  1. Is the leg print meant to be askew?
  2. I had hopes for Young Justice when Superboy appeared. Maybe with a recommissioned series the hope will come back. As much as I kind of like* Teen Titans Go, I don't like the Raven fig that much. Hopefully the JLA sets will prove popular. The news of stand alone movies could eventually prove fruitful. * Disclaimer. RedHoodPug Jr. will binge watch TTG, and I have been, in behavioural terms, flooded by it. Turns out there are loads of Easter Eggs.
  3. In light of the news from DCEU, are there any sets or minifigs that folks are particularly anticipating? With the Titans show in production, is there a possibility that we could see Hawk and Dove, or any other Titans/YJ members? Part of me is pleased to be seeing this expansion, the other part not so much seeing as there has been the chance to do Flash, Legends and Arrow sets in the same way as Suicide Squad and alas no banana.
  4. Thank you. They look pretty good actually. I'm ok with Egghead's face print, it's done well enough for me. I'm pretty sure that the other rogues on the villain shelf will tremble in fear and bow down to the sheer grandeur of a guy who genuinely wears his Y-fronts on the outside.
  5. The picture is the one that has been around for a couple of weeks. The quality isn't great. Condiment King also has a green hair piece. There is an air of preliminary about them, so there is no telling what CKs weapons will look like until the finished product leaks. Squishee cups would be preferable, though. Would Captain Hooks face work, or is the smile too quirky the other way?
  6. You already said it - Argos have them currently at £2.99. I'm still waiting to know what to do with mine, just in case they go and drop him into the CMF.
  7. Given that Barbara Gordon was depicted as a strong female lead, and got a popular actress to voice her suggests that the studio were aware of targeting a broader demographic. Then look at the number of female characters in the movie. Then consider that most of the sets (including the upcoming ones) contain a female character, in most cases two. Girls were included in the marketing. The Lego Movie fared better and was always going to because it was a new idea. Sequels rarely match the glory.
  8. Some great points coming in here, it's good to see. I would dearly love the whole range, but that isn't viable for me right now. It will be less so in January when the third wave and new DC sets arrive, but hey, my time will come. Like a lot of Lego, the target demographic is always cited as kids, but here we are on an AFOL forum. The in jokes within the film, along with the Easter eggs and characters as obscure as Mime and the Condiment King suggest that the demographic is slightly wider than assumed. Yes, to kids 7 years is an age, and they will be as aware of Ninjago as Batman. But look at the pages of this thread; there are members asking about the characters and their history as well. I dare say the same is happening on the Ninjago threads. I will always remember my Good Samaritan deed when another dad saw me furiously going through the CMFs and joked about how long I had been there, then admitted he wanted to find the "pencil guy" for his son. Good job it was the first one I found.
  9. I think you get two types of buyers: 1) less affluent / more casual; (kids and grandparent gifts) and 2) richer / mega fan (birthday and AFOL crowd) I'm a less affluent mega fan. We've only seen the first wave and it's an in house IP. Even when the whole line for both themes are out and finished, you can't really compare the bottom line. The cost of accessing Batman et al to TLG is an unknown to us mere mortals. Then you have other factors like man hours, were the exact same designers used on both themes (probably not), did they forecast a comparable result (again, probably not) and the variables in demographic, i.e. Ninjago doesn't have the same number of fans as Batman, it's not possible. Blaming obscure characters is also moot, because to the casual buyer - child or adult - all of the Ninjago characters are obscure, especially the fish-based villains. DC already has a long established fan base, Ninjago has been going for like, a tenth of the time Batman has. Does DC have a greater reach outside of Lego sets than Ninjago? Yes. Does it cost more to develop a DC product than an in house IP? Undoubtedly. The only comparable themes would be the two sides of Superheroes or Ninjago and Nexo Knights. And then you need how much it costs to use DC vs Marvel and how popular Ninjago is compared to NK. Otherwise it's a quagmire of data currently not at my disposal, and this is the wrong thread for it, really.
  10. I'm missing the part where TLG announced TLBM as a failure. Unless deliberately mentioning that the theme was a success is double speak, I'm of the impression that it has fared well. When they list their own IPs and Batman, that suggests it is doing well. I know we are flailing wildly off topic with this, but I personally think that there are other factors at play here, Dimensions being one of them, and most of the other licensed property outside of DC, Marvel, Potter and SW as well. Without putting on my investigative nerd specs, I would say that the blame does not lie with TLBM, but something more serious.
  11. The book isn't bad, it's not the usual book of fun facts, but actually has a plot. The build is ok for what it is, too.
  12. Shame that Easter Bunny doesn't come with a cape. There must be a suitable one out there. Greater shame about the lack of a wizards hat.
  13. To be honest I'm still mentally preparing myself for the financial hernia that is January! I would be happy to see other heroes and villains. Don't get me wrong, there are still some spaces left at the Bat rogues table, and like I've said before there is always room for extended Batfamily members. There is however a mightily untapped vein of the DCU that always be welcome on my shelves. Also I'm not sure what other water based Batvillains there are to use.
  14. Holy smokes! Can't I go to work for one day without someone finding a way to part me from my money? At least we know that there are more of the suits coming, and that TLG put a lot of faith in the theme. And it's 1/4? Yipes. Going by the translation, this set is TLBM, not necessarily all of them.
  15. It's true, Batman does accidentally kick Alfred into the grand piano. Good nod to Batman Begins, too. Be a shame to waste it.
  16. Grundy was originally a Green Lantern Alan Scott villain, being partly wood - or at least a wood mulch blend - would prove a good match. Alan Scott living in Gotham and being due for a Silver Age upgrade meant that Batman was always going to show up and steal his villain at some stage. I would still like to see Grundy one day. And a JSA. Sorry for going off topic.
  17. That would be B:TAS Two-Face. Go whole hog original and put old Harv in tweed/plaid. Just not Tommy Lee Jones, please. Even TLBM avoided that howler.
  18. I'd take a White Rabbit fig. Some of the other New 52 villains weren't bad. A Batman Inc. team would be appreciated, as would some Talons.
  19. I'm going to be honest, I laughed hard at the set description, then had to stop because I don't like having to explain jokes, let alone back stories, character development, storylines and plot twists, the basis for the joke and the whole Lego set description thing, to the in-laws, let alone my wife. And even then it would be a tough sell. The 3 year old might have got it, though. Thank you Duncan, that made my tourist-filled Bank Holiday
  20. @Duncan Young can this set be paired with the long awaited Abin Sur visit to Ysmault set, so he can pop in and naively release Atrocitus?
  21. Well, they are doing the whole superpowers pieces soon, and I'm sure TLG would be on board with the family friendly Red Lantern initiation process
  22. On the strength of that the Ninjago series has Garmadons pouring out of its proverbial ears, two Lloyds with new (as in introduced within this theme) headgear, and various fish villains. TLG are as capable of delivering good surprises as bad. None worse in this theme - to me - than Manbat with his no-change-here attitude. Considering the TMNT sets got some random new moulds once upon a time, they could have smoothed over that particular rough edge. Also the cowl with goggles is technically new, as are Gordon's, Barbara's and Dick's hair.
  23. Now that I can get on board with. There would only be one Orange Lantern set available, though. Just Larfleeze minifig and a box of trans-orange minifigs. Guy Gardner minifig would get confused and start turning up in all the other sets. Poor Saint Walker minifig couldn't build anything without the Green set.
  24. Shame about Dr Double X, he's as obscure and random as most of the villains chosen. I guess they had a cap on how many as well as appropriateness.
  25. No pins but a Technic brick with holes on the back. There is also the Batcomputer podium with its moveable walkway. To me the suit rack should be near the new suits, if the two sets are modular to each other.
