I'm not sure what you mean in regard to 10182 & 10211 corner house. 10182 is Cafe Corner? Is there also a new Corner House?

Great news for those of us collecting the modulars! Thnaks for sharing the information. ILikePi: I said this initially, then finally broke down and purchased Cafe Corner. After you build one of these fantastic sets, you'll want the others as each is better than the next (in my opinion). I can't wait for another. It sounds interesting that one is a corner house to cap off the end of the block. I may be thinking way too far ahead, but what next after the street ends. Sets in between or perhaps another street? I'm wondering.

Great discussion guys! Unless I missed it above, right after the BNSF locomotive was introduced, we did see the TTX Intermodal Double-Stack Car (10170). This freight car was a great addition and a very realistic model that one could add to the locomotive (aside from the My Own Train freight cars). I just regret not ordering a few more. I purchased one, but never got around to building. I must admit that while I love the Super Chief, I always thought that the passenger/dining cars were so bland with the light grey color. I'm looking at them now on a small train shelf - just solid grey.

MOC: Old Swaybacked Flatcar (No Freeloading!)
WesternOutlaw replied to RTN LNA's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Pirates + Train, very clever! I really like the aged design of this little flatbed, as you've captured the damage from the years of use (esp from those pirate). Word in the train shed is that they can really abuse a good flatbed wagon. It's neat to see the bend in the middle. Now if you add some ghost pirates, you'd have a perfect entry for the Build a Ghost Train Building Challenge, but this gives me a great idea for a future building challenge. -
Excellent review WF! Love the last image of take off (very clever in fact). I never picked up this set a few years ago, so it's nice to see some close-up images. It reminds me of one of the older airplane sets (but non-medical). I like these little aircrafts, as they're fun to "swoosh" and to attempt minifig rescues. Very nice review from our resident Reviewers's Academy Principal. Blog to come later.

My fault. His links didn't seem to copy well. Please try again.

Hi Robuko: I've created a new post for your entry.

Ghost Train Entry from Robuko Robuko's first attempt at a train Here is his entry: Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic 3 It is Halloween. Voldemort, Malfoy, Nott and Fenrir are hunting for the boy wizard Harry Potter. Brooms are too slow, it must be tonight! Only Nagini, transfigured into the Morsdmordre Express, can give them the speed they require. But maybe, in his blind desire, Voldemort

Well thank you Cap'n Z. You're the only one that took a moment to comment on this latest creation, which I appreciate. I must be either losing my touch, or the spooky stuff just doesn't interest our Train Fans, even this time of year.

Absolutely fantastic Mos_Eisley! How I've wanted to create a wonderful haunted house such as this. Not only is the creation deserving of a "front page"; especially since it's perfect for the season, but it also deserves a little photo editing to help create the eerie atmosphere that you've captured in LEGO so well (I hope you don't mind). Sweet! :skull:

On a hilltop bleak and bare, looms the castle of despair, only phantoms linger there within its dismal walls. Through the dark they're creeping, crawling, frenzied furies battling, brawling, sprawling, calling, caterwauling through the dusky halls. - exert from The Haunted House by Jack Prelutsky Haunted House by Mos Eisley. Do you dare?

Nice job Deanc. I've always loved mining trains, and the thought of a "Dead Man's Mine", great idea. The little red shunter works very well as it has the appearance of a narrow gauge locomotive. I like the ore car with the use of the plates on its side and the chain. That's definately a lot of precious minerals! The skeleton car for the ghastly workers works great as it looks like they might hop off any minute to lay some explosives stored in the wooden crate. Nice mine entrance as well. I'd love to see it expanded into the depths of the earth. Overall, a great Ghost Train entry. I'm glad to see you enter the building challenge and join us here at Train Tech.

Captain Zuloo of Behind the Helm brings Eurobricks’ Train Tech Part 2 of the exclusive interview with LEGO train designer Jamie Berard. In this candid interview with Jamie, the “behind the scene” secrets of the Emerald Express are revealed, as well as Jamie’s view of the future of LEGO trains, the Power Functions system, and 9V. This is certainly a rare and exciting interview, so make sure you check it out! Behind the Helm Interview - Part 2

Welcome Deanc. I'm glad you decided to join EB and Train Tech. Hope you enjoy the board. I like your Mining Train (will comment later).

The poll will be created October 31, so you have until Friday the 30th.

For those of you who didn't see the final bricks, they will be pictured on Classic-Town.net in about 5-6 hours. Also, I thought the race was a great thing. Mine weighed quite a bit as well. In addition, I used the promotional bricks for a fun little Ghost Train MOC (link to the creation in my signature below). Happy Halloween!

Ghost Train Entry Transporting the promotional "Bricktober Brick" may prove more difficult than imagined for good ol' M.T. Box. Seems something has been haunting the woods near the old castle, and the freight wagon has a bit further to go before it reaches it's Halloween destination. :skull:

Thanks for the great review! I see this set as an excellent parts set, esp. with all the spooky heads. I don't think the price is bad either. I'll definately be picking up one of these.

ARTICLE: The Enjoyment of Lego Trains
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Train Tech
1. Yes, as well as 9V track. LEGO track is all the same size (except for the new track contained in the Indiana Jones set Temple of Doom, which is narrower). While the Emerald will run on 9V track, it can't draw any power without a 9V motor. But yes, it is compatable w/ R/C track. 2. I definately think so. Take a look at the review I referenced in your previous message. It's one of LEGO's best trains, and Power Functions is the new platform for LEGO trains. For parts; however, at least for beginners, I very much like the Cargo Train Deluxe. You'll get more plates, wheels, and buffers to make additional trains. For beauty and detail though, the Emerald is the best! You will also need to order the PF system/parts for it. See this article for a list of the PF items. 3. I'm not a big fan of the Passenger Train, and while the price may be much more reasonable, the Cargo Train Deluxe is much better for parts. The Passenger Train and Cargo both have the loop of track which is great, and you could use it for the Emerald down the road. Other pieces are rather limited though. Take a look at the review for the Passenger Train as well. You can find a link in the Train Tech Index. -
I think that's a different discussion. You might check out this review by Captain Zuloo of the Emerald Night. Here's another discussion related to LEGO Trains that might be a good resource for you. And Project Train Start for beginners. These are all good resources for new train builders.

Eskallon: I applaud your efforts and level of creativity to create this by using limited parts. Interesting back story as well and I like your flaming photo edited letters. As you gain more parts, esp. from a LEGO train set, the sky is the limit. Nice effort on your part and a fine entry.
-
Especially if it's Grave Stone Ghost Train related. EDIT: There may be a Ghost Train floating 'round these parts. Does that count?
-
That's the spirit Eskallon! We're all beginners from time-to-time. I look forward to seeing your entry.
