultimate victor. Yes - I agree with you on this one. Because of angle/curve, I could not place a 1x2 tile on that last step. I wasn't crazy about this myself. Had you considered that maybe this was the look I was going for? - as I am a Classic Ninja fan first. Why not just ask about the interior rather than insult? If you're familar with my posting style, I spend a considerable amount of time photo-editing my creations for an introductory image, and often will post additional images later. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding your delivery or tone but as a re-read your post, my thoughts are: Please do me a favor and don't bother commenting in my topics in the future. I appreciate feedback, questions, and constructive criticism, but I take offense in your manners. As I don't know you, if you'd like me to answer your questions in the future, try asking nicely. This comes with maturity. Thanks Baylego. The door is from 3052 Ninja Fire Fortress. It swivels in the middle and is a great piece for Ninja/Samurai creations. -

Topic moved to the History Forum (either this or licensed may be more appropriate than Town). Awesome! Love the numerous horses and the use of all the gold gives it such a regal look.

Great images Mifody. I picked this set up merely hours ago and planned to review it on Saturday morning. You beat me to it, but after seeing all the images that you've shared, some with other City components like the motorcycles and police cars, I don't think that I can top what you've done here. At the same time, I love it and am very much looking forwarding to adding a banking establishment to my Train Town. I've taken the liberty of photo-editing one of your images and have added a poll to your review. Front-paged! Thanks for sharing.

LEGO City bank robbery has never been so exciting after seeing LEGO Town fan Mifody's new review of the 2011 LEGO City set, 3661 Bank & Money Transfer. Wielding a new red crowbar and loot sack, the Brickster is on the loose and he plans to crack open the bank safe and steal the treasury of EB's Town. Make sure you visit the Town Forum if you'd like to help thwart Brickster's plan. Lego City 2011 - packed with action and excitement!

REVIEW: 7326 Rise of the Sphinx
WesternOutlaw replied to Bricknave's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Nice review and I esp. like the image next to the Adventurers set. It really shows how large this set is. I picked this up a few weeks before Christmas but haven't had a chance to break it open. I'm looking forward to this and the pyramid. It is nice to see that the interior has something to show, as I thought it was just empty inside. Thanks for taking the time to photograph and share your thoughts here on EB. I like the PQ line-up and look forward to seeing what else LEGO may offer. -
I love it! Front-paged with a little photo-editing (hope you don't mind). Great colors!

Come and hear the delightful Jazz Band of EB's Town Forum. LEGO Town and Train fan Eilif has created the perfect Gazebo with Jazz Combo as the latest addition to his town of Brickington.
-
Thank you all for the nice feedback. I have two of these little sets but wish I had a few more as well. So I did back in 2006 WF. You've got a great memory. I had well forgotten about mentioning it in Why doesn't Lego make troop sets anymore?

First, let me say welcome to EB and to Train Tech Ayrow (although an introduction in the Train Tech registry is always appreciated). I just stumbled upon this Big Boy and must say that it's a beauty. I especially like the images pictured next to the Emerald and the Super Chief, and it really shows how big this Big Boy really is. I think I'd like to front-page this very nice locomotive. Great job!
-
Move over Emerald Night, there's a new LEGO Train locomotive on the block, and this one is a Big Boy! One of our newest members of EB, a huge fan of LEGO Trains, Ayrow, has created a most impressive 4-8-8-4 Union Pacific Big Boy. Inspired by a creation from LEGO Train builder Jay Hurst, one better make room on the tracks when this Big Boy arrives in the Train Tech forum.

Indiana Jones Jungle Adventure
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
Thanks for the comments fellas. Jim - sorry, just stumbled upon this question. I never made a video of the Desert Adventure diorama. Perhaps I'll revisit one day with the new Pharaoh's Quest sets. Prince of Persia offers a number of useful sets/pieces as well. -
I don't think we need these types of comments here. What's done is done - leave it alone.
-
Welcome fellas. Hope you enjoy or continue to enjoy our Train Tech community.

In looking at this again, I think it deserves a "front-paging". How's your additional cars coming along?
