Latest impact of other themes on historic themes

Why are people so excited about the power ranger? If I buy a case of figs, I'll gladly trade all the power rangers for a viking or a knight. -

The order that I placed that said it shipped just before they shut down is still making it way here to me, across the US now. The order that I placed just before it shut down now says "backordered". -
I mostly build MOCs. Occasionally I'll build a set with a family member. Definitely 99% of my stuff is from the PAB wall and B&P online. Can't get pieces efficiently enough any other way.

Best of luck to you. It's not pleasant to see what's going on everywhere, and being stuck at home must be frustrating. Is your mail service still running? -
Are forums still relevant when compared to comments?
Grover replied to astral brick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I never read comments on articles. I am not on instgram, tik tok, facebook and whatever other social media junk is out there. I am happy to read forums, as they are accessible via the web and the phone. I am here to get feedback and conversations on my builds, not generally discuss a lot things with others (although here I am doing just that...!). There may be less general discussion, but I don't see another great way to get decent feedback on builds. I certainly get less feedback on Flickr than I do on these forums, probably 10x less.- 75 replies

Yeah, I've never seen it in white except digitally.

I can certainly understand if they pull the bricks and minis, but it's the only reason I ever go into a Lego store, so I hope that they're back by the time I finally get back to one. I also hope that they still have the easter figs and don't pull them. I somehow doubt they will do that, though.

The wall panel is a white version of this, that you pointed out in the Guarded Inn: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=4444p03&idColor=3#T=C&C=3 I originally thought the render was a greyscale of the yellow version when I first looked at it.

Yeah, I can't get in to order now either. I must have just gotten in under the wire. If you want to check numbers, you can go into the replacement part section, but you have to know the set number. No prices there, but can be useful to look up elements. -

Weird. I just ordered this morning with no issues. -

Also, buying pieces off B&P just to resell is against the terms and conditions that everyone has to sign but never reads. -
Some fantastic work, as we have come to expect from you! You use a lot of nice techniques, as Kai has pointed out, not to mention great use of color and the awesome tile floor! Great job!

@Frike, try calling. As long as you want 15 types of elements or less, they can take B&P by phone. -
Looking good! I think that helps it pop a little more. Great work!

I like the design! Based on seeing what others have had success with in the Ideas competition, I have a few specific suggestions to help make it stand out from other builds: 1. Make the porch rails and spindles dark brown. This provides a bit of contrast that will help it stand out. 2. Add a bit of ground cover--some flowers here and there, a few tall weeds, etc. Little details like this help set the build apart. 3. Sprinkle in a few darker or lighter green plates (1x1s) occasionally to break up the olive green. Maybe a few stalks along the walls to help show uncut grasses. 4. Add an animal or two. A few birds, a rabbit, or a chicken helps bring the scene to life. 5. It might be good to add a puddle or a 1 plate deep gully under the archway that is ostensibly for drainage to give it a more realistic feel. 6. Add one of those strings with the plastic bars on it to clip some flags or streamers to, running from the house eaves to the far corner of the wall. 7. Add a pot with a small plant to the rail. Despite this being a fortress, people would probably still decorate it, so making it looked lived in will bring it to life. Great job, and I hope it does well!

Another really great build! You have a lot of fantastic things going on here. In particular, I really like the lime green incorporation. It feels natural, and I don't see a lot of folks that can make it look like that. Love the story of the cyclops and the gracious way the Zamorians deal with them. You also do a great job using FullPlate's trees. It's not always easy to incorporate someone else's techniques, and you did it well. The hut looks great with the round plates and the olive roof pieces, and the wooden decorations above the door are excellent. Definitely one of the better corn builds I've seen, too. The new rock pieces thrown in really help break up the rockwork that usually looks very vertical. One of my favorite parts is the huge minifig flower heads as giant petaled flowers. My only critique is that the cave looks too rounded with the arch piece, like it was intentionally carved. Could be what you intended, but it doesn't quite look natural to me; maybe a brick built arch would have helped. Very small nitpick, though. Outstanding work!

The value just doesn’t count toward promotional offers. -

You also have to be very aware of shipping costs. I rarely buy from Brick link Europe unless I need a lot of something and it’s significantly cheaper than B&P. Also the diversity of the pieces. More expensive from B&P is offset by four lots to get what you want from BL. -

Is the pirate lady’s only accessory that sword? It’s a lame accessory if you ask me. For $5 they should give her a monkey, treasure chest, a new sword mould, or at least a shoulder bag. I didn’t really think about that before but the price point begs for more than that. -
Well done! I like the sand and dark green together. The grey tree trunk is pretty cool, too. Most of the oaks in my area have grey bark, but it's hard to use light grey for bark and for stone, but you managed to avoid that and it looks just fine to me. Love the brick forge sheep, too. Definitely gives me a springtime vibe for a northern climate, and the dog with the sheep is a nice touch. Well done!

The only complaint I have about the viking is the blue print on his chest for his cloak. Had they left that off, it would be easy to substitute his cloak for another color. As is, it becomes more difficult and may not fit into everyone's color schemes for their armies. -

I will use her face on the hookers in my red light district. I agree, it's not very piratey to me, but I can replace it with another face. Overall, I like this series. I can see a lot of uses for the parts, particularly with the viking and the pirate woman. Oddly, the knight is less useful as an army builder. Great as a standalone, but knights were the elite units and not typically duplicated, so unless I get a second one to get a squire for the knight dressed in similar garb, I can't see an army of these guys looking realistic. I would like to see variations in the BAM kiosk, however. The viking is absolutely superb, in my opinion, and I will get as many as I can. I'm hoping for a greater number of him in the distribution. -

Keep an eye on B&P. I managed to get my collection off B&P back in July 2018. They'll show up again if one appears in another set.
