1. Hi everyone ! Fasten your seat belts, because today I’m reaching the top speed of 420 km/h with this replica of the Bugatti Chiron 1:8 scale ! Around 4,000 parts, a weight of 3,7 Kg it takes me 2 years of study and design to achieved it. First of all, the pictures renders are slightly different than the video content. I made some modifications (for the roof...) The french manufacturer mixed-up performances and sophisticated design for an unique masterpiece with only few units sold for. The real challenge grabbed my attention so I decided to design it. For more informations about the car, please visit : The road map includes parameters following : 1:8 scale (using of 42056 tires) PFS features (powered by one Buwizz ®) 7 speeds Dual-Clutch Gearbox (DSG) Full 4WD transmission A good approximation of the bodywork Active spoiler feature A high rigid chassis Modular assembly This MOC includes a lot of characteristics as well basics manual ones that more complex ones. But first, here are some pictures below : Main features : Dimensions : 56 x 24 x 16 cm Weight : 3,7 Kg Power supply : 1 Buwizz with easy access Motorisation : 5 mottons Independent suspensions Manual ones : Openable doors with locking system, and openable hood by friction Steering HOG Unplugable motorisation (RC motors and steering ) for playability because the car is very heavy ! Openable trunk providing self-invented W16 engine details and Buwizz access Openable gloves box… …hidding a secret key witch unlock nice PFS features ! (insipired by the real top speed key) After a long build process, I’m very proud of the result. During development, I decided to put an additional feature to improve playability : a small lever to unplug motorisation. Indeed, the car is very heavy so you can’t move it easily. From wheels to the drive train and the 2 RC motors, the high gear reduction lock any movement. The secret key system create some kind of manual interaction allowing selection between 2 motorised features powered by one M motor : Spoiler extension (3 handling modes reachable) Adjustable suspension in height I’ve made a small video to illustrate spoiler mechanism : I found inspiration on Pipasseyoyo Bugatti Veyron system for height setting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaX5JLdBcyg. Irreversibility is performed by 4 worms screw, one for each axle. http://www.techlug.fr/Forum/topic10504.html I assume all similarity with @Didumos69 anti-roll bar and torsion bars system on the front axle. His advanced setup is very strong and reliable. https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/143038-moc-rugged-supercar-hammerhead-19-scale/ Remote ones : 5 motors : 2x RC motors / 2x M motors / 1x XL motor 7 speeds Dual-Clutch Gearbox (DSG) driven by XL motor Spoiler animate by 1 M motor and its own gearbox Suspension height controlled by the same M motor Steering by 1 motor or the HOG Full 4WD transmission driven by 2 RC motors Gearbox ratios : 1st : 1:9 2nd : 1:6 3rd : 1:5,4 4th : 1:4,5 5th : 1:3 6th : 1:2 7th : 1:1,8 R : 1:9 Gearbox inspiration : @Sheepo Rubicon Jeep shifting system :http://www.sheepo.es/2016/06/jeep-wrangler-rubicon-instructions.html @ibessonov gearbox : https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-5565/ibessonov/sequential-rc-4-speed-dual-clutch-gearbox-with-pf-servo-motor/#comments Other pictures : Hell yeah Enjoy pictures in HQ : https://flic.kr/s/aHsm9s9M7C And here is the video : I hope you'll like it ! I'm making instruction video for the DSG gearbox, see you soon !
2. Almost finished. I'm making last shots and editing video :) Coming soon !
3. I'm proud of my last version of the DCT (dual clutch) gearbox with 7 speeds. PFS and manual version. I will publish more information soon, make a new video and instructions. Designer : Levihathan Motorized by 2 RC motors and 1 XL for the shifter. Manual version switchable Sequential Dual Clutch, speeds sequence, AWD or FWD/RWD, differential bridge inside 7 speeds and Reverse Highly inspired by Sheepo's gearboxes. I learned a lot with frenches designers like NLF77 or Durian. This is a working version, compact and very reliable. Stay tune, I'm on the way to make a new video :) This is two to see the previous version in action, and a quick video to watch main features on this version. New one : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWTlnuMJZl0 Previous one : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRqLCK8UyzA Thanks :)
4. Hi guys, I just want to show you some improvements added one the Moc and show my progress :) The front is over. I finished the roof. I'm preparing BL orders to complete it. The mayor difficulty is to find empty place to put elements like motors,... I'm scarred of the position of the batteries box now. I really want to add a switch to power the car manually but I don't know if I will have enough free place... What I've done : Motorized direction + Switch (final version) Transfert gearbox between functions gearbox and transmission Openable doors Design of the Hog Sports seats Let's pictures talk :) Instructions for the gearbox took me a lot of time and it's not finished yet. And if I spend my time to make the instructions, I can't moc. And today, I prefer build my car :) I hope you will understand. See you next time !
5. You're right ! I confounded 160mm and 106mm... Shame on me ^^ Finally there is no mistake, the scale is correct on the paper and on the MOc ! I was lack of coffee last night I think... Thank you brunojj !
6. Thanks for your support :) Sadly, I've made a scale mistake on my front end. I read 106 cm long instead of 116cm... So, it's to short. I've re-ajust length with 6 more centimeters. On the picture you can see on the middle the added frame in lbg. It's a good new for me 'cause I can set more more mechanism inside, but I have to modify the front end design a little bit...
7. He, nice tips ! Some improvement on the Bugatti Chiron : What I've done : Motororized direction. I set a small motor on left front end. I added a direction a compact clutch system to switch between hog and pfs motor (quite difficult) I don't if I will set led in the future. I'm working on the flex style/position around front wheels. I hope you'll like like ! Stay tuned !
8. Great memory ! Indeed I used 2 RC motors to powered my first version of my gearbox. But now if you want a display version of the gearbox to appreciate each speed and mechanism, you can put 2 RC motors. I've found Sheepo Porsche 911 topic recently and he said that the last speeds on his PDK gearbox can not be use even powered by 2 RC motors. I don't know if I'm clear but I really wanted to have a working gearbox (with cool mechanism, etc...) able to move my supercar. That's why I've anticipate a display RC version :) Anyway, may I'll try to add some modifications to give me the chance to set RC motors into my Moc. You said it, two RC motors will help me a lot to fit the spoiler/airbreak system... I like manual supercars too, like Pissayoyo one : http://www.techlug.fr/Forum/topic10504.html So I decided to create a global clutch to disconnect pfs motors from the transmission. Yes I use model scaler like Sariel's one. I use calculator to transform real dimensions into Lego one. After that, I notice all calculate dimensions on each view on my computer. Do you proceed differently ? Heeeeel yeah ! That why I began the bodywork now. I don't set all functions I want today, But have a nice design is very important for me. I bought some dark blue pieces to see. I really appreciate your work, you and Madoca are my mayor sources of inspiration for design ;)
9. I'm waiting BL order because I'm out of Blue panels now ^^ I'm going to build sport seats now. Yep ! Short video : https://www.flickr.com/photos/147164115@N07/shares/h1j44r Thanks for your messages :)
10. I found a compromise into the geometry to reduce friction because there is lot of pieces in movement. But the cinematic is very cool. @Saberwing40k I will add yellow bushes. It could but more apparent. The gearbox is not too high but when you add the W16 on it, I'm 2cm to high... I didn't find a issue for that. Maybe re-design the fake motor, I don't know... Ahahaha !!! I love working on my Mad catz mousepad ! However I don't play video games... I guess it's a cat was murdered on the pad, but I'm not sure ^^
11. Hell yeah ! 16 moving pistons precisely ! I created a W16 engine without meta pieces. The result is compact and realist Thank you and yes, indeed...
12. I everyone, I start a WIP topic to show you frequently my progress on the Bugatti Chiron. Here we are. I wanted to create a new supercar (or megacar) before I finished my dual clutch gearbox. I love Bugatti brand and the new Chiron is so beautiful so I decided to create and design this car in Lego. I don't have finished instructions of the gearbox because it's very long :( All the features attended : A 7 speeds + reverse sequential dual clutch gearbox ( You can't see it on the picture because I'm working on the instruction) It's placed under the w16 engine Variable hight suspension on the front and on the rear Working pfs direction 4x4 transmission Working spoiler A manual gearbox to select between two rc functions (move the spoiler or move the suspensions) A global clutch to disconnect the car from the 4 L motors pfs. Typically ti will be possible two switch between a manual and a RC mode A hog for the manual mode Manual doors and roof I will add the real specifications soon. So, what I've already done now: The new dual clutch gearbox Rear axle Front axle Under chassis A mini functions gearbox 2 speeds W16 realistic motor The global clutch transmission I decided to begin the global design of the car because it the most difficult to create IMO just after the working transmission :) When I will be satisfied by the design, I will add the missing features and add others maybe. I think It's the best way to build a supercar. If the design is bad, even you have the best mechanic created, nobody care. I choose blue obviously ;) I've already ordered a lot of blue pieces on BL. Stay tune and do not hesitate to comment ;)
13. I think it's possible if use it in manual version. The gearbox length alone (without 4 L motors) is 14 studs. This gearbox is not designed for 1:10 super cars, but you can try :) That's it ! That was a rewarding experience. I didn't re-invented the system but I my opinion, I made my own :) Thank all of you for the support !
14. Hi everyone ! I worked a lot and a long time to finally have a working dual clutch gearbox easy to build. My goals : Easy to build Shifting up and down reliable and efficient Real speeds ratio sequence Working in a moc or for display :) Last but the least, compact. In pictures, the last version : The lbg mass with the servo motor is the gearbox system, and in black you have the rear axle. They are so close to reduce length. To compare dimensions, there some other pictures : Here, you can compare the 42056 gearbox size on the right. The two axle are on the same axe. The idea is the the following : I really want to implement this dual clutch gearbox into the Porsche. I don't have think about a manual version of the gearbox, but I think it's possible. With a different paddle shifting anyway... :) The gearbox is separated into three parts : The rear axle in the background, the gearbox with the dual clutch on the left and the speeds shifting on the right. The dual clutch shifter is not present on this picture. I consider that it takes part of the gearbox system but you must assemble it at the end. I've already worked on the chassis for my MOC : I think I've a "compromise". The gearbox is powered by 4 L motors. 2 by input shaft. For the speeds R - 1 - 2 - 3 and sometimes 4, it is very difficult to see the difference. Even I can assure you my theorical gears ration it perfect :) For the last speeds, the difference is more important and you can appreciate up and down speeds. To have a functional prototype ( you can see it on the video ) I preferred to set up 4 L motors. But If you just want a display system to appreciate the mechanism you can replace L motors by two RC motors. It's planned. Finally, on the video i show you all the speeds in action and the last shifting speeds system : I'm working on instructions now. It will be a Kevin Moo instructions like. I prefer photo sequence. This is Levihathan and I'll see you next time !
15. Yes, indeed. But, if you really want put an input on the front, it's possible. Just add minors modifications. I put motors at the rear to improve space in the front. Because it is not possible to place the gear box in the middle of the rear axle. The gearbox is too large. That's why I put the motors in the back. If you want powered the gearbox by Xl motors, you'll have to increase speed before connect it to the input. That is my advice :)
16. I don't use sheep's bugatti shifter, neither Shelby's shifter. I've reproduce the Porsche Pdk shifter to shift up down speeds. On my gearbox, I've really optimized it to make it more reliable and more smaller. The second shifter for the dual clutch is a French one. The designer is Steph77. I've improve it to be torque resistant. This shitter is 100% reliable. Update : I ve finished the first shifter to make it 100% reliable. It's done ! I'll publish more information soon :) So, that is one of the skills on the gearbox. You can have a RWD, AWD or FWD because the yellow axle connector is the.... output ! I explain myself : On this picture, on the left you have two yellow axles connectors, right ? They are the two inputs. One for each RC motor. The power is distributed on the two mini gearboxes and you finally have two inputs. One directly on the differential (on the left) and one at the front (on the right). So you can do whatever transmission you want. If you have any questions, please ask me :)
17. No I don't talking about that kind jerky. I'm talking about my non linearity of my movement. When you start the motor you have a little gap of time before engage the movement like you say. But you only have this problem at the beginning. One of the advantages of the dual clutch is a shifting very smooth. I'm talking about a displacement on the floor in the same direction not linear, with some jerk. It's very visible when the speed is low. Today I can't explain that. I really have to make a video to explain that.
18. I'm on it ! I'm building a little chassis to test the gearbox on the road. It'is sooooo fun !! I put Two bb on it for simulate a charge. There is no friction on gear whatever the speed. I saw some grinding when you walk against a wall but that is normal :) The seventh speed is very powerful. However, the movement is not very linear, it is jerky. I don't know why. When I remove the wheels, the problem disappear. My future Moc will be a 4x4 transmission so this is not a problem for me today. I will post a video soon because it 's amazing to see the gearbox move alone on the floor !
19. Thank for your returns :) You think this topic is dead, come on see it on Techlug... ^^ The question of reliability is a hard one. Into the box, there are two critical mechanisms : The dual clutch and the speeds shifter. The dual clutch is 100% reliable. No fails during my trials. However, the shifter is not 100% efficient. There are some fails between the reverse and and the speed one. I really have to find an issue to that. So I could say for the shifter, 90% reliable. This a part of the Bugatti Veyron gearbox. But, the Porsche gt rs is coming, so I'll replace the original 4 speeds + 4 reverse by my dual clutch sequential gearbox. Today, a lot of sport car have a gearbox like this one. So I really want to build an universal chassis to build all super cars I want :) I started instruction on LDD but it is very long and I don't want to spend my time on it. So I will make certainly photo sequence like you say when I'll correct all my currents problems on the gearbox. I really want to share this model but I want to share something easy to build without settings and illegals builds. If you have questions, do not hesitate to ask me :)
20. Hi everyone ! Here my progress on my gearbox. I've just finished a new version, more reliable and more compact. I think it's could be a good idea to poll up this topic because the TLC Porsche is coming and maybe some people wanted to put a real dual clutch gearbox into the car ^^ instead of the 4R + 4D one... The new gearbox volume is optimized about 20%. It is very interessant into a moc to have a gearbox which spends less space. In addition, the rear differential is placed directly into the box to earn space. All the design is based on modularity. Each component (rear axle, dual clutch, ...) is design separately. The assembly is very fun like the old one. We have the same specifications that the old one. So, there is not a video. There is a servo for the two shifters and two RC motors for the transmission and a grand total of 8 speeds. The gearbox is very optimized for 1/9 scale and more for 1/8 scale. The box is also ready for 1/10 scale but if you want put this gearbox on it, you must certainly add some modifications. However, it's still possible, trust me. The new dimensions are in studs : - 16 x 16 x 9 (Lenght x width x hight) Let's go, photos : A comparison with the old one. She looks like smaller, isn't it ? If you have any questions or suggestions, it will be a pleasure to answer to it. I'll see you next time !
21. Thank you for all you support and for the video ahahah ! I really appreciate you messages :) In order to answer brunojj, BusterHaus is right. When one clutch is active, the other one is free-running. So to have one transmission shaft, you have to put one gear between the two outputs. That's one my last objectives to accomplish my gearbox. I've also put a functional reverse which working ! That's fantastic, isn't it ? To have one shaft transmission, I plug this system on the front of the gearbox : For the others, yes there will be some instructions ! But I have to designed it on ldd before ^^ Thanks a lot, This is Leviathan and I see you next time !
22. Thanks you Kamal. There is a great atmosphere in this forum. Thanks for the Mocs and see you soon :)
23. Hi everyone, I just want to share with you my last functional dual clutch gearbox. It's a very long project. I wanted my own gearbox for my future Moc. Today, the best gearboxes are, on my mind, Sheepo's gearboxes, those from Sariel and NK and from France there are Steph77 and Durian for the 4 speeds gearboxes. The box is modular. Achieved to be easily buildable. This is one of the stretch of the gearbox. There are the gearbox features : -Dimensions (L x W x h) : 18 x 18.5 x 8.5 cm -Dimensions (studs) : 24 x 24 x 10 -Weight (With motors) : 620g -Weight (Without moteurs) : 450g -Speeds order : R - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 With a speed of 1700tr/min ( powered by two RC motors), you have these speeds : R :100tr/min 1 :200tr/min 2 : 220tr/min 3 : 330tr/min 4 : 350tr/min 5 : 590tr/min 6 : 650tr/min 7 : 980tr/min The best thing is to show you all the features into a video : Curiously, I cannot post a video correctly. May I'm not a true member yet... The shifter is very reliable and efficient. (I do not know all the technicals english terms for my gearbox). Explanations of the mechanism : (sorry in forward for ma bad vocabulary, but I'm a student so "listen and study" are my religion ! Let's go : The video help a lot to complete my explanations. There was a little bit of reverse engineering to have a reliable shifter for all the speeds. The Sheepo's PDK gearbox helped me a lot... I prefer notice that to be clear. He doesn't give me informations. I've just used the pictures on the net. That's all :) There are two "little" gearboxes. One for even speeds + Reverse, and one for the odd speeds. A "skate" which move in translation (I'm searching a synonym of charriot in french) push each liftram as you can see on the picture. Indeed, with this system you have all yours speeds pushed sequentially. This the part of the PDK, thank Sheepo :) On the video there isn't a reverse. Today, I found an issue to that. Speaking about the dual clutch. I searched for a long time before finding a reliable and strong system. I'm very proud of the result. With one servo-motor, I control the speeds shifter and the shifter for the dual clutch. With this kind of clutch, I always have a speed activated. It's difficult to me to explain the working, but to have one clutch engaged and not the other, I use somme cams. The french PG52 helps me a lot to have a functional dual clutch. So, finally this is my project. Now, I have a functional gearbox and I can start my next supercar (or Hypercar...) Thank you to have read all of that. If you have some questions, it will be a pleasure to awnser you :) I think, it could more easier for me awnsering instead of introducing a complex topic This is Leviathan, and I see you next time !
24. Hi everyone ! My name name is... Nicolas and I'm live France, near to Rambouillet. So let me introduce myself. I'm 21 and I'm mechanical engineer in internship, like an apprentice you see ? I play Lego since huuuu 14 years I think. This is like you, my own passion with the piano :) I have done some MOC in Star Wars and Technic. I'll share to you some creations at the end of this post. I was an active member on Techlug, a french forum. But not anymore. On my mind, there is no enough activity currently on this forum. And I need advices to my current Moc. I've achieved my dual clutch sequential gearbox for my next hyper car. I'll present it to you soon. I hope learn and acquire knowledge from this forum. I've learned many things on Techlug. But, I'm still thinking that forum are good for me. I like keep contact and share contact. May I'll create my own web site like Sariel. So thank you to welcome me, I'm here to play Lego ! See you soon on my post about the sequential dual clutch gearbox with a video ! Nico
