42128 - Heavy-Duty Tow Truck
Void_S replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It really well-made and is felt like a real truck steering - you just turn the wheel and don't feel any feedback due truck's weight and hydraulic power steering system. It has a huge difference from rack and pinion steering in cars. -
No, they closed this series in 2005 , as they did't provide required space for full-sized semitrailers when had sleepers (the trucks were availabe to operate with shortened dumps only, not to viloate the total lenght limitation). The daycabs met the limitations but were useles for long-haul opeartions. So they were closed and their quite thin market share was divided between traditional cabover series and rigid construction dumps. But.. I still enjoy how interesting they looked: a full-widthed cabover compartment with a "nose".

Ooops, I forgot about the slew, my bad. I was looking at the excavator image and it turns the whole body, while backhoe defintelly needs all four motors to operate the digging feature. So, right, it needs more then 4 ports. Having the bucket and stick connected will limit the playability alot. Or have a manual switch like 42070 had but it was a silly idea too...

This photo reminds me Scania T-series from 1990-2000 years wich had daycab taken from cabovers shifted rearward and with a conventional hood-"nose" on the engine compartment.

Actually it could be with two modes (I never saw the backhoe which easilly runs and digs at the same time) so let's imagine: - drive - steer - front bucket (it may have a complicated geometry so lifts and then tilts when reaches the higherst point. But the motor stops and the highest point and tilts the bucket only when the second button is pressed) - land the outriggers and switch to digging mode In the digging mode: - lift the main arm - unfold the secondary arm - tilt the rear bucket - raise the outriggers and switch to the drive mode.

Control+ controlled Pump+Tank unit with integrated manometer to run the pump motor only when the pressure drops lower some threshold and possibuty to see the pressure in the app? Ouuhhh I would love it))) -
The camera or software to edit photos just sets the vibrance too high. The resulting pictures looks tasty but a bit unnatural. My screen also show Megalodon in 100%-trustworthy Dark Azure, with no any doubts...

XTN's garage
Void_S replied to XTN's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It looks brilliant now, but the seat-made front fenders had more "its own recognizable style". New liftarm-made look... I don't know... Too boring? Just my personal opinolion. Additionally, I especially like the under-lift towing arm, the steering rack nicelly fits here and makes specific "extendable" apperance even if really cannot be extended. -
[MOC] Road roller

It's a problem, as any really thin solution, like thin liftarms, made of Lego ABS will be fragile enought... -
[MOC] Road roller
Void_S replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
You may use the pipes here, they are thinner and will not rub the drums. Only you will need to reinforce the triangles connection at the back side. Personally, they would work the best if added between the bigger outer frame (7*11) and drums to hold the "cleaners" and fill the gaps. I would dream about such roller as an official set if it has this frame -

With hinging the upper "eyebrow" a bit higher? Now I see it has a different position but possibly I'm just visually mistaken. -

Did you change something at the front? Looking at this angle I would say it looks amazing, not such a donkey as other reviews show it. -

I was keeping them until official release but postponeded a bit due to high workload... There is my variant of the rear side that I made when the leaked images incuded only the front of the car. It a bit longer than official model due to 5*3 fairings panels mounted horizontally to make the inclined taillights panel and also inclined bottom of the bumper. -
Maybe a crazy idea, but with all-computerized C+ hub there is a possibility for on-demand motorized functions: when you press the action button the hub activates the function in a distribution gearbox and runs the motor. When the button is released the motor stops and gearbox returns back to the neutral position. So, for the user it looks like it has all functions are motorized like with in dividual motors.

Possibly, it was purposed to ensure both pinholes are alligned correctly but for some reason the red circles were moved from the pinholes to numbers -
