  1. It will be interesting to see what they do with the castle next year. I think Marcos has made it quite clear that this year's castle was not meant to be an anniversary standalone, but instead a soft reboot, so going back to the same castle sections is clearly not off the table. That being said the Great Hall was supposed to be retired sooner than it was, but, I assume due to sheer popularity, the production was extended so that it is still on the shelves now alongside the Chamber Of Secrets. It is however meant to be retiring from this July meaning the crossover period is limited. On the other hand the Clock Tower is not said to be retiring until December 2022. Now I know these lists are not official gospel, but they are coming from what I think we consider as reliable sources. So that would suggest to me that next year's castle section will not be Clocktower related because otherwise the dates would make for a half a year crossover of similar products. Nor would it be Astronomy Tower because again that will still be on the shelves. Of course they could just provide more modular sections to add to this year's castle structure, but I just can't see them leaving out a big castle set. Like you say, speculating is such fun. Neither did I until I got the set. Now I've actually played chess ... And won! Yes exactly. Unfortunately I think Grimmauld Place falls in to that category too, unless Lego work out how to do a feature where is emerges from in between two buildings. Now that might get kids' attention.
  2. Yes this too! And I can't help but think that an OOTP Ministry battle would make a good £20 set. The section with all the shelves crashing down and the prophecy globes flying everywhere. The part before Sirius dies or Harry gets possessed so no ethics there. Kids would love that surely? Not that I think the 'too dark' argument stands anyway. Okay, maybe recreating the Inferi scene, as cool as it might look, would be unwise considering it essentially represents mass murder, but Lego has done the Graveyard Duel and Expeco Patronum sets and, whether they included Cedric in the set or not, means they have depicted a death scene and a scene where a guy nearly gets his soul sucked out. So I don't think it's the darkness exactly stopping them choosing things, it's just the marketability and recognisability of scenes. I think the problem with DH is that there is just a lot of jumping from this hilltop to that forest etc. Not that Lego has been forest shy with HP before. But I see no reason why they won't cover the Battle of Hogwarts other than they may not know what castle section they can pair with the figures that they conclude is recognisable enough for the general market. Also speaking of dogs, I still want a Fang. A new mould that is, with wobbly jowls and all. The poor thing was not a coward after all and I think he deserves some recognition!
  3. Haha I swear half the fun is in guessing the unknown. Like when Marcus says something along the lines of 'We stick to the first few movies because they're not as dark and so we find more interesting and engaging moments in them for sets' and I start thinking about next year and how I really want merpeople figures and surely the second task qualifies as an interesting and engaging moment. And then I start to imagine all the potential figures: merperson, shark head Krum, bubblehead Cedric, gillyweed gills Harry (maybe even a Rita Skeeter!) and you just remember why you love this theme so much.
  4. In other news, Lego had just announced the buildable Adidas trainer, so maybe a buildable Dobby's sock isn't too farfetched! Well it is pretty iconic, right?
  5. You're very patient. I might be interested in trading. I seem to have attracted McGonagalls, Snapes, Jocundas and Helgas, but still need Seraphina Piquery, Rowena Ravenclaw, golden Dumbledore and Madame Maxime.
  6. That seems reasonable. The cheapest I've seen in the UK on ebay is around £4 each, but most around £6. I still need 4 cards, but I'm not willing to pay that for them. I highly doubt I will be buying the D2C, but hopefully I will get lucky with the advent calendar and get one or two and then complete the set via Bricklink or ebay when the prices have come down.
  7. I got the chess set purely for the figs. I thought about selling on the build, but my mum likes chess and wanted to play a game with the set so I built it. I always thought the pawns looked cute in the images and really reminded me of the movie, but when I built the set it gave me more of an appreciation for the whole set. Sure the chess figures aren't as detailed as they could be, but they are recognisable and for the price point a good representation. I have never been a chess enthusiast, but I've just played a game of chess with my mum and actually won despite the fact that I am a novice. So not only are the pieces recognisable, but the whole thing is playable. In the end, I think it is a good compromise between displayability and playability.
  8. I made an order on June 2nd when I ordered the HP Chess set and I've just received it today which is a lot quicker than my last order which took weeks, small or not. Granted it was only two pieces, but it was still a surprise as I hadn't even got the usual B+P dispatch email. It does seem like orders are speeding up.
  9. I have my golden minifigs on the bottom row of my HP minifigure display cabinet. I then have all my minifigs displayed in rows going upwards in film order. I use display frames/cabinets from displayframes uk and double layer the figs. Two should be enough for all HP figs from 2018 onwards and going forward. I have to agree with @lego_guyon02 though; they don't really do much for me and do clash rather with all the other figs. My wizard tiles are currently away in a spares box with all my HP wands. I might display them with the figures if I get a set, but I'm so far on 11/16.
  10. Whilst is may not be this year, I'd say Gringotts is 99% certain going to happen, even if it doesn't include the dragon. The dragon would certainly be cool and I think would make the set very recognisable thanks to the Orlando theme park, but the thing with Gringotts is that it first appears in book/movie 1 and that is apparently recognisable and loved territory for Lego. Add to that the fact that we got the rest of Diagon Alley and I'll eat a bogie flavoured Bertie Bott bean if we don't get a Gringotts within the next couple of years.
  11. And then Lego original IP Monkie Kid introduces the The Bone Demon. Don't tell me you can't find engaging moments out of the darker stuff lol. I'm sure kids would love exploding jars and shelves in the Ministry, Dumbledore fighting inferi, or a crumbling Hogwarts bridge with 'animated' Knight Statues and death eaters or dementors, dark or not. Plus whilst I'm sure the first movies may be more recognisable for some, all the books and movies have been around for long enough now that the material is generally well known. Thanks for asking though. You're right it doesn't sound good.
  12. Haha So it really is a play feature!
  13. Chamber Of Secrets and Hogsmeade arrived today. Out of 10 cards I got 2 doubles (McGonagall and Snape). Also got Bertie Bott, Jocunda Sykes, Garrick Ollivander, Nicholas Flamel, Godric Gryffindor and Helga Hufflepuff. I fell like I did pretty well, but I get the feeling it might be quite difficult to complete the set without sourcing for Bricklink etc. I'd be interested to know if any of the tiles are actually rarer.
  14. UK people, I'm selling the castle builds and Hogsmeade build from the new sets. By the end of this week, I should have in hand the Chamber of Secrets, 2 x polyjuice bathroom, Fluffy corridor, Hogsmeade and Flying Class. I'm keeping the fligures, Fluffy, Basilisk, wizard cards and just want to make a little bit of money back on the builds. PM me if interested.
  15. It's Christmas in July lol which as someone from the UK is a concept that I have never related too. Hopefully next year will be Grimmauld Place or The Burrow like you say.
  16. I do wish they would stop reusing that Ollivander torso though. What with Ollivander, the wizard in the minifigure pack and now Griphook it's starting to look like Diagon Alley has some sort of uniform policy. Also my preorder for Fluffy and Polyjuice just shipped from Lego but I've only been given normal points rather than the double points that was the promo at the time of ordering. Preorder or not, when I went to checkout it said I would receive double points and the page after ordering showed double points as well. Has anybody else who's preordered found this? Seems like another customer service chat needed. EDIT: Phoned customer service and a very nice lady quickly added my points. So do contact them if you get the same for a preorder.
  17. I love that we're getting the squashed birthday cake as a print and I never say no to new minifigure prints, but overall this is very underwhelming. We wanted Gringotts and instead we get a teeny tiny vault and a chibi cart. The minifigures aren't that interesting either, but then I did particularly love last year's with the bright yule ball dresses. That being said, I feel like this is a starter to the main course, in that I'm sure Gringotts will come as a set, most probably, next year and this is just a taster. I would still have loved this as a kid at Christmas and it's still a decent product in itself, but for me just not as good as the past couple.
  18. ....
  19. I did a small order worth approx £15 on 18th March and it was shipped on 14th April. Think it then took around a week to get to me. It says on the Lego website that B+P orders are taking around 5-7 weeks to be delivered so that was about right.
  20. Can't wait! Feels like we've known about them for so long now I'm so ready to see them in person. On that note, I've posted a thread in Buying and Selling about how I'm going to keep the figs, but sell the builds. Any interested UK buyers check it out.
  21. Are you saying I'm going to have to buy a bunch of not-so-iconic buildable items just to get some exclusive figures? *Insert Bespin Luke Skywalker finding out Vader's his father*
  22. Someone, I think it was Guyon, said something along the lines of 'you'd be surprised what Lego considers "icons".
  23. Tan horse is available at the moment.
