42083 - Bugatti Chiron
ibessonov replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It is so hard to find parts pack for dark blue besides Chiron. There's the boat and basically that's it :) I believe that in 2019 we'll see some major set in this color! At least it would be reasonable. Dark Azure is not an issue and that's a good thing. -

Thank you for explaining! Sorry, probably I couldn't explain myself correctly =) What I meant is that enge of 12z gear will be half a stud lower then car's bottom. I find this technique very unlikely, but of course it is possible. I would use such approach in MOCs if I had to, but LEGO designers are more restricted on what is allowed. -

Gotta be honest - I don't know how to avoid 12z gear sticking here. Am I missing something? Differential is only 2 studs from the bottom, right? -

This would mean that 12z gear sticks from the bottom a little bit. Sounds unlikely. Well, these are only assumptions so that's fine, it was fun exercise anyway. -

It's directly connected to the main driving shaft (I hope it's the right term). I know I posted it already but no one noticed Here's LDD file with my reverse engineering of the gearbox, I base my expectations on it: https://www.bricksafe.com/files/ibessonov/misc/42083-gearbox-1.lxf Similar to what I did with Porsche - "stealed" 4 new connectors replacing them with 2L connectors on longer axles with additional bushings. -

I think that 2 gears are for gearbox and another 2 are for us, because we want more new pieces. Remember Porsche with new red 3L connectors? It required only 2 of them but provided 11. I mean 28z that can engage with driving ring. -

12z - impossible They might also release 28z, this would be awesome! But I have no ideas for its usage -

42077 has them -

I would understand if they release 24z gear that can engage with driving ring, but larger ones? Like with 36 or 40 gears? They are too big to be used in gearboxes. -

Nope, it's sticker #15 -

This way rim looks more nicely on the outside, this is the most likely reason. -

You mean this one? This mould is pretty old actually. -

Having at least 4 different colors besides black certainly helps! -

Must be... What if that instruction didn't have the error? Would we appreciate his gearbox more? To be honest I think that design was pretty good considering limitation in size. -

Would be good! Sure there's a reason for current solution. -

Printed "Stickered" extension is part of doors and opens with them, there can't be continuity here. -

There are tho driving rings instead of one, but they work synchronously on the same speeds. This way one of them is always engaged, there's no "Neutral" position. Check out this recreation: https://bricksafe.com/files/ibessonov/misc/42083-gearbox-1.lxf -
General Part Discussion
ibessonov replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Maybe it's weird but I'd love to see this part being real (look at my poor photoshop skills): It would allow to couple gear shifting rings using less space then it's required now. Combine it with new orange parts from 42083 and it would be awesome!- 5,504 replies

Exactly my thoughts The only real problem for me is the price. Porsche here in Russia costs more than 450 dollars, I'm not joking! I can only hope that Bugatti will have the same price. It can't be lower by definition. -

I agree with you. It will also leave us much more creative freedom in shapes and sizes. I already have some abstract ideas but they require a lot of prototyping! -

2L rubber piece connected to 2 of these should fit in that tight space I think: Mechanism on the other side is the matter of imagination. There are many creative people here. So we need to wait few weeks or months and they'll come up with something. -

Judging from the leaked pictures it's 31 studs wide (I may be wrong here), so it'll fit in my shelf. Too bad I have to disassemble my Porsche because there's not much free space on it :( -

Our local store doesn't even know retail price (in rubles, of course) and there's no preorder! I asked seller to call me directly when there's any information.
