  1. Yes, you are right. I just reached the page via the international portal 'dot com'. But prices are outlined in USD. Yes, you actually need to get 2 for the discount on the second article. Checked it. A little misleading, isn't it? But you get the MINI lighthouse anyway. Sry, just spotted another one: bol.de online store now has the summer wave sets, too. They already show discounted prices and are scheduled to be available on the 26nd of July.
  2. TRU International online shop sells LEGO SW sets at 50% off... Why the heck don't we get this over here in Germany?!
  3. Thanks. Hope they get online again soon.
  4. Ah, so i stand corrected. While i like your idea - i can't believe in TLG emphasising too much on Mos Eisley. But a redesign of an enlargerd Chalmun's Spaceport cantina definitely is a must, IMO.
  5. That's interesting. Indeed Piett would be the sensible choice for the set. However, from the blurry poster pics i saw of yet, one really can't tell this fig from a regular Impie officer. And yes - what's up with brickshelf? Can't check on the LDD models from there...
  6. Got a 7749 from secondary market today (new). Will make a fine addition to my growing Hoth collection. Can't find 7666 at any reasonable price (app. 2x of retail value), though.
  7. Count me in, too. Always had a soft spot for it. Despite it's designation and purpose, the sleek appearance has something menacing - perfectly fits the style of a SW vehicle. I therefore very much welcomed it's appearance in TPM. But as told, kids might not feel too thrilled about it... Perfectly agreed. There are quite some good MOCs of it around. I am afraid that ought to be enough for a mere 2 secs of screen appearance. well, as far as i can see, much is being wished for. In my perception while following this thread for some time, Cloud City and sth on Jabba are on tops. My love (rehash of 6211) might very well have to wait until ANH hits the cinemas again. Still, Could City or Jabba's domain could appease me, too.
  8. Thanks @ ceroknight and Masked Builder BTW, dunno whether it was mentioned already - the summer wave sets are ready for preorder @ amazon.de. They indeed are scheduled to arrive on August, 3rd.
  9. Woops, who does that? What company have i got to get on my radar?
  10. A big thanks, Hendrik! Thinking of the pros: - interior with several different areas (some new ones) - a Tauntaun - new figs and new prints/hair - foldable, many features and kind of complete (heroes vs. villains) that pricing sounds ok. However, i expect the brick count to be around the same as 8038. If lower... Yes, that is. With some exceptions like the X-wing at 49.99 USD vs. 64.99 EUR. AT-AT, ARC-170, Slave I and some more have ~ +10 EUR vs. the USD price. Now think of the exchange values at around 1.4 USD = 1 EUR. I'll better drop that topic now *ahem*. Well, Hendrik told us that he had spoken to an TRU employee. I'd judge the statement to be TRU's price then. People overseas will of course get it at a lower price. Brickdoctor's guess at 80 USD sounds pretty educated. Sry but what's this? B2B is obvious but...?
  11. Quoted for truth from an objective perspective. From my personal stance, i can partly agree. Not at all playing with the sets i own, i could of course live without any playing features or just very few of them. However, just for display one would not have to buy LEGO and pay such high prices. Pure display models can be purchased for fractions of TLG's prices. Nevertheless, LEGOs inspire a multitude of memories from childhood one can be very fond of. Next to this nostalgia, for an AFOL the sets actually have the side effect of being moddable to a maximum extent (creativity), have those funny little brickmen and hobbies like photography, humorous exprsssionism and stuff can be used to benefit from ownership of the sets. Without play value, the unique selling proposition would disappear. Your point is absolutely valid: Just like Lucas Arts with their CW animated series, TLG requires to breed a future group of potent customers who already have a word on their parents' budget and spending as children. As a six or eight year-old, one would be absolutely amazed to play with 7879. In this regard the new Hoth base is almost perfect, i think. Thus that's the way for TLG to go. OT fans (fools like me) will still consider getting it for the above told reasons. In my case this one will get a place on my shelf for sure. The overall design and combination of contents is clever enough to offer something special/new/desirable (choose your preferrence) to make it attractive. Since the set is more or less outlined to be a playset, the price hopefully not skyrocket away from the reasonable. Children still must concvince their (grand-)parents that this is a wonderful and worthy toy that can be afforded. Due to the above considerations, i think that pricing will have dear impact on the overall economic success of the set - more than it has on other sets who have more stuff to make them longlasting classics.
  12. Well, we might very well expect some more on TPM next year. Otoh Gunga (there's already a sub for it), rehashed Vultures (Naboo fighter just reappeared) and the ground Battle (Gungans plus Kaadus / fambaas - the start has be done with the battle droid carrier) do offer plenty opportunity to enlarge existing scenes. I am pretty much expecting some more for Tatooine, too. Yet it features the most outdated LEGO sets and Jabba (palace/boonta eve racing arena - the pod racers are already there to combine), Wattoo (repair shop/market place/cantina) and Maul (duel - he just re-emerged with his new Infiltrator) do for some memorable sets. They would also be valuable because of the numerous later appearances of Tatooine. Some continuity wouldn't harm, i think.
  13. Oh my, that's gorgeous. I wouldn't have thought that one can do so much without all sets of a theme (i.e. scene) gathered together. You really optimised to get the max out of your sets and successfully avoided flooding the whole room with your hobby. I hope you have a glass cabinet and some cover to deny the sun bleaching your precious treasures. The top diorama also clearly shows the value of 8038. It's a great standalone and only requires a few more Impies to make for a memorable battle. In the center, 7749 celebrates a surprising appearance. Better than i thought. Two of them almost make up for a missing base. Your Tatooine is colourful and random - just like a backwater planet full of civilians ought to be. Still it shows what we are missing atm. Sry, i am just off to a different thread.
  14. Yep, sadly true. I tried it and used some official sets i am interested in as a reference. Huge chunks of the builds were shaded out as being not available for sale. So the question isn't actually about the price but the availability of needed parts. Bottom line is: LDD is a wonderful educative tool and might make for some basic builds for you or your children to create with it. It's an entertaining tool for a computer wiz, too. But it doesn't help you around for official sets (be it discontinued or not). I even think that TLG does not make some parts available on purpose - which is perfectly understandable.
  15. Ah, i see. Thanks. I will still try to have a look into it. Maybe this LDD can show whether my end can be met.
  16. Thanks for the replies. I guess it's a fairly safe bet TLG will go on for the next years. One other thing bothers me: If someone wanted to get an older set that isn't available on the primary market anymore. Would it be possible to recreate the set by ordering all the necessary parts from TLG? Would that work via that CAD (eh, kind of...) program?
  17. Wow, that looks beautiful and inspiring. I'm gonna get a glass cabinet soon to finally build up all the stuff i recently bought. Do not want it go get dusty. Your diorama gives a nice impression what difference an AT-AT does to that scene.
  18. Two questions actually: - next year we do expect SW to hit cinemas again. Will the new films come in chronological order and annually? - Is the SW license to TLG being continued annually, too or have they taken it for a longer term?
  19. Thanks for this swift reply. I reconsidered and voted, then. I don't like the set but now took the following into consideration: I personally don't like the animated series at all and found this asymmetric vehicle to be of no concern to a collection. It has a bunch of huge stickers. Nevertheless, the minifig prints are excellent and Anakin's hair is a beautiful piece. Quite some effort was put into designing the comic imitation of Maul. The original was a fascinating char and this one might be to the CW series as well. Due to the good playability value i did cast an 'average' then. If i had to vote on your review: It's outstanding, as said above.
  20. Thanks for the photos. Especially the ones on interior/compartments are very interesting. Still for a review one could recommend you to choose a different background and do something about the lighting which is poor.
  21. Thanks for this very good review. Crispy pics and everything about the set is shown well. I cannot vote, though. Shall i rate the set or your review in the first question? Shall i cast a vote on that 'Savage' char or the minifig? Might sound stupid but i have extremely opposite receptions on those respective questions.
  22. Last one was 10198 at 20% off (the 4th was with me that day). Planning to get the Falcon any soon at an at least slight discount. This one will be followed by 7879 with some smaller OT stuff in between.
  23. Sry Oky Wan, but i couldn't help. Kudos for this great fun pic. The bottom line is that in this set we see what 7666 did lack. IMO TLG went some risk when deciding to do a new Hoth Base. They tried to appease many customers by meeting their expectations. The idea looks like this: offer what's not there yet. Some want a medical bay with a bacta tank, some a command center, some a bunch of turrets, some a big set, some a vehicle, some want new figs/molds/prints, some another Taun-Taun, some long for much playability and so on. In this set all these things are packed together. They even appear a little much stashed together and the set does not look very familiar at the very first glance. But it also rewards collectors who have other Hoth sets by compatibility with existing ones. Together they certainly create an awesome and huge Hoth diorama for a multitude of battle scenarios. It fits TLG's policy to offer a versatile collection of playing features and certainly makes for a good toy (primary customer target group). Kids will loke the Taun-Taun, hero minifigs and funny droids. The overall combination might not be perfect but is a fairly good compromise i think. I can always hear people complain on what a set does not have - here we find quite a lot it actually has. And that sounds good to me. I would have felt deeply disappointed if the set were little more than an Ion cannon or a shield generator. These are good but only had seconds of screen appearance. Probably beautiful but effectively pointless. This base promises way more fun and MOCers will find plenty opportunity to optimise the interior. There are entrances so you have the option to play/admire from in- and outside. The set can be folded out for play and display alike. I already hold my breath for the brick count and piece/price ratio. Depending on this i will get it sooner or later, respectively. But this one does belong to a LEGO SW collection, IMO. Yes, it might not meet everyone's heightened expectations and does not beat 8038 - the single best playset so far - but it really isn't any bad. This set closes one crucial gap on LEGO Hoth and combined with the gate set, turret/wall set, cave set and an AT-AT, there is little left for TLG to make for the planet.
  24. Wow! Utterly awesome! A big thx for posting this highly wanted info! You just emerged to become my personal superhero, supersonic. You stand up to your alias Yay! While i should be ashamed to be this predictable i just confess to be guilty on all accounts. Did i already mention that i NEED this set?!
  25. How gorgeous! Congratulations on your fine work. What an admirable effort in building this. An entertaining adventure story and pretty funny, too! Keep it up!
