  1. I Finished building for Chapter 3 of the third challenge, but I don't have time to post it today. Probably not tomorrow either. Thursday, almost definetelly yes. Anyway, here's a sneak peak enjoy!
  2. This is an all over win! Criticisms? No way Great parts use, great minifigure, great greebling, great mini-vehicle
  3. That is a smaugworthy dragon. Pay no attention to that avalonian Ka-neg-it Your skills are welcome in nocturnia
  4. Very Nice! I really like the barracade!
  5. Sorry...It's been broken down. To be honest, the top of the tree wasn't that great. I don't own enough branch pieces. Allthough, maybe I could do a brick based crown instead of a branch based one.....hmmm....
  6. Thanks for the inspiration! Heres a link to my jungle plants http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=495683 and to other trees http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=501650 I may add instructions at some point And a very large tree trunk. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=5380650
  7. Thanks Guys! @Natesroom: A tree guide is a great idea! I've been toying with the idea of making some instructions. Perhaps I'll work on that after the third challenge is over. In the meantime, I did find that this part http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3741 is a whole lot easier to use to make angled branches than this part http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=298c02 The hinge part is hard to remove from the arches I usually use for trees without stressing the part. @ I Scream Clone & Soccerkid6: Yeah, My last MOC had solid walls in the back. It was a tradeoff choice between a white background and natural sunlight. I am going to try taping a white posterboard to a chair and see if that works. Gah! So many ideas so little time.
  8. Your parchment backgrounds are better than my parking lot backgrounds. Speaking of which, I finally posted chapter II of challenge III http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=68632
  9. Here is a link to "the Prelude" the first part of my story. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=68208 The water upstream of the Ebon Wall was calm on this cold windless day, and the clear surface reflected the arches of the black elms that touched above the waters. Once this river teamed with salmon smelt, and chorus frogs added their voices to this cathdral of nature. Now Mire Crows lurked beneath the surface and ate anything that swam, while other predators hid along the banks. Today, only a lone lasher hid silently by the Compass plants near the banks. Soon the slience was broken by voices, and a pair of rowboats paddled into view like two lost ducks. "Look, all I'm saying is that you shouldn't call me 'Thief'" Said the first voice. "But you are a theif, you have to be a thief, we have a fighter, a wizard, a druid who counts as a cleric so the fourth must be a rogue and you don't have a musical insturment so you aren't a bard. Besides, those side classes are rare is small parties and we already have a druid so..." Replied the second. "So, I have to be a thief because none of you are? Or is it becuase something got stolen and it must have been a troll who stole it?" "No, not at all, nothing got stolen. That's not what makes you a thief." "Right, I didn't steal anything so I'm not a thief." "No, you have the skills of a theif, so you are a thief." "But I didn't steal anything." "Right." "So I'm not a thief." "No you are a thief whether you steal or not." "But that doesn't make sense! How can I be a thief without stealing?" "Well, I'm not casting any spells right now, but I'm still a wizard. Besides who else goes adventuring in leather armor?" "I don't know. Someone who can't afford chain mail?" Finally Belladonna could take no more. She turned from her Figurehead like pose of vigilence and hissed "Quiet you jaybirds, danger is near!" Almost as if this was the signal the black lasher lumbered upright like living ink and coiled it's striking tentacles like vipers. Mr. Tarnish reached for his pickaxe, but The Tacomancer was quicker pointing his staff and declaired a cryptic word. "QUESO!" Waxen Strands shot out from the staff engulfing the beast. It soon was enmeshed in the web, and a smell similar to spoiled milk filled the air. The trees, once silent were now abuzz with various bird calls and the rustling of small animals fleeing the area. The water rippled with the sudden movements of the boats and a lone tentacle flopping in the water. Gradually both grew still, but not nearly as peacefull as before. The four heroes continued rowing ountill they could no longer be seen. Finally even the waves stopped splashing, leaving only one sound. The creak-crack of the Mire-crows. They always seemed to know when dead or helpless meat lay nearby. If someone was still there, they would have seen one of the rarest sights in northern Nocturnus. A Lasher....afraid. Here is a good overall view. And I thought it would be a shame not to have some closeups of the trees. Here is a link to part 3 Here are the links to parts 2 and 3 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=68984
  10. OOH! I was thinking of naming my triceratops a cerrunos, after the pagan horned lord of the forest. Since I'm using this fella http://peeron.com/inv/sets/6722-1 perhaps they are two species, or have different names due to different languages.
  11. Whew! More time. That's good, I was thinking of cutting a chapter, now I might add a chapter! Thanks for the extension!
  12. My nocturnus creations need some more plants. I plan on a couple of outdoor scenes. TREES!
  13. Man that's looking good! Those serpent creatures are fantastic. Thanks for the detailed shot of the floor. I had a thought while reviewing your buildings. The arches with 1x1 round plates attached to the bottoms, could make great tentacles for something. Anyway, keep up the great work and keep experimenting with lighting both are going great.
  14. "RARGRH! Hogs-eye hate wind! Stoopid Quivver! Hogs-eye tell you to give wind resistant Spear!" "Sorry sir sorry, but...you don't have a wind resis..." "Quiet! Hogs-eye destroy target old fashioned way." "By Stomping!"
  15. Here's my most recent cup. I was pressed for time so I didn't stack them in. 446 Green Plant stems 98 Clear 1x1 slopes (haven't seen these at a PAB wall before) 81 Green 1x4 tile 70 Green 1x2 slope 52 Green 1x2 brick 67 Stone 1x2 profile brick And to put in the top stud 8 Dark stone 2x2 Brick 2 tan 1x4 plate 2 clear 1x2 plate
  16. Oi! Hogs-Eye not snore! Hogs-Eye provide "white Noise" to help you rest!
  17. OMG, I want a welder to be in the next CMF series so bad now.
  18. Hey there, On a recent trip to Puerto Rico, I visited castle Morro. I thought that these pics of a real castle might help inspire castle builders. Yeah, I know it's more of a "Pirate" castle than a Knights castle, but it can be both, right? Besides, a lot of Real Medieval castles are in poor shape, while this one was used up to world war II and then kept in fairly good restoration. Anyway, here we go. BTW, I left the traffic cone in for size comparison. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=500828 I also hope people can post their own inspiration pictures. Show us your local castles!
  19. Its fun to put the "alien pet" on a friends minifig
  20. Thank you! Yeah, I guess I could link the two stories together. and you can tell I used the same MOC, but the people are different and I made modifications to the Tavern as well. I think they would clash next to each other and just rely on people's imagination to fill in the bar fight. It is a nice chair, but I got the design from brickshelf. I think this was the page I looked at. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1775882
  21. Nice job! The Minifigs are great and have a lot of personality. Where is chapter I?
  22. Hail Nocturnus. I have posted the prelude to my challenge III entry. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=68208 Enjoy!
  23. Here is the first posting of my round III challenge. There will be other postings as I complete them. Hail Nocturnus! It had been an uncommonly warm clear spring day in the town of scarbourough, the type of day that promises storms soon and as day faded into night even the crickets seemed too slothfull to chirp. The farmers and drilling mercenaries came in from the fields and the night time businesses opened. In the old quarter most noise seemed to be coming from an inn known to the locals as "the Refuge" or "The Refuse" depending on the age of the local. But most locals were staying clear of that tavern tonight due to the Troop of Jaegermonsters celebrating. Only the reluctant barmaid, tavern owner and a few locals who had agreed to meet before finding the jaegermonsters were there. A few new faces could be seen however. People who didn't know or didn't care about the jaeger's reputation. First was a surly elf, who didn't seem to know where else to go. Then others filtered in. In strode a man of indeterminate age. His clothing and staff were strewn with debris, but the pointed hat declared his profession so that even those who didn't know the Tacomancer knew he was a wizard, and despite his foolish grin, no one trifled with him. Some doubted is magic, but he had done good deeds for most of the townsfolk, so like helpful child, he was protected. Next came Belladonna the troll druid. She rarelly came into town, and was usually in a fowl mood when she did. Then Mr. Tarnish stomped in. His clan, the rustnoses, was not well liked around town, but no tavern owner kicked a rustnose out. Finally a troll in neat, almost embroidered leather armor entered. Unlike the others he was not know around town. Not even by Belladonna. Also unlike the others, he didn't draw attention to themselves. Tarnish stomped, Belladonna Loomed, the tacomancer arrived with a smile on his face, a joke in his eyes and a rattle of spell components in his suit. The newcomer was so "ordinary" that all eyes met the door as he entered. It seems that if you are a troll, you will draw attention as either a Thug or as a Curiosity. The four gradually drew together at a table. After a few awkward, tense moments Tarnish cleared his throat. "All right then. Lord Ssilrrshli....Shylyrth...Ssilyrrlith want every city, town and port to do their part to find this fire thingie, and The rustnoses sent me to help. I assume you all are here to do the same." "Yes I am." Said the Leather clad troll "Allow me to introduce myself. I am quiver, most recently a spear caddy with a Master Crossbowman, but now I am off to make my own name." He hesitated. "Does this place look a like a bar in Mpya Stedor? I seem to be having the strangest feeling of Deja Vu." "Well Met Quiver, I am Belladonna. I give guidance to the trolls around here. Do you Plan on joining our clan?" "I haven't decided yet madam, But I assure you that if I do, you will be the first to know." "Hmph," Grunted the Druid, "Knowing is why I am here. In order to fully repair my triskadekalith, I need that stone." The three turned to the mage, who seemed distracted by his drink. Eventually their questioning glances got his attention. "Oh, excuse me. I am the Tacomancer high mugwump of the mystic arts blah, blah, blah. It's great to meet you all, and now that we've met in a bar, I'm sure we can all trust each other with our lives." Quiver was the first to reply. "Um...excuse me?" "Oh, this is great tradition and all. We've got a fighter, a cleric a thief and a mage. Of course we're going on a quest. It's part of the idiom." "Idiom?" Replied Tarnish. "Yeah, like the way we're going to work like a well oiled Barrel golem even though we've just met." "I am....glad you forsee good tidings for us..." responded Belladonna "I hope..." "Sorry, " Interrupted the Tacomancer again, "Your hope for getting out of here without a fight is misplaced. See meeting in a bar is traditional for a reason. It makes it seem like we have something in common, perhaps even a backstory, thus unifying the party." "Why does that mean we have to fight?" asked a bewildered Quiver. "Oh, that doesn't Doesn't mean we have to fight. But it's also traditional to have a bar fight to make sure we all know the combat system." After another long pause, there was the creak of leather gauntlets. Tarnish asked "You think I don't know how to fight?" "Not me, the GM thinks so." "Who's the GM! I'll show him I know how to fight!" Tarnish punctuated his challenge by throwing his mug at the Jaegers. Silence broke over the bar. One by one the Jaegers underneath the elk trophy grinned tusk filled smiles." (Fill in the bar fight scene as you like, Hopefully part 2 will be up next week.) 24. Nicelly done! The orc for is great! It keeps the theme of the "troll mountain fortress" without being based on it, and I really love the forestmans hideout. Updating old designs is Cool. Ahh! Giant Cat! Keep it away from my cavys!
  25. I think this technique would look great by attaching multiple telescopes to the leaf in a way that makes the trunk branch out. Plus that would allow you to use the natural flexibilty of the branch pieces to make the tree bend in an organic way. Thank for sharing!....of course now I need to bricklink about 25 telescopes.
