Really? I'll look forward to getting some of those pieces if that's the case.

I think there might be two variants of the Vampire minifigure. One of the sets doesn't seem to indicate that he has a glow in the dark head, and this photo makes me skeptical that the head is translucent. I'm thinking only the Vampire minifigure from the hearse is glow in the dark. EDIT: Actually, the box art for the castle makes it look like his head is glow in the dark also, so I'm just more confused now.

Yeah! The two trans colors mix suprisingly well.

Congrats to all the winners in both categories! And to everyone else I'd just like to say that there were so many lovely entries and I enjoyed all of them. I'd also like to thank WhiteFang and everyone else involved with the competition. It was really fun! Thank you to all who voted.

That's low budget? I like your idea of low budget. Really colorful and classic looking. I love the clean details of it.

That's a nice little droid. I don't know how entirely accurate it is, but it's a great start! I like the eyes.

Nice work Oky. It would be really awesome to see one of these in chrome, although it'd have to be custom made. And the scale does feel slightly off, but that's not too big of a deal for me. I like the compact feel of the pistols.

When Technic and Pirates meet

Sure thing Admiral! This is a lovely ship and I love the way you modded it. Consider it [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp] -
The deadlines been strectched to May 21st actually so you'd still be able to enter. And it is a lovely scene! So many wonderful vessels have been built lately.

Is that why they do that? That would make sense I guess. ...Or maybe he was just really hopeful that someone would buy them.

These are neat! My favorite one is Jack's boat, because he get's all that rum!

I would like to chime in with what some of the others said. Don't get your hopes up about a second wave. It seems pretty unlikely, although it would be awesome. And I want at least two boxes of the Zombie set.

Vote for your favourite Category A entries
Walter replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Oh gosh, there were so many great entries! It was a hard choice for me, but I finally decided on my three votes. 23) Mechanic Entry (Build by Darkblane) 1 point! 25) Alien Entry (Build by Dan Church) 1 point! 27) Flamenco Dancer Entry (Build by Skafte) 1 point! In terms of presentation, creativity, and overall quality these were my favorites. Best of luck to all! -
Epic! That's all I can really say.

I'd echo what some of the others said. But still, it's turning out to be a lovely little speeder! Keep at it, I want to see this upgraded to another version.

Yeah, that is a lovely texture! Impressive work AC.

I believe he said the tower technique was originally DC's, so that would make sense. I think Jim has a style that is slowly setting himself apart from others, which is a good thing.

Great find darkdragon! I really love the way he added so many details, yet balanced everything out so as not too make it look too messy! I really hope the builder joins, as he's got some mad skills. -
Thanks for the heads up! I fixed it and added a seperate link to Jim's photostream too. No problem! Welcome aboard.

Thanks Big Cam! I tried some low light stuff but it didn't turn out too great. I want to experiment with some more techniques though, so I may try it again.

Jabba's favourite decoration (a scene from RotJ)
Walter replied to Legostein's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I love the way you make these scenes. While I think actual Star Wars pieces look better (Duh!), the whole challenge and enjoyment of these scenes is that you do them without officially licensed parts. -
Nice design work! I really enjoy your interpretation of Obi Wan’s Ship.

I appreciate all your comments. Thanks everybody! I finally got around to posting a video too. I had some minor delays with that. Sadly there's no interior, as I needed to use a good deal of space to support the top of the lighthouse and gearbox within the structure that allows me to turn the light. The light enclosure is made using small trans clear plates. I also used headlight bricks to add plates and trans clear cheese slopes inbetween certain sections. It took me some time to come up with the technique, but I'm glad I did.

I'm with you on this one. I love all the minifigures, but I hate how they don't mix well. Still, both themes have good qualities and as Pirate fans we've gotten a lot of new pieces from them. I don't think we ever would've gotten those new bottle pieces if it weren't for PoTC. I also have to add that what I love most about being a builder is that sometimes I CAN combine both these themes into a lovely creation. With all the variety, it is possible. Imagination allows it.
