  1. My instructions are being delivered today... can’t wait to start building this!
  2. I think the re-production of the manual helped to eliminate some of the expensive parts (like the rims and tires underneath the feet). The base shouldn’t require those pieces which were used for traction. There are a few others, but that was based on the original colors that Cavegod used. Also the printed dishes can be pricey, but make adjustments where you can.
  3. Cavegod has always stated that you don't have to abide 100% by the instructions... make the model your own and adjust the colors as you see fit.
  4. C'mon Christian give us a give us something!!!
  5. Christian, Are you going to provide pics of the build process, or are you just going to hit us with the completed product?
  6. Awesome, can’t wait to see the final product with all the modifications.
  7. Well this morning I placed the wing on and as most have predicted... it’s a no-go wings are too heavy and not enough torque. I will have to go back to the drawing board and utilize the worm gears in a different configuration than the stock model. This is disappointing but it is just part of the process.
  8. Ok, so got a few of my brick link orders in and I’m happy so far with the outcome. The concept works, I just need to get a couple of 24 tooth clutch gears for when the wings will reach max (lifting and lowering. I have yet to put the motor under a load but I feel it should have ample power to complete the task. You can see from the picture how I have the motor oriented.
  9. I can when I return from vacation, but if you wait for the changes that I am working on now I can provide those instead if it all works out.
  10. Nice job, I really like the interior. I’m going to be using some new gears that Lego came out with (28 tooth bevel), so hopefully I will eliminate the problem you described, just waiting for my brick link order.
  11. Here are some initial mock ups, the motor has been installed just need to get my brick link order in so I can test the mechanism. Glad that you were able to incorporate some of my ideas, i have been waiting for some people to show me what they have done. Once I have completed my recent revisions i can give you the info on the ramp.
  12. so here is the initial look without the exposed gears, my L motors should be delivered today so I can start to mock up the power functions. One of the benefits of this design increases the internal area so I’ll be able to create a better interior.
  13. a bit of progress
  14. Yes, I have already disassembled my model so that I can start figuring out how I’m going to make this work. We all know that space is extremely limited in this model and to integrate all the electronics internally will be huge challenge... hopefully I can figure it out.
  15. Ok, so I went back with some additional help and was able to come up with a design that may work. I utilized an L motor with an integrated clutch gear to prevent damage when lifting and lowering the wings... again sorry for the poor photo quality.
  16. I’m working on creating more torque thru gears ratios that may enable the M motor to lift the wings. This is just a start and now I have to begin tearing into the model so I can see how if things will work.
  17. So I started thinking a bit more and came up with a system that hides the gears giving it a smooth appearance... sorry for the bad picture quality
  18. Can’t wait to see the adjustments, appreciate all the hard work Christian!
  19. So I have had a bit of downtime since I retired from the military and decided I needed to take another look at the shuttle design. After completing Cavegods Zeta shuttle I felt that it was time to address motorizing the wings for this set, I know that people have tried to do it in the past but the current configuration didn’t allow for the motors and electronics to be stored internally. I think I may have figured out a solution, here is my initial setup on StudIO. I have also made it a bit more accurate with having 3 wing connection points instead of the two from the original model. The only drawback is that it will probably eliminate the landing gear, but I can take a better look at that once I start tearing into the model.
  20. here is a couple of pics from the lower entrance area and my version of the repulsor lift. so there are small gaps on both sides where you can route the wires through, I used the Lego LEDs which are bigger wiring than other lighting companies so whatever you choose to use should work out fine.
  21. There is plenty of discussion on this earlier in the thread, but for the most part people were acquiring the UCS sandcrawler from (Ebay, Amazon, private party)because it contains a good amount of them. I acquired a UCS, then purchased 2362b (Panel 1x2x3) but now they are ridiculously overpriced as well. Your best option is to find a UCS set and strategically place them in the model while using bricks to fill in the rest. If you can’t find a UCS for a reasonable price just stick with bricks. Wish I had better news for you.
  22. So it took a bit but finally received my lighting kit for the shuttle, installation was pretty straight forward even with the shuttle already built. It did take some disassembly but nothing overly difficult. The kit comes with a USB plug in for the lights but I didn’t want any wires to be exposed so I purchased a 9v accessory wit switch so that i could turn it on with the press of a button. I was able to hide the switch under one of the top panels where you can depress it slightly and the system will come on. Sorry not the best quality pictures
  23. Finally finished! Had a few issues when trying to add my own lower interior but I think i’m happy with the final product. Now much like my other large MOCs, gotta find space for it
  24. Yes, I’m in the same boat... no place to display! The Zeta is a great model, just think about completing the lower cargo area. Did you get the instructions fro Brickvault? I’m almost finished with the basic build but will do my own rendition of the cargo area because it isn’t included. How much has the Upsilon set you back?
