  1. Thank you for the comments people. Today is the last day of voting, and I feel the support has been insane. Let's hope it's enough to make the cut...
  2. Wow, I really like the technical solution on how you managed to get a front mounted engine with that steering axle over the engine. Absolute masterclass! But for me, the looks are just a miss... The real car is just too complex for the inventory of the set
  3. Hello everyone, Today I would like to talk about my latest model, one which I built for Bricklink Designer Program series 10. And here I'm talking about the All-Terrain Hybrid Racer, which is a model I wanted to make for some time now, but being busy with alternates for official sets, I just didnt't get a chance to build it. And by "I wanted to make for some time now", I don't mean this particular vehicle, but the combination of features inside, of which I'll describe now. My main focus with this build is to make it attractive to as many people as possible, so I really tried to make it as a mix between cool functions and looks. The looks are very important for shelf display, and functions for Technic enthusiasts and building experience. I also tried my best to make sure the functions are as visible as possible, without compromising the bodywork. Therefore, I will first talk about the gearbox, which is a 4 speeds (YET ANOTHER ONE?) and is controlled with a 90 deg shift lever on the roof. The shifter itself was quite interesting to make, as there are no rubber bands allowed, so I used rubber liftarms, and a "square" brick built to keep the fixed positions. Now regarding the box itself, it is connected to the 4 wheels by 3 differentials. I have used the center diferential as the drive gear itself (I've seen it first in @Didumos69 Hammerhead car) and used the rather new 24 and 20 cluch gears to get the following ratios: The gearbox drives the V6 engine, that yeah yeah, of course it spins, but this time I also added spinning twin-turbochargers! They are driven by some 16T gears, and I am happy to report everything works extremely smoothly in every gear. The guidelines of the program mentioned "a sustainable future" therefore I added a dummy electric motor to simulate hydrid assist. Please see the internals below: Next I will talk about the adjustable suspension height, which is controlled by the black 20T gear on the roof. I used a bigger gear (than the regular 12T) because it makes the actuation easier on the user, to lift the whole car. The system is worm gear based, and I used knob gears for the perpendicular drive, to make sure nothing would skip. Basically the top mounting point of the shocks changes place. I don't need to say which set it was inspired from, you all know it ;) The height change itself is not massive, but it's around 1.5 studs difference between MIN and MAX. The steering was straight forward, but you see I had to run the steering axle throught the gearbox. There is a small perpendicular drive that also connects to the steering wheel. The link to hubs connection is made in such a way to allow room for the steering rack to move under the engine, and to allow room for the shock absorbers. Other than that I want to give credit to DailyDrivenExotics, for the inspiration of the engine bay and rear mounted radiator. They built this crazy Ferrari F12 drift car, and I had to borrow some design cues. The other main thing I borrowed was the hood having a cutout for the turbos. Here is their insane build, and then mine: We can talk about openanbles, of which you have seen the hood, but I also added butterfly doors (honestly, just because I can ;) A pillar mounted hinge, and by using the #3 connector in the door contruction, they actually fit nicely with the side of the car when closed: Last but not least, the interior. It is based on some Dakar racers that I have seen online, and therefore it has bucket seats, and a bunch of gauges and simulated buttons. It's not supposed to be a Bentley really. Plus, I made some stickers to show how functions work: Finally, I have built the model in real life, and I must say I am extremly pleased with it. It's rock solid (can be picked up by the roof with no problem, or even the hood), besides the system parts on the door mirrors, which do their own thing: I really think this can be the first Technic model to make it in this program, and if you think so too, please vote for it with "Love it!" here: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-10/4283/All-Terrain-Hybrid-Racer All you need is a Bricklink account and then it takes 10 seconds to vote (more seconds than to read this post ). **An extended photo gallery of the model can be found -> here I want to give a special shoutout to @kbalage for the review of my model that you can see below: I want to thank you for your time reading my post, and I hope we can have a Technic model in production soon ;) Sincerely, Alex
  4. I promise guys, the model is so much more pretty IRL than these photos. I had the pleasure of seeing it at the Buwizz Gathering, and it's a stunner, accompanied by the Rally car. Well done Nico!
  5. This looks offensive, in the sense that overall it's a too simple representation of a 911. I think Milan could have done much better, especially compared to his previous work. This being said, I appreciate the extra function, that's unique.
  6. Andrew Tate Bugatti, very interesting :) What color is your Bugatti?
  7. Oh man, this is incredible! I wanted myself to make a purple car for a while, but I never researched the possible parts available. This is great inspiration :) The front looks very aggressive and accurate, and I also really enjoy how you made the exhaust pipes under the car. But for me, the rear 3/4 paneling is just the best part of the model as it captures the shape very very well. Congrats of this superb model!
  8. Oh my, what an insane build! You did a good job replicating the body lines, I would say near perfectly. And making a realistic chassis is very doable in this scale and allows for nice details. Honestly, I would 3D a spirit of Ecstasy, just to top of this build, it deserves it. Keep us posted!
  9. I'm definitely getting this one. Tires are really nice!
  10. First of all, thanks for building my model! The updates you did to it are really welcome, and very cool looking for sure. I really, like how you managed to improve on the lacking parts of my model, and you accomplished a very beautiful final result. I only wish the set had better pieces so I could do a better job, but as you've seen and mentioned, the set wasn't quite that generous in parts. Keep it up!
  11. Not sure, but maybe the new 2L ring is compatible with the old 2L connector that could keep the old 2L ring in place?
  12. Ohh man, and I had an awesome idea about this animal thing... I guess I'll keep it for the next contest (haven't started building yet)
