There are two different connectors on the wire. One fits to the usual Power functions connector and one fits on the top of the train controller :)

Perhaps, the modders now begin to change this set in a non RC version, get rid of the motors and replace it by complex gearbox/drivetrains :D

There is a way to control lego boost with a gamepad. So I expect it to be possible für control+ as well. I am also not a fan of remote control using a flat display without any haptic feedback.
