Heartlake Heartbreak - Day Three: Don't Ask Me Why
Tamamono replied to Darkdragon's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Why are you so concerned with looking town? A townie's biggest concern is finding scum - not looking town and surviving. If you can't towntell, then you're lynched, but it's for the best for the town. I know you're new, but when the amount of players left is so large that scum can't possibly win with a mislynch, you use the mislynch without caution. Sure, lynching a townie is bad, but the kind of town you're going to lynching would be detrimental to our efforts to scumhunt if left alive. It's all about seeing the big picture - you sacrifice the minority to pave the way for the townie majority. Ok, that makes a little more sense now. I understand why you didn't want to vote Walter, and that's fine since you're new to the stables, but in the future, that's when you lynch somebody. Yeah, I think I have to agree with this. I've been thinking a lot about the daykiller, and I'm thinking he/she is the SK, tbh. SK's are always really underpowered, so gods always like to give them extra little powers to level the field. For example, in this one made-for-TV Godfather-ripoff, there was a poisoner who couldn't be killed at night, and also had a weak tracker action or something like that. An untouchable daykill would function as something like this, tbh. I think that's it, honestly. I'd agree with Cece normally, but even Daisy is still under suspicion, so they wouldn't want to convert her. -

No surprise about Walter, but it's interesting that there was no scum kill again... Jailkeeper get lucky again? Or was it something else? Do the scum even have the ability to kill? I'd think so, but I seem to remember a comic book I once read in which once the scum killer was lynched, their team no longer had the ability to kill. Could it be that Walter was the killer and they can't kill now? And it's a shame Jane flipped town, but it's one less lurker to worry about, at least. -

I still don't get why my vote hasn't gone through. Maybe if I Vote: Walter (Waterbrick Down) again? Hmm, that is interesting. As Fred said, the scum had no reason not to believe it, so that means that those who were reluctant to claim/didn't claim are likely to be scum. Whoever made the chart does make a good point that some people weren't around earlier, but I think Katie especially deserves a suspicious eye - she only claimed once the lie detector was proven fake. Daisy's erratic claiming yesterday does send up some red flags, actually, although I'd think claiming to be "totally scum" falls under things scum wouldn't want to claim. Maybe she's a serial killer...? As for Billie, her claim seems fine; although it wasn't "I'm innocent", it still obviously had that intention, and you know how Billie is. -

In my experience, it's never a good sign when people ask to be investigated. -

Didn't I already say this? This has been addressed already. Occam's Razor states that the most likely circumstance is the true one - the daykiller is most likely aligned with us. -

If you thought he slipped and revealed something about the day killer, why did you out it to everyone? The townie thing to do in that situation would have been to not make a big deal out of it and to allow the day killer to stay hidden as long as possible. -

These situations are an informed minority against an uninformed majority, but an uniformed majority can become a very informed majority very quickly, so there are usually town handicaps such as Jailkeepers and Millers around (let's just hope there isn't a Miller this situation ). I've found that handicapping the town usually does more for balance than handicapping the scum. If Walter flips town, then whoever the protector protected will be looked at with more trust, and the jailkeeper possibly with a bit of suspicion. I don't see why Katie would be wary of lynching town if she was scum. If a conviction is reached on Walter and he flips town, there's only a 1/12 (or likely more) that she'll be called out for voting him, but that chance increases if she votes him today after defending him for the bad flipflop. Get what I'm saying? I'm not trying to rush things, just trying to make sure town stays on-track with this lynch instead of squandering their votes needlessly on other suspects. I fully support the idea of keeping the Day open to continue talking, etc. (and for people to get their lunches in too, that's a big one), I just want to make sure nearly confirmed scum dies today. -

Votes for Walter: 7 Votes for Other: 4 We have 22 people left, so we need at least 12 votes for a conviction. Luckily, it isn't as bad as I had thought, but it could still be a problem. Everyone, if you support Walter's lynch but feel like voting someone else, please check who has voted so far and vote Walter if a conviction has not yet been reached against him. We can not afford to split the vote when there's confirmed scum. -

Uh? Jailkeeper is a town role, Daisy. It belonged to a scum in a book about a dysfunctional Japanese family, but it's generally a town role given to overpowered towns to handicap them slightly from what I've seen. This Jailkeeper, from Oscar's description, either knows he's a Jailkeeper or has the ability to not use the blocker side of his Jailkeeper abilities, however. Anyhoo, I digress. I have to agree that Katie is likely scum, but if she is, she's scum with Walter. She even said in her post that she realized why Walter was being voted, yet still made up a hairbrained theory about the daykiller being scum. It looked to me like she was trying to play the noob card there for a minute, but after going over her post several times, I noticed that she's basically saying, "Yeah, so I don't get why Walter is being lynched. He got blocked and must be the scum killer right? Oh, well, the daykiller must be scum because Walter's innocent." Which is a blatant defense of practically confirmed scum. Also, I urge everyone to not split the vote too much. While separate votes are good for reads later on, too many and we could end up with a No-Lynch today with almost confirmed scum. That would really suck, like, a lot. I'm going to count the votes really quick to make sure we have enough for a majority (including current nonvoters), but please, think about the lynch before throwing out a vote 'to make a point'. -

Alright, that makes sense. Either way, a block is a block, and since there was no scum kill, Walter's still our lynch. Plus, the possibility of us having another protector in addition to the jailkeeper is fairly low, so that seals it for me with Walter. I think Fuzzie Bear or Fozzie Bear or something bear verified Oscar last night, from the looks of what might soon be a play. http://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=Jailkeeper Um? There is zero reason to not lynch Walter today. He was blocked while there was no scum kill, and even if it was a protection/conversion, we can't let someone who was blocked on a no-kill night go running around. As for the daykill being the scumkill, that's almost impossible. They had no reason to kill Zara yesterday - they would have been more likely to kill Oscar/Fred yesterday than quiet old Zara. Plus, it would be strategically unfair for the scum to kill during the day, their kills wouldn't be affected by blocks/protections/tracks/watches/etc. (unless day actions are a thing now ), making it possible for them to choose whoever they wanted to kill each day. AND, even if the scum, through some incredible plot twist, are the day killers, then that still means that Walter has a kill action and used it last night. If he was the vig, Oscar wouldn't be letting us lynch him now, so if your theory is right, Walter is the serial killer and works at night, so there's no reason not to lynch him today. What's wrong, scummo? Afraid to vote for your partner? While a crazy gambit would be possible a ways down the road, Night 1 is never the right time to gambit with something like that. -

Vote: Walter (WBD) As I said before, there is no reason to compromise on this vote. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go eat some sugar cubes groom Danny. -

Awesome, it appears the day killer is on our side. It's really a shame that we don't get to see Jane's affiliation until tomorrow, but our lynch today is already determined, so it's just the waiting game at this point. -

I have to agree here. Sara/Jane are both great daykills (Wild Dragon too, but I don't know if we want him dead just yet - he can be a great asset when town), and if the daykiller is town, it's in his/her best interests to eliminate our highest suspects quickly, no matter their affiliation - just to clear the field of distractions. And while I don't know why Jimmy would say he was sure of Jane's affiliation if Trish flipped town, but I would say the way she voted for her definitely puts her under scrutiny today, whatever that's worth. Didn't you just say in big bold letters that it was the vig? Or were you being sarcastic? -

Ok, here I am, I've had my fill of sugar cubes and I'm ready to talk. I think it's likely a ploy - no offense, Oscar, but Mike had no reason to send you his lunch, and a man of his experience (he doesn't even care when women cry! ) should know not to trust penny-munching hedgehogs without good reason first. Awesome, we've got scum pinned just like a strong, muscular horse like Danny pins down his prey before... Ahem. But yeah, this is a great turn of events, especially after mislynching crazy Trish yesterday. I'm not compromising on my vote today, nor should anyone else - even if it was a successful protection instead of a successful block, we need to get rid of Walter today, especially as long as we still have some mislynches left. As long as we know he was blocked on the night there was no scum kill, we'll never be able to trust him, and he'll just get in the way. We've got those scum piggies on the run. Oink oink! Honestly, the evidence points toward it being a serial killer (there are few people here who would daykill blindly as town) and Oscar has a history of assuming things. Why do you automatically write it off as a vig? Are you the real serial killer and you know there can't be more than one? -

Good lord, you people talk a lot. I only have time to respond to a little before I head out to groom Danny and steal his sugarcubes, but I'll do what I can. Didn't I already say all this? That's weird - that's what my lunch is, doughnuts. You know, I think I'm noticing a trend here - ice cream sandwich, cookies, doughnuts... All the flavor cop actions seem to be sweets. I guess that's why they call them flavor cops. *rimshot* Hence why I said vigilante; a more experienced vig would know to hold his fire Day 1. After all, Zara could have been something important. Alright, I'll be back later with some new points, etc. -

No? Sure, I think it's clear that Trisha's investigation lunch appears more than once in the rotation (Oscar said so himself, even), but generally these things are always random. What are you suggesting? -

I suppose this is possible as well, although lunch seems to be a not-so-useful little add-on to the situation from what we've seen so far; wouldn't a lunch-stealing-lunch be a bit overpowered? If you steal a townie's lunch, you can just let them know and pretty much clear them, but if you steal a scummo's lunch, it'll likely be obvious (unless some scum have lunches that look semi-town). -

Actually, it occurs to me that either Penny or Jimmy (probably Penny, if I'm correct) could be the lunch thief/some other scum claiming to have had their lunch stolen to gain town cred. I remember an egyptian story in which two scum claimed to be blocked in a night and a crazy scorpion ball making cook thought it was a triple block. The question is, would scum be so bold? It's a risky move, but it could have a good payoff - I can't imagine there being any reason for town to be able to steal lunch. -

Tamamono replied to Darkdragon's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I think it means she suspected me. A hooker in a great cop novel I read used to call herself Darth Potato, and she was scum, so I think that's what Trish was referring to. Honestly, the scum have no reason to knock off someone like Zara, who would likely have had a mislynch wasted on her had she not been killed. A more discreet kill is always in favor of the serial killer - we don't know if there are more day actions out there, and neither does the serial killer (unless this situation is different in that aspect too), so it's in his/her best interests to kill those who won't be touched by any actions An inexperienced vigilante is possible too. I'd expect a dayvig to go for a quiet target too, especially on the first day. I have to agree here - the less info we share, the less info gets leaked to the scum. All PRs should stay hidden until they uncover something good/have someone CLEAR to claim to. Although Jane's not said much and, I admit, is pretty scummy, I find her almost impossible to read; she's always like this. And I don't think Oscar was trying to put words in your mouth nor incriminate you for anything. Why are you getting so defensive all of a sudden? Yeah, this kitchen thievery certainly sounds a bit fishy. That's actually a good point; in a situation like this, the scum would probably have a lunch thief. But Penny claims to have had her lunch stolen as well. Could there be multiple lunch thiefs? Maybe an independent lunch thief whose goal is to eat so much he throws up? -

What the hell was Trisha thinking, acting like that as town? If she wasn't telling some idiotic lie to get out of being lynched, then we just lost a semi-useful role/lunch, although we've rid ourselves of someone who would be near-impossible to read on lylo/mylo. I don't think Zara's alignment is a real surprise, though. The odds of scum being daykilled were pretty low, and it's even lower for them to be godkilled. Nice to see there were no nightkills, however. The only problem is whether it was caused by a protection, a block, or if, god forbid, a conversion went on. However, the lack of any nightkills at all leads me to believe that the serial killer is a day killer (I can't really see a situation this size without at least two killing roles); either that or both killers were simultaneously blocked/their targets proteted.
