Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
BacktoBricks replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I feel like we do this a lot though don't we. I'm sure it will be all good stuff relatively speaking, although I do feel like we can sense there has been a change of design lead. Granted they are having to follow on from someone who had a fresh slate to that does put them at a certain disadvantage. -

I feel like the summer wave will be the opportunity for new stuff. Although granted with the 'winter' wave not releasing until March it certainly makes it feel like it all merges in to one. I never really expected much of the winter waves before and was quite happy with the odd small set and the 'gimmick' as they seem to have to exist. It meant saving up for the surprises and sets later in the year. That being said, if the Durmstrang Ship doesn't make an appearance this year in favour of say another Clocktower I will question the logic. To be fair to the Ford Anglia set, the car on its own has been one of my favourite builds since I was a kid; you can actually do something swooshable with it and it displays nice to with limited space. I for one was also hoping it wouldn't be shunted into any more sets anytime soon, because whilst both sets it has come in have made sense story wise, at one point there was two sets on the shelves with slightly different Ford Anglia builds and that felt wasteful. Providing it on it's own as a playset will be a good thing for kids I think, that's assuming it is a playset and not some ultra detailed display piece. Then it would go nicely with the CE Hogwarts Express if scaled right, but there would only be so much you could do to improve it if it was to be kept in scale, otherwise it would be a stand alone display piece. Both would have merits and I couldn't blame Lego for mining that opportunity. As for the other sets we don't know what they are yet so I'm keeping an open mind and hoping that whatever we get is at least displayable and not gimmicks and improves on minifigs if they are the same scenes as before. Sorry to hear that. Try not to get too salty yet though until we know more otherwise we may be in for more stones and disappointing waves. -

Yes you would need to spend extra to get to the $130 to reach the promo threshold. -

You better be kidding. Lego employee: 'How about Harry Potter mechs?' Dumbledore: 'We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy.' Lego boss: 'Mechs it is!' Dumbledore shakes his head. What if one of the remakes is the Gringotts vault system with the tracks. Now that would be strange and underwhelming for all those who have just purchased Gringotts. Would also explain why leakers might be holding off releasing info. -

I could be wildly off here, but I'm thinking maybe some of the figs that appeared in the banner sets this year might make an appearance next year. I'd of thought that Lego would want to get more out of those new Quidditch jumpers especially considering the short run the banner sets will havehad before they retire. -

The only thing I don't really like about the Gringotts set is that if you put it at the end of Diagon Alley, with two of the four DA shops on each side creating an actual alley to its left, the bank is not facing the right direction in terms of the film set up; to do that you would need to place the baseplate diagonally to the end of the other shops (I see the irony here). I think the set up is potentially close to the Florida park, but as I've never been I'm just going on photos. What potentially annoys me even more (but doesn't surprise me considering it doesn't seem to be recommended under Lego's lifestyle photos) it is that none of the LAN reviews I've seen show it set up like this because, even though it takes up a lot of space still, it's probably the most compact way to display both sets together and I'm guessing that, like myself, a lot of people don't have the space to do the really long set up or the corner set up. The closest I've seen get to this set up is Solid Brix Studios but he has them arranged in a loose line not with the baseplates all pushed against each other. If anyone has seen a review with it like this I'd love to see it. @BrickBob Studpants I hadn't seen Cheesey Studios videos until this year, but his HP reviews are fast becoming my favourite for the line. I feel like he actually likes the content. -

Thank you for letting us know. :) I'm guessing you are referring to the winter wave? -

Glad it's not just me; I thought I was being impatient or had got my timescales completely wrong, but it feels odd having set names for the other big licensed property and nothing on this front. -

I'm wondering when we'll get set names for the 2024 sets, seeing as we have one for Star Wars? -

That would be great, but I'm guessing the podracer diorama will be more along the line of the trench run one and have no minifigures, especially at that price point. -

I saw it on a FB group so don't know where they got it from. It's grainy, but basically you have the lower level twisting up to the bank itself and a dragon on top. For it to be display like the box art though there must be some strong technic going on in the middle or it will be totally top heavy. -

I've been thinking the exact same thing in the last few days. The only thing I can think to counter that argument is that Lego gave us the Evil Queen in both her forms this year in designs that are straight out of the animations. Now you could say they are to go with Snow and Charming from the castle, but at the same time their inclusion in the castle helps to have at least Snow made for them if they stick to the animated version and they can then use the budget for all the Dwarves. Aurora also not getting her prince would also fit with the potential for the Maleficent dragon diorama becoming real. Either way, there's no telling really, but I think the cottage build is wanted way more than the Royal Clamshell and it being based on the new movie would really harm the set. -

Just watched the promo video for the Peter Pan set on the Lego website and the clock face is glow in the dark. That's a nice touch although terrible if you display your Lego where you sleep. -

I'm probably going to get the castle as I want all the figures (minus Tiana) and I'm betting that will be an expense in itself so might as well get some actual building time out of it. I actually much prefer this design with the Gold and light nougat colour scheme and the smoother pillars. Trouble is, I would want to place all the minifigures inside the castle to display them but then they would be against a wall. Turning the castle inside outwards to display though would probably look a bit silly. -

I can't say this one is working for me. The forced perspective is too forced with the minifigures that close to the scene and despite the arguably good part usage with the hairpieces as trees unfortunately all I can see is hairpieces. I will want to get Wendy, as I'm sure will most and as I'm sure Lego are banking on having already given us Pan and Tink in the train set. Price is getting beyond a joke though. If Lego knows they are starting to outprice their current buyers, but are aiming for a different market with more cash that kind of implies disdain for the loyalty of all those AFOLS who have been buying their product for years. As ever, not a dig at the designer(s) who I'm sure were given a brief and did their best with it, but I don't think we should feel the need to say everything is awesome purely because it's Lego.
