  1. Thanks for sharing this nice review. Regarding the set itself - i like the content. Interestings figs, fold-out structure (having both in- and outside is always good) and a modified design for the speeder bike. I guess this one makes for a worthy addition to the BoE set. The only criticisms adress the coloring of the light green pieces - they do not look any natural IMO and the piece/price ratio. Similar to 2009's Echo base it is terribly overpriced. The former offered the Taun-Taun; here the specials/features appear a little meager. Still, i stick to my initial reception. Will definitely go for the set when it's on a sale.
  2. You both got a point here. As far as i understood from the rumors here i expect some kind of a bigger set, however. Those tend to offer a bit for everyone and i like the larger sets of the recent past. If this style gets continued, it'll be quite ok for me. But that's a matter of stance. I also admired the Home One and overpayed just to get it (was a sale at 99.99 € instead of 124.99 € - which still is expensive. If 7879 is interior only but well done in it's own right, i'll go for it. Still, the more complete the set will be, the better customer reaction is likely to be, i guess. BoE is kind of a benchmark, IMO.
  3. The contrary, the contrary. I feel relieved to get a second chance for a Tauntaun. This does support the anticipation that the new Hoth set will make for a good standalone. This would be one league of excellence with BoE. As others mentioned i am a little afraid that injured Luke will be good for nothing except spending years of my ownership in his bacta tank. Thanks jansued for this peek at the poster. This one is lovely. I am always suprised to see how much such a piece of artwork (as in the computer games) can make LEGO figs look so funny and hilarious. It's beautiful. The figs themselves resemble a good collection for a year. Every piece of more detail like in the compelling review vagrant has linked gets more and more welcome. Good to see those closeups of the figs with their (back-)printing. Nice work. The Sith infiltrator will once - at the right price - be granted entrance to my collection, too. I also appreciate that the speeder bike can be put into the ship separately. If only TLG would stop making more and more stickers instead of printed bricks...
  4. Well, that's kind of custom but i cannot see anything 'illegal' about it. Isn't customizing what MOCs are about - improving looks and / or testing new building techniques?! Well, those vids aren't that good. I like kids buth their view of things is not mine anymore. I would not base my purchasing decisions on them. Thanks for sharing, though. Loxitane offers good video reviews, i like his channel. The vids are long and a little repetetive in showing stuff but the quality is good. He has loads of LEGOs to show and he goes into detail a lot. Another dude offering good insight on the sets is this one: Kiwomens Klick on 'uploads' to see his huge review archive. No spoken text and not overly long but very informative on features and of very high quality.
  5. Sry, i didn't intend to offend you or any other MOCer. What do you mean by illegal techniques? Glueing stuff together? BTW., just found this on the web. Might be removed soon since the blogger himself was. Just a mod/fake? At least i found that glimpse interesting.
  6. Yepp, that's it. Above that, I also hope that TLG community and marketing managers sometimes take a peek inside here. They'd better do if they intend to adress AFOL customers who spend big money on their hobby. These fora blend a good deal of common opinions. Reasonable opinions by fairly to insanely dedicated people who add to the popularity of TLG's products. As to minifigs - they belong into the discussion, too. I share your stance that they hopefully won't make up the bulge of talk, though. Well, you have a point here, a good one actually. One reason we can be happy that talented people like Brickdoctor and so many others put effort into their excellent designed MOCs. Besides us TLG might again have a look to learn from those ideas and solutions. Yeah, perfectly agreed. The set is a great basis for improvements and it also has the stuff to become a classic not only among AFOLs. Just imgaine that this one might be the last [fourth] iteration of a LEGO MF we will ever get. This does already make it look even more desirable, IMO.
  7. Sry, if i wasn't clear enough. I do not want to criticize anything. As the comparison was brought up i just went up to the more general approaches which are different. IMO TLG didn't do a bad job while following their design policy. A playset needs a selling proposition. A MOC does not. This is self explanatory.
  8. Thanks fallenangel for sharing this good in depth analysis. Getting that deep into details, 7965 might indeed appear a little awkward. Cockpit and mandible attachment could have been done much better. Still, i like the overall design, decisions on compromises and also wish to give credit to what TLG has done right. As for the interior, the shown MOC isn't very much playable, IMO. I do not go so far to insist on the Falcon being a freighter with cargo holds but there ought to be some room - and be it for figs to be placed and user's hands to play inside. The MOC offers much to look at but is stacked totally full. I don't think that children would have much fun with it. We will certainly see some photo shots and funnies created within the interior of the new Falcon. It closes the gap between the 'ancient' Falcon which basically was an empty hall (with a good top cover in regards of playability) and a fully detailed MOC (with even a toilet!) where Luke's saber practices would have destroyed everything on a spot and where no two persons/figs could pass each other. I buy the LEGOs for display, too, but a good LEGO needs features and the capability to be used as a toy, IMO. I am not speaking of UCS sets which adress a special audience (within a special audience?!) anyway. Summed up, i like the new MC. I just look forward to some good MOC ideas for the mandible and cockpit attachment.
  9. Yes, you're right. But i like it that way - we got a cockppit to fit two minifigs in. It would have been much worse if the cockpit were slimmer but we would not see the reason for Han to have a (well... hairy... ) companion. Two figs inside is a must, IMO.
  10. Those plus 7964 and 7965 are now commonly avaliable at Galeria stores (GER) for immediate pick up. Have not yet found them anywhere else. Thanks for your reply. While i don't get that Black Friday shouldn't be available outside the States, i try to understand that this tradition is just an US thingy. Thanks for the Cyber-monday info, though. Unheard of, too, but at least promising in regards of online orders.
  11. While not being adressed, i can just agree. The mandibles are too long and thin (both broadth and hight). The ahllway to the cockpit also does not fit to the cockpit very well, either. This being said, i still like the design. It's a good depiction for a system set this size. And damn, it's a LEGO Falcon anyway. Just look ahere: Falcon model above Tatooine To me, this beauty has been modelled well by TLG. Quite a few nice details and custom colored parts for flavor. I had the box in hands today (@149.99 €). Felt like a kid and had to struggle down the urgency to buy it right away. Really looking forward to a sale offering it at a 10 bricks per buck ratio. If i can hold myself back for long enough, that is.
  12. Sry if i misinterpreted it. I hope that the set offers kind of both, indoor and outdoor. For a good standalone set like BoE, i gladly spend 100+ bucks. Thanks for your swift answer. While i do not intend hoarding minifigs in a ship , it is very good to know that there is quite some room inside the ship. A set this size should offer moveable features and opportunities to (re)create scenes with it. It seems that this prerequisite was met. Considering again, the set becomes more and more attractive. Basically all figs are well designed. TLG even did some elaborative leg printing which is always good. The set might find addition to my this years' 'must haves'. This would lead to me breaking a vow to not buy anything about the animated series. Did i already mention that your review is excellent?!
  13. Thanks, yes. I looked it up there already and it would be feasible to get it a little cheaper (30 bucks plus shipping) but still this is very expensive for what you get, IMHO. Thanks you two for reviewing / sharing and letting us know. I was not planning to get the set but it looks much better than expected. I might think it over again. While i don't like the character (i never loved supermen anyway), Quinlan Vos has a very good face and torso printing. Same for the clones, whichever 'name' they might bear. Is it possible to place all figs inside the ship? What can one do with the 'side compartments'? Do minifigs fit into them?
  14. Thanks andrewqwy for the infos on what you have seen. While my imagination cannot yet cope some disparities (no rebel troops, no gate/entrance) there are some interesting spots we can expect. Since none of the more recent, large OT sets did disappoint me, i assume that this one will be good, too. Hoth Leia and a Taun-Taun sound promising. I hope the 'battery/guns' means kind of a real turret and not just some weapon we know from the BPs. Still, an official pic (isn't it time for such one???) or announcement would be good and not too much asked for, IMHO. BTW, it seems the base is intended to combine with other Hoth sets. That makes me wonder a little. Larger sets use to make excellent playable scenes in their own right. Why should TLG deviate from this now?! Umm, if 7749 weren't such rare and terribly overpriced in my country, i'd desperately try to get one. Just to get sure. But - it goes for 39.99 € atm, which equivalents some 55-60 USD. For just 155 bricks!!!
  15. Thanks for that update. They're not yet in the store in my city. I assume they will arrive about next week or so. Still, the webshop just added 7964 Republic Frigate (129.99 €). Scheduled to be available "soon". August, too, is a good guess, IMHO.
  16. That haunts me either. Good to see i am not the only one being awfully curious about the upcoming Hoth Echo Base.
  17. Galeria backed up their webshop with some more summer wave sets: 7956 Ewok Attack (29.99 €) 7957 Sith Nightspeeder (29.99 €) 7959 Geonosian Starfighter (39.99 €) 7962 Anakin&Sebulba Podracers (99.99 €) I have not yet seen any other retailers having the sets but hope for them to follow up soon. At least the summer wave releases seem to stay on schedule. Competition might help the sake of us customers and speed release and special sales... BTW., does Black Friday help anyone outside the US?
  18. Sry, wrong thread. Please delete post.
  19. Wow, the helmet of the astronaut is terrific. A great mirror effect, too.
  20. A very good review, Russian Bear. I have the set myself and must say that you did a good job in making it look appealing. Regarding the set itself, i like it for several reasons. Pricing atm is good, the vehicle is simple but has good and big bricks to build customs and of course the lot is a good army builder. Gungans are fairly rare these days and the figs have nice moulds (i still can't forget the chocolate fountain joke ).
  21. Just found some news on the net. German Galeria-Kaufhof has the new 7961 Sith Infiltrator (69,99 €) and the 7965 Millennium Falcon (149,99 €) on their webshop. Yesterday the sets were neither online nor in the store.
  22. Ah, thanks. However, i just called up S@H to ask for the missing poster from the '4th'. For one, they told me that the poster would be underway, being sent separately and secondly they generally advised to refrain from buying the summer wave sets from shadowy retailers online now. The sets would not be out yet so selling would likely be fraud vs. customers. The summer wave sets have even not been introduced to the S@H teams yet... While S@H certainly wishes to maximise sales via their portal, i am about to shrink back from getting too ambitious...
  23. Umm, but where to get them? I was several stores today: mytoys, Galeria-Kaufhof and Müller. Also checked for online shops like TRU, Amazon and S@H. Nothing yet. Is anything known about the usual public releases in shops after the official release dates have been spoken out? What does experience tell? Sadly there is no official lego store around...
  24. Finally... my Tantive arrived this morning. After reading the comments here i was afraid the ARF would possibly not be included. I was wrong. *sigh* While the poster is missing, i am a bit relieved that its not the other way round. Now i wonder whether it would make any sense to ask after the poster at S@H. It was not on the order list however, so there is no reason to complain?! BTW., the ship itself is one heck of a beauty and this is the finest box i ever received. All other original boxes use to have some minimal damages due to shipping.
  25. Thank you. I reconsidered and finally joined the VIP program. LEGO customer phone service is as gentle as it is helpful. With the new Falcon and an (hopefully huge) Hoth Base just around the corner, those red brickling points might come in handy soon.
