LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
doclord replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Honestly one of the best Star Wars sets to come out in a long time. A few more unique aliens like the Scream one would've been great but the figs are excellent. -
Pretty sure most of the figure complaints is the choice of figures and not the number.

Feels like this was our last chance for Fang.

Diagon Alley is probably one of the biggest sets all year, they know they can release it whenever they want for hype.

A wall over a flying shoebox for four times the price, any day of the week. -

Smaller budget on Star Wars this year? -
I actually think the Batmobile works just fine as something likely employed at a futuristic, slightly ahead of us park like Jurassic World. It just doesn't fit the desired aesthetic (jeeps, dinos, maybe some park attractions and buildings).

Will it work with the MCU hall of armor set? At least without mods. -

I honestly think Blazer's style of facemask should be the standard moving forward, it looks VERY close to the hatch design. -

Red Skull with one of the (many) robe/trench coat black legs would be great. -

I don't remember a comic Hulkbuster that had a flatter/sunken helmet AND its mouth visible. -

The tower absolutely makes up for the past few years of bad Marvel sets. Wasn't there a hall of armor set too? -
LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
doclord replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Can people put their anger towards Monkie Kid "taking up resources" at the Mario or Minion sets or something? -
Isn't the reason that Cho is that color is because Dr. Wu and Wong minifigs are that color? I think her hair is honestly worse, or maybe it's her face, because I don't remember seeing the others get complaints.

Feels like a lot of people want this line to fail. -
LEGO Monkie Kid 2020

Considering the market research LEGO likely did before launching this line I don't think its unfounded that they thought this would be a sound business choice. The only thing they couldn't have predicted was COVID-19 and the resounding (though not the only reason for) anti-Chinese sentiment among many Westerners. -
LEGO Monkie Kid 2020

This mostly seems to be a rant against Mainland China that is only loosely disguised as a critique against Journey to the West being used by LEGO. It is easily one of the most creative JTTW adaptations I've ever seen and can't say it's lazy or disrespectful. Adherence to the original aesthetic would be a lazier cash grab than trying something new. -

The budget went to the heroes this time around for their introduction. Makes sense to me. -
The next Disney set won't be an actual attraction, just like the train station and castle are both modified Lego original versions. It'll be another "Disney ____"

I thought this set was a rather boring looking haunted house until I realized that the rooms are essentially the lobby for the main tower. I think naming this set Haunted House was a bad idea because most people won't realize the real intent of the set (the vertical drop aspect).

Don't like the return of the sand green, otherwise great sets. I am tired of the Hogwarts sets having really niche/useless figures though after the Great Hall was so... great. 3/4 of them I just want to buy without figures (though Snape and Filch are great).

LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
doclord replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
The main cast looks great, the sets all look interesting and varied save for the bike and what I'm assuming is the Demon's son's truck. What really interests me is that it seems like the cast is half adults and half "kids", though Monkie Kid and Mia look kind of ambiguously aged. Unless Sandy is a hairy teenager? -
With all the hints that have come out I cannot comprehend what Diagon Alley is going to look like. I only hope that for $400 the shops aren't facades, and actually have back walls. Considering it may have an underground... maybe it's built like Ninjago City? The top is the street and the bottom is Gringotts mines? You could take the top off and display it on its own... stuff like that.

Yup, but it would also explain the Slytherin robes right? They could come with Malfoy Jr. in the book scene.

I can see different Harrys if the intent is to have the buildings represent different scenes that feature Harry. Fudge and POA Harry in the Leaky Cauldron, Ollivander and SS Harry, Lucius/Lockhart and CoS Harry.
