@ Dr. Nightmare, Thanks! I may change the legs for more articulation (And stability) But one of my main goals was to use those wizard's staffs as legs becuase they have such a great organic look to them. Of course the coloration is another limitation. I may have to special order click hinges in green. @ shadows. Hmm, I can't watch the video on Internet explorer, but I can on firefox. If anyone else sees this I'd recomend listening to the video.

Breed your own giant mantises in 29 easy steps! This folder is private for now, but I wanted to post it as soon as possible, and I didn't see a reason to make such a picture heavy post for something most people wouldn't want. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=511708 Anyway, the only unusual parts are the eyes. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?P=298c03&colorID=3 Which are control lever bases. And the legs which are wizard's staffs from brickforge http://www.brickforge.com/store/product.php?productid=16482&cat=314&page=2

We couldn't decide who the most beautiful angel was so we decided to enter them as a team. On the left we have Faith weilding her seraphic axe. Faith recovered this axe from a woodcutter falsely accused of murder. She refused to use any other weapon until the true murderer was caught. Eventually the axe was imbued with her holy power and now, she calls it "Justice." In the center is Charity with the Twin holy swords Courage and Fortitude. Both used to be swords weilded by paladins who bequeathed them to Chairty upon their deaths in the cause of goodness. Finally we have Hope on the left with the Hammer of Smiting. According to Hope, her hammer's true power is not as a weapon, but as a focus for healing the worthy.

My battle pack would include Octopus (5) Monkey (3) Capybara (3) Parrot (1) Parrot Brace (1) Seagull (1) Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind if the seagull was brick built, like the one in the creator lighthouse set http://shop.lego.com...use-Island-5770 So many cool ideas. I'll have to submit another idea next week! I am an adult, and I live in wisconsin (USA) -

Was I the only one mentally adding the "Wrah wrah wrah wrah" sound effect from the 80s cartoon? Excellent job there. Hasbro could learn from you.

@Gabe: Thanks for your complements and suggestions. I agree, the base needed work. I didn't really have time to break apart other creations to build this one, and as it was I ran out of time for the elemental challenge. I am planiing on continuing work on the house portion, to make it look more like a secluded druid's house and less like a ren-fair. @ soccerkid6: Hey, a couple days after reading your comment, I came accros this: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/1377 The resemblence is uncanny!

I'm not sure, but your creation would have outdone mine so....I guess I'm not regreting running out of time. I'm moving soon, so I'll have to see if another creation is in the works or not. It also helps if I get inspired, and for whatever reason I just wasn't inspired by the elemental challenge. -
Whoops! http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=72589 I don't know how that happened.

I love everything about this. It reminds me of the Inn of the Last home from the dragonlance novels. Can we possibly see a better picture of that green creature?

Those Collumns are a work of genius. I just wish they came in white. Angeli, I am a little suprised to find that you haven't read the RA Salvatore books. Your creations emulate menzoberanzan so well, I thought you must have. Anyway, I'd recomend them, with the possible exception of the cleric's quintet. I'd also recomend "Goblin Gate" and "Goblin Wood" by Hilari Bell, and the Spiderwick Chronicles by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black for good nocturnus feeling books. My recomendations are also good for younger readers as well. -
Hmm, I see your point. The basic shape does look like a submarine. It would look good for steampunk or deiselpunk creation.

Hey there. I recently made a large demon for a Historica Challenge, and I came up with a usefull way to make my large scale figure hold a weapon. I think this would be the best place to share how I did it. Here is his right hand. Notice how the thumb is connected to one of these. http://peeron.com/inv/parts/3839a Here is the sword. Notice that I put one of these, http://peeron.com/inv/parts/4085a in the hilt. By attaching the two pieces, the demon can hold the sword without using his fingers. Have you seen my beach ball? It's about this big. I may have left it over there. Or Perhaps over there. Eveybody Sing! YMCA!

Thanks guys! The tree cottage is still a work in progress. Here are some pictures to show what I'm doing. As you can see, I've built it to come appart in sections. I plan on Furnishing it (!!??!!) with some simple furniture. Fortunately as a druid Belladonna spends a lot of time outdoors and only needs the cottage to sleep, keep herbs dry and cook when it's rainy/snowy. Yeah, it would probably look a little more realistic with brown/tan instead of brown/yellow, but I have a much better variety of yellow than tan pieces. Especially arches.

....and so they kept on. At time the tunnels became so tight that the Fomorians had to remove their armor before they crawled through the cracks in stone, and the pallets had to be dragged through. The Jaeger scouts proved adept at sniffing out unusual odors, which usually meant unusual dangers in the underdark. Mr. Cinder could indentify most of them usually animals, fungi or noxious gasses, but on more than one occasion they turned back simply because he felt uneasy. Now as the main party approached the scouts, they wondered what new obstacle they had found. Quivver, the troll archer and Mr. Tarnish the dwarf approached the trio. "Ve Foun' Nuttin'" insisted the Jaeger in the top hat. "Well, that's a relief." acknowledged Mr. Tarnish, his usually grim face brightening. "Nonono, we didn't find whatsh dere." "Yes, that's good. No danger!" "Oh no, deresh shtil shtuff, but ve didn't find it." "How can you find what's not there? You fellas worry too much. We must have scared off everything." "Danger shtil dere, an' bigger too. Ve know, 'case ve not find anyting." "So, because you didn't find anything, you know that something is there." Mr. Tarnish closed his eyes and rubbed his red nose in frustration. "Yes Shir!" Quivver circled back to the caravan and called out. "Mr. Tacomancer sir! I think we need you as a translator!" The ragged mage started ambling over the rock path torward them. "Shir, we not find leetle shtuf 'cause da big shtuf ate it all. Ve're not even finding batsh anymore." Mr. Tarnish paused and tried to translate this insult to logic and pronunciation. "Something is eating the bats." "Yup yup!" "And you're scared of it." "Vell, it could be bad." "But only if you're a bat!" The tacomancer finally intruded. "Something's eating the bats? That's bad." "Finally! Dis guy gets it!" "Why, what's eating the bats?" The Jaeger leaned forward connivingly, slowly the mage, dwarf and archer all did the same. "Shpiders." He whispered. "Spiders! You guys are worked up over a couple of bugs!" "Actually, bugs are a type of insect," interrupted Quivver, "Spiders are arachnids." "And tomatoes are fruit not vegtables and I'm not scared of either of them! Lets go!" "Calm down Mr. Tarnish," Hushed The wizard, "We're sort of looking for the spiders, or rather their masters, remember?" The six looked around. Quivver broke the silence. "They're here aren't they?" "Oh, yes, they've been following us for quite some time. Come on out why don't you! We come as friends and have gifts! Do you have cake and ice cream?" Silence was the only responce. "Hmf, Unwrap Invisibility!" The other five drew closer together as spiderwebs the size of blankets appeared on the walls and they could see the skull sized spiders infested in some of them. Glittering eyes seemed to say, "Even though you didn't see us, we've been watching you." Quivver looked around nervously. "But shouldn't the masters have appeared too?" "That would be the polite thing to do, yes. But if you are refering to the spell, well, they were invisible and hiding as well." "Why would they hide if they're already invisible?" "In case someone disrupted it." Quivver paused again. He tried not to pay attention to the Tacomacers bizarre words most of the time. But this seemed to be one of the times he couldn't. "What are the odds of that happening?" "Apparently pretty good." the wizard chuckled, "Get it? Apparently?" "How droll, look, I'll handle this, My grandfather buttled for the drow." Quivver faced outward and took three steps away from the group, cupped his hand to his mouth and called out, "Look! We come in peace, we wanted to thank you for your warning, and brought gifts, so if the sixteen of you would just stop stalking us and come out to talk, we'd really appreciate it." For a moment all was still except for the spiderwebs waving in the breeze, then eight tall gracefull figures unfolded from various hiding spaces. Six of them sped towards, and past the party, leaving two. One was female, slightly taller than her compaion, and her onyx skin contrasted with her lustrous hair and burnished armor. A whip in her left hand uncoiled into rolling tentacles. To her right was a sinewy male. His head was helmeted in the same bright metal as his companion, but only half of his lean body was protected in red leather armor. Allthoug he had a sword, the miniature crossbow in his right hand drew attention more. "Help sunwalkers?" The woman asked, "We've done no such thing." "Sure you have. I know were are not as .....ah, observant as you drow, but we realized that the aggresive stance of the underdark lords must have a deeper meaning. We mobilized our militia, as did numerous people in all four lands. And that really helped when the elemental fiends attacked. Why if it wasn't for your....unusuall warning, we would have been caught flat footed!" The drow exchanged glances and narrowed their eyes. "Yes, has eveyone come to realize that this was our plan all along?" "Well, not everyoen appreciated the subtlety of your plan, but we do and...." Another of the dark elves trotted back. "No sign of another drow part mistress." The Preistess looked back at the troll. "You said there were sixteen, we are only eight." "Did I?" "Yes, we were concerned that your party had accidentally led a rival clutch here. Explain." "Well it must be a simple mistake." "Must it?" "Why yes, obviously I either misread the signs left by your scouts adn overestimated your numbers, or I'm simply a stupid troll who can't count. The alternative would mean that I bluffed a Mistress of LLoth, and that would simple be impossible." Quivver grinned a tusky smile. "Of course, so tell me sunwalkers, what tokens did you bring us?" "Ah," Quivver waved the fomorians forward. "The citizens of Scarborough have sent their finest liquors, kippered Mire Crows and exquisitelly carved cases. We are olso interested in trading crossbows and declairing Menzoberranzan and Scarbourough to be sister cities. "I see. I can certainly accept the first three. But I think I must consult with my grandmother about the last two. Here are pics of the drow and their weapons, as well as the crossbow scarbourough would like to trade with the Drow

Rebekah Led her Goats Prim' and Clover deeper and deeper into the Annual Faire. Allthough she had been here before with her family, they had never delved deeper than the craftsmen and farmer's stalls at the edge. Now, as an apprentice druid she could travel deeper to the Faire's original purpose. Here, rare herbs, plants and spell components were the products for trade. The closer she got to the center, the rarer the items. Suddenly she saw it. A house, small by most standards, but still impresive for other reasons. For one thing, this was the center of the Faire' Belladonna's Cottage. This was the home of the most powerfull druid of the region and also where the rarest, most valuable items would be found. And if that was not enough. She knew that druids like Belladonna and her Tutor only took from nature what was offered. How Nature must value Belladonna if it offered a mighty tree like this to her! First she passed a Man trading for Magically straightened and strengthened wood. Cheerfully she passed a bundle of willow-wort over and received a fine staff in exchange. "Great for Shilleighlieghs." The Man mentioned while packing his herbs away. Next she passed an unknown creature in front of a table of fruits. Rebekah didn't know what the fruits were for but she gave the creature some willow-wort anyway. After all, since this creature had a head, it must get headaches. The next stall had a man selling basswood saplings. But the one after that was the one that impressed Rebekah the most. It had rare mushrooms, not just rare, but potentially life saving yellow cones. Eagerly, Rebekah approached the black and white awning with a bundle in her hand. The crowd of familiar and strange faded into the background. If she had one of these mushrooms she could prevent disaster if something went wrong with an expectant mother in the village, whether it was a Prize sheep or a sister or wife. This was worth the trip alone. The stall owner looked disdainfully at the herbs in her hand and shook his head. "Pshaw! willow-wort? What do I want with willow-wort?" "Well,...it's good for headaches and..." "That's not what I meant! I meant it's not exactly hard to get, is it? Not like these yellow cones. I expect one of my 'shrooms is worth, oh....25 of your bundles there." "Twenty five! I don't have that many!" "Tell you what then, throw in the goats and I'll let you have one." Rebekah was crushed. She wanted to help her village so much, but weren't Prim' and Clover part of her village as well. She was still thinking this when a troll druid walked around the edge of the stall. "Leifsen! What kind of trade is that?" "Ah, Belladonna," The man replied "I was just... "Treating Nature's Blessings like copper pieces? You know the ways here." "But surely some herbs are more valuable that others!" "No, none of us know the future. You may need a cure for a headache, she may need a cure for Birth sickness. Both needs are bossible, so both nature's blessings have equal value here." "Hah! If a man has a headache and a sick wife, but can only cure one of them, I know which he will choose." Belladonna let one eye roll over and stare at the man. "Perhaps you will need a cure for headaches sooner than you think." Leifsen took a step back but said nothing. Belladonna cleared her throat. "Perhaps the old ways are old. Would you accept two for one? Do you both find that acceptable?" With a smug look on his face Leifsen nodded. Rebekah also nodded, doing everything she could not to gush thanks, which might ruin the delicate negotiation in front of her. Belladonna took the bindle from her hands and quickly swept two of the yellow cones from the table and gave them to her. "Hey! That's not what I...." Belladonna swung to face him. The blessing's are not yours. They are nature's"

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
Jareth replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This series seems OK, And less Likelly to bankrupt me. The obvious armybuilder, the Conquistador, doesn't really appeal to me. I'll get a couple of them, A couple of Fairies, divers and bats. One questions I have is, are any of these figures preludes to future themes? I suppose that the pirate and Conquistador (as well as the Aztek) could signal a return to Pirates & Islanders. The "Buisnessman" and Diver could also be potential Stampunk fuel. But that seems unlikelly. Anyone else have ideas? -
I bought this set. I didn't examine the Microfigs that much, but I will do so. How about the new rules? The Prince's Power is to defeat an adjacent enemy and then move two spaces. The Sage's Special power is to pick up an item that is up to 4 spaces away. The new potion prevents damage for one turn. The Bat has hit Points! My only problem with it was that during the "Test Drive" All the heroes had distance attacks by the time the bat was around and then just stood back and took pot shots at it. Admitedly, I didn't do a thurough reading of the rules, so I may have missed something.
