LEGO Ninjago 2021

I ordered Thursday morning in the US and just got a shipping confirmation today. That was a pretty quick turnaround! -

In recent years we haven’t gotten gimmick sets for all 6 ninja. It’s a bit of a sore point with some fans, especially for popular ones like the arcade pods. It’s unlikely we’ll see Epic Battle sets for Lloyd or Nya. (An even bigger issue is that Nya almost never gets these variants. She only ever features where all 5 other ninja do. Maybe this summer will fix that?) -

Agree with this. It looks like a great continuation of the other two NC sets. Will it be as great as the original? Hard to say with the low quality images, but it certainly is not substantially worse. -

The minifigures are hard to make out but I have a feeling they won’t be anything special. Some new casual ninja variants and gold Wu look to be the most promising. A few people have mentioned a new Ronin, which would be nice. I’m still hoping for maybe Borg, PIXAL, Antonia, or Dr. Julien. -

I haven’t seen it mentioned yet but based on the new images on S@H, it looks like all 3 ghost minifigures have the same head, which is unfortunate. On the bright side, we were correct that the overlord has a new head. I wonder why they decided to change it. -

I think brick built dragon heads work well for the larger dragons where they’re given more pieces for greater detail. The smaller dragons need more creative solutions, which sometimes work but other times fall short. So at least for some smaller dragons, I can support the moulded heads. -

The only leaks of golden Nya and Zane I’ve seen have been suspiciously blurry. Of course, it’s totally possible that they’re real, but I have my doubts. Considering how long ago the alleged leaks surfaced, I would have expected clearer pictures to come up by now. -

For a lot of Legacy decisions that I’m not a fan of, I can chalk it up to not being in the target demographic. For example, of course I don’t care very much about the new Kai Fighter. It wasn’t produced for people who had the original, it’s to give kids who are newer to the show a chance to get some of the cool older vehicles. But what I don’t understand are some of these decisions with characters. If I were a kid, I’d definitely want to have a chance to get Chen or Skales or Samukai. The coolest part of the theme that young collectors would be missing are the villains, not the ninja. -
Have to agree with others, the dragon is indeed underwhelming. I’ll probably still buy it, depending on how it looks once we see higher resolution images. I do hope it sells well and indicates further demand for legacy villain sets and legacy sets not based on previous sets.

Where were these confirmed?

I wouldn’t be surprised if the next season has already been recorded and Kirby’s voice is able to be used that entire season. I think they often record lines well in advance for shows like this. Personally, I’d either like them to replace Kirby with a new voice actor or, if they choose to remove Cole from the story, find a way to work a new master of earth into the team.

Some of these are really cool! I'm certainly not the target audience for Legacy, as I've been following the theme since 2011, but I do try to collect the minifigures when I can. It is disappointing that Legacy 2 Nya and Zane still haven't shown up yet. For how Zane-centric Rebooted was, it's surprising that there have been no Legacy Rebooted sets featuring him. Hopefully the summer wave will fix this. I'm also surprised by the lack of gold Zane. I could understand if they only did the four original ninja, but having Lloyd and not Zane doesn't make sense to me. Is there any possibility he appears in the 4+ set? I'm also curious about the ninja designs in the battle sets. As far as I can tell, they're all very different and not based on anything from the show. They kind of feel like worse avatar suits. I think it would have been a better move to include variants of each ninja from the history of the show (e.g. blacksmith Kai or dancer Cole). Maybe these suits will feature in the next season? On a more positive note, the fact that we're getting 3 new elemental masters in one set is fantastic! Now we're only missing one. A lot of these sets look great and I'm very excited for them. Looking forward to seeing the rest!

Part of the excitement of being a LEGO fan for so long is how unpredictable it all still is. Every year there are different leaks at different times. Back in 2015, for example, we got leaks for Skybound in the form of drawn sketches. Anything is fair game and any time will be a pleasant surprise! -

This Rebuild the World Ad came up on S@H and I immediately thought how much that dragon looks like the Overlord. If an official set were that good, I’d swoon. -

I don’t think anyone’s mentioned it yet but there’s some art that leaked that shows a clearer image of one of the possible S14 villain minifigures. I must say, those masks look amazing. -
Agreed with this. There’s just not enough appeal for a Ninjago CMF. If they made one, it would likely be filled with characters/suits that fans aren’t asking for. Fans want obscure variants of each ninja, but LEGO wouldn’t be able to justify a Ninjago CMF without at least a few ninja in ninja suits. That’s what happened with TLNM which led to some fairly boring figures in that series.
-
It kind of looks like a combination of a lot of different previous suits. Maybe they’ll all be new variants that use some aspects from each season? That’s a bit of a stretch, but it’s the best I can come up with (outside of it just being a new suit altogether)

I agree that the torso/leg designs since SOG have all been pretty similar, with perhaps the notable exception of Prime Empire. I feel like a lot of the earlier suits had some great variety - think of the elemental robes, the tournament robes, the possession and skybound suits. We could definitely use some new ideas for printing! Although I will echo the admiration of the headband element. Hopefully we get all 6! -
Hard to tell, but might that be Nya in the top left corner of the Lloyd’s bike image? It’s really hard to make anything out.
-
I’m curious. Would everyone here prefer getting all 6 ninja in their S14 suits and slightly less accurate hairstyles (using only 1 new piece) or only 3-4 of the ninja but each with a unique hair piece?
-
Where have you heard that this year’s DB is less popular? From the fanbase, I’ve seen mostly praise for the set. Personally I love it much more than the Land Bounty.
-
Nya really has gotten the short end of the stick for a long time. She almost never gets spinner/gimmick sets, she still has never had her own dragon, and her vehicles are some of the smallest and least exciting. It’s interesting that whatever focus groups they ran showed that fans responded well to Nya as a ninja but not enough to be the main ninja in a set. I’m hoping that before the theme ends, whenever that is, that Nya gets her time to shine.
-
I knew I’d be kicking myself for not getting either the city or the docks. Now they’re way too expensive everywhere I look. At the time though I couldn’t justify the price.
-
If I remember correctly from years past, I think we typically get a list of sets with (translated) names in August or September, and then preliminary set pictures in September or October. But there’s no set time for leaks, so it’s just a matter of waiting. Sometimes we get info on the next season from Comic Con, but that doesn’t look very promising this year.
