~~~ August 23rd, 2005 New Brickland, Florida Mid-afternoon The friends and family of the Malone family gather atop the Great Brickland Pizzeria - a favorite of the Malones since its opening in 1954. Unfortunately, it's not the quiet get-together that Tam Malone had hoped for... Adelaide Malone and her sister in law, Kristina, attempt to rescue Adelaide's pet monkey, "Baby" from the ivy on the side of the pizzeria while Pablo, her little chihuahua, lets out one high pitched bark after the next. "Baby, get down from there - you can't climb! And where did your diaper go??" Adelaide demands. "You're going to get applesauce everywhere!!" "Wait, what!?" Kristina exclaims, jumping back. Donny Dragonov, once again interested in hearing stories (with specific details, of course) about the Malone family's various endeavors, asks Terrence if he'd seen any interesting evidence about the Malones during their many cases in court. Terrence, in turn, confides in Donny about the family's large reliance on the hedgehog-painting business. Thoroughly pleased that he finally got a cream pie, Rolfe flaunts his success to "The Great Byron". Rising, the family's patriarch speaks: "Attention! May I have your attention, please!" The crowd hushes. "Eh-ehm." Tam clears his throat. "Welcome, friends and family. I'm very pleased to see you all here today. I certainly hope you're enjoying the refreshments!" "As you know, this family is built on loyalty. Loyalty is what holds us together, what binds us. Without loyalty, we all fall apart, and into the hands of the law." "When my grandfather, Gregory L. Malone, established our... business... here in New Brickland, he knew that he could not guarantee the loyalty of some men. Although it displeased him, he accepted this as a universal truth. Not wanting to lose his family to dishonorable men, my grandfather set in place some... methods... of discouraging disloyalty. I'd like to remind everyone here today that we of the Malone family do still have these methods in place." "That will be all. Enjoy the luncheon, my friends." As Tam returned to his seat, Bernard sighed deeply and turned to his son. "Is everything... alright, son?" "Yes, dad." Tam answers calmly. "In fact, things are fantastic. We're going to have some serious changes around here..." The Family Tam Malone - The Malone's Godfather; husband of Adelaide, brother of Kristina and Colin. - NPC Bernard W. The Day threads basically make it so there's always somewhere for the players to talk. Similar to def's night threads, except I hope mine get more traffic. Shhh! Don't let them know that!
August 20th, 2005 New Brickland, Florida 1 A.M. As the wee hours of August 20th sneak by slowly, Tam Malone and three well-dressed men leave the Malone Hotel and Casino (Tam's family's "business"). "Thank you, gentlemen; we of the Malone family appreciate your business very much." Tam says as he addresses the men. "Trust me when I say that your money has been invested well." "No, thank you, Mr. Malone." the investor in the blue suit says as the group files into the convertible. "You've not only given me and my associates a most pleasurable night, but you've given us an exciting financial opportunity. I look forward to our next meeting!" Suddenly, the group hears the loud roar of a car barreling down the road. "Who on earth could that be at this hour!?" Tam exclaims in paranoid wonder. VRO~OOOOM goes a hearse-like vehicle as it comes racing down the boulevard. SCRE~EEEEE! The car makes a sharp turn when it gets to the boardwalk, almost flipping over on its side in the process. Ratatatatata!!! As the car turns its right flank to face the group, a dark figure in the back pokes a gun out the window. With a firm squeeze of the trigger, it releases a stream of bullets right at the men. The shots plow right through the investors, sending blood squirting everywhere. Tam dives behind the convertible, ducking for cover. Satisfied with its dirty deed, the hearse-like vehicle drives off into the distance, the dark figure cackling like a witch. Tam Malone sits up slowly, the bodies of his former associates scattered around him. "Damn those Ferraris... damn them to hell..." ~~~ Tamamono proudly presents: Mafia After Dark - An EB Mafia Experiment. This game is going to be different from the "standard" Eurobricks mafia game in several ways. I can think of no better way to explain the change than by posting the rules here: (New elements are bolded and underlined) 1. Pshh, who says I didn't have the town convinced?? I'd just prefer it if you'd turn off your psychic powers when I'm scum.
While a series of classics (Johnny Thunder, Classic Spaceman, Captain Redbeard, Pizza Chef, King Leonidas, etc.) would be cool, especially with the printed cracks on the spaceman like just2good said, I doubt it. However, like Itaria quotes: "Additionally, the company’s line of collectible LEGO Minifigures will receive its first Hollywood makeover with a series inspired by “THE LEGO MOVIE” cast of 16 new and “new-again” LEGO characters." It won't be a series of only new figs (background or non-appearing characters labeled LEGO MOVIE EXCLUSIVE to sell more packs/justify a price jack), nor will it be a series of only classics. My guess is that it will be a mashup of several minor/arguably background figures from the movie. Maybe Emmet forms some sort of league to fight whoever the hell he's fighting, and 16 or more of them weren't deemed important enough to be put into the main sets. Maybe the old guy tells of "long lost LEGO heroes", and those will be the characters. We don't know. Any conjectures made at this point are very likely incorrect (mine included). Once more is known about the movie, we'll be able to start making better guesses as to what kinds of figures we're going to see here. Unfortunately, there's one thing I feel we can be fairly sure about. For those of you begging for main characters, you won't be getting them. New molds/prints/hairpieces will be necessary for all of the characters, making them just as exclusive as CMFs. However, as we know from SDCC, these figures will make appearances in the main sets. A significant percentage of the FOL(AFOLs, TFOLs, and CFOLs alike) population is heavily influenced by the minifigs in a set - they're more likely to buy LEGO sets if they have the 'figs they want in them. I know for a fact I am definitely not going to get the set we've seen so far; I don't like the vehicles. However, if I can find the scene girl and Emmet in a smaller set, I'd be perfectly happy to buy that primarily to get them. (Now, most of us on EB are aware of Bricklink, so I doubt many of us will do this - I'd much rather BL the figures than pay through the nose to get them retail). However, if LEGO makes characters such as these that will be so "in-demand" (both by people who want the new parts and people who want the figures simply because they liked the movie) available so easily for 3-4 USD, it will cut sales of the bigger sets. Wouldn't you rather buy a cheap CMF of Emmet than a full set for him (this is assuming the set isn't going to be favorable).
Thanks for a great game, Trumpet! I loved playing as Paris, even for such a short time. Your photography was great, the characters were original, the scenes were humorous, and the concept of alter egos (while not original) was a great one. I hope we'll be seeing CMF Mafia 2. And congrats to the townteam! You guys did a really good job of coming together as a team, even without someone like Hinck or def demanding night action claims on the first day. Awesome play from all of you. Even those outside the town block (especially PsyKater and Captain Nemo). You guys cooperated and answered suspicions with a super townie level-head, making the block's work that much easier. The town could have easily lynched you guys, but you made it impossible for them to do so. Great job. Don't be afraid to kill people you accuse (as scum). People only look at that for vigilantes. And 'gut', my megablocks! He slipped in the thread by letting on that he knew that CMFs had actions!! I can't believe you didn't kill him. It's totally fine, though. You did a really good job of looking town in the threads, and were only lynched because Waterbrick found Nemo scummier at first (thus leading to the argument where he towntold). If we'd killed some PRs or infiltrated the block somehow, there would have likely been less clears, which would have given you more time. I'd apologize, but I'm not sorry. All I can say is that Purpearl should be protected on Night 1 from now on, at least when I'm playing.
*falsetto* Well, it's time for me to go, dahlings. I thank you for your time and attention, and apologize to those who I've offended. Tip #29: Don't make enemies. I am fairly confident that Abraham and Rocky are both scum. Please lynch them both in the coming days. I vouch for Alicia and her investigator - nobody would pull this stunt so early. Unless her investigator is Abraham or Rocky. In that case, string him up by his toes. A-ight, 'gals, time for me to g-o out the d-o~!
-
I consider actually doing anything helpful. Abraham's posts have had no substance whatsoever. Even Amanda remedied that.
-
Nah, I've been suspicious of you all day (and part of yesterday a bit too). Plus, it's not grasping at straws if you actually accuse scum. It's not Laurence's suspicions. Laurence also suspected me, and I'm town. I've been suspicious of both Rocky and Abraham all day, as I said before. Out of the two of them, Abraham has done less to help, so he has the highest likelihood of being scum. Definitely nab Rocky too, though.
-
I know. I'd do the same if I were in your position. I should stop criticizing you guys. Have fun, kill scum, and win it in my honor, everybody.
-
First of all, Benvolio, thank you for approaching my situation rationally and thinking for yourself. This kind of play is the kind that will win the game for town. And no, your meta on me is flawed, I'm afraid. I go down kicking and screaming as either affiliation. I thought what we had was special...
-
I don't get why everyone says my posts are fluffy. If there was no result on me, you wouldn't be saying that. And yeah, I realize that since I have no evidence that I'm really the tracker, it's hard to believe. megabluck getting blocked. Scum don't usually block the loud ones. It's the quiet ones you have to watch out for... I figured they'd take the same mentality as you and Juliet and write me off as vanilla. As for dying, I figured that the louder I was, the more likely I was to be protected. Scum would probably target me, yes, but I'd be protected and waste their kill. It's not pissed off townie, it's pissed off Tammo, and it's the only scummy thing I've done so far. I daresay you see pissed off Tammo more than anything else. So you're saying it wasn't safe to assume I was going to get lynched immediately? In Yakuza I was lynched without an investigation result, and took long to claim, and they lynched their megablocking tracker. I never said she was town. megabluck off. I said I was unsure about her before. If you'd actually megablocking read my post for content instead of just reading it with the attitude of "Hahahaha look at him flail I love to see people get mad" you'd see that Carlisa literally pulled out "genuine suspicions" of me out of nowhere when she didn't suspect me before. This one takes the cake. So I'm scum because I'm a human being with emotions? I'm not allowed to get mad that, when I actually give the game my all (which I haven't since, maybe last year?) and try to catch scum for you people, all I get is suspicion and ungratefulness. These responses are unbecoming of Tybalt. He's usually a really sharp fellow, not someone who would call a guy scum just for being human... Scum or dumb...?
-
Why is it too convenient? You said it yourself, I'm not "exactly townie". Yet I also can't have been targeted by actions (which target people who aren't "townie"). Which is it?
-
If you're willing to ignore behaviors just for a flimsy investigator, you've already lost. In any case, I realize that it won't mean anything, but I should walk away and save myself my sanity now - there's no way I walk out of this alive. You've all doomed me to an early death by ignoring the most important part of mafia. Whatever. I'm voting for who I'm most sure is scum. Vote: Abraham (Fred Daniel Yam) If anyone would like to use their brains and play optimally, please join me in voting for him.
-
That's because you weren't reading them correctly. Behaviors can't be flawed, but the way you read them can be. It's important to learn to fully read any behavior, even without pressure. Scum know they're scum, and will subconsciously scumtell. You just have to know what to look for. Have I scumtold, Melanie? Outside of being investigated as scum, which is a flawed method of discerning one's allegiance?
-
Hinck/def aren't playing. Someone has to step up to the plate. Plus, being super townie is good WIFOM - I thought scum wouldn't block me. You can think whatever the megabluck you want. There's a framer, and it framed me. Unless LegoDad is scum and decided he was pissed off enough at me to fake an investigation on day megablocking two. Remember Aperture? That was a mafia school, and there was a framer. So basically, in short, megabluck off - I'm town. Hahaahhahahah yeah, I should claim my role in the thread as soon as I'm accused. Ace strategy, sport. I wasn't sure if I was going to be lynched before - PRs should only publicly claim when they're being lynched. You can take your vote and shove it up your megablocks. I'm town. I bet you're scum too, just salivating thinking of being able to lynch me so early. That was only with Romeo because he apparently thinks we're playing Romeo vs. Paris, Big Fight Night! instead of Mafia. Yeah, I was flailing, ace assessment, bud. Where was this assessment of my behavior before the phony results?? Hm?? Just going to jump on the Pariswagon now that there's support for it? Actually, judging by how literally nobody knows how to read me, it might have been town blocking me. I was just informed that I was blocked, not of who did it. I'm just assuming that it was scum, because I'd like to believe that people in town have at least a little common sense. Maybe you'd find that I actually said things if you'd read the goddamn thread for once in your life. I don't see how my play has been anything but enthusiastic and "substantial". I've been trying to lynch scum since my first post on the first day. There are few others who have contributed as much thought to this game as I have. If she's scum, she's literally asking to be killed later on. I don't see how she could be sure that there would be no cop counterclaim, unless a cop was dumb enough to claim to her and she killed him. That's unlikely, though. I really think it's framing, although Alicia could still be scum, just going along with the investigator's wishes to get another townie lynched. Yeah, and you'll all be losing your tracker. God, I'm so megablocking mad. Literally Yakuza all over again. No, they are not. Frames were a one shot deal the first time you were scum, but that's because the framer was mixed in with a bunch of other shit. Framer is usually an every night role. And why wouldn't it target me? There was no obvious investigation target. I was as good as anyone. They obviously see me as a threat, but see enough support in-thread for my possible lynch to go for it by first killing Laurence and then framing me. I really wish you people could learn to trust behaviors over results. Results can be messed with and proven wrong. Behaviors can't. Come on, Melanie, you're smart enough to not fall for scum's trap here! :skeptic: I'm the poor misunderstood hero of the story, just like this guy: This... is my design.
