  1. I'm sure I'm not the first to hear of this... but the next CMF series is TLM2 + Wizard of Oz.
  2. I am seriously impressed by the quality of all the larger TLM2 sets. Rex's explorer, pop up party bus and the systar starship are all great sets which I'll probably add to my collection. But this set takes it to a whole new level! I will definitely get this set, though I'll wait for it to go on sale or double VIP points, or both!
  3. Darth Vader's castle was my latest big buy. From Amazon for a 25% discount. But followed by 2 small buys (75195 and 75199, both discounted) as qualifying purchase for the black VIP minifig and display stand.
  4. Lego will honour their commitment to quality even if the set you bought is second hand, i.e. bought from someone who isn't a retailer. Like sets bought off eBay. I have contacted Lego about missing pieces for sets I bought from eBay, about pieces that broke when trying to uncouple them (like the wheel assembly in Technic sets), etc., and they have always sent a replacement without any quibbles. Lego customer service is quite high, and it's one of many reasons I buy their products.
  5. I had a similar experience... one of the retailers I got my sets from does a price match promise. I got both DO and BB at full price from them. Then the very next day, they dropped DO from 142 to 107 for black friday, but were immediately sold out. Yesterday I called them and asked if they could match their own sale price, and they refunded me £35 :) In the UK, both were sold out on the first day of the double VIP points weekend. None remained for the black friday weekend.
  6. So, after a lot of last minute panic, I ordered DO and BB with one online retailer, and though the order went through, discovered that they were "temporarily out of stock". I realised that this could mean they weren't going to get them back in stock and maybe not fulfil the order. So I repeated the purchase at another online retailer, who seemed to have both sets in stock. Unfortunately after the transaction, they emailed me saying that one of the sets was "temporarily out of stock". So I ordered the missing set from a third retailer. As luck would have it, all 3 retailers managed to fulfil the orders and I was able to cancel only one of the orders, which means I now have 2 copies of both sets. My question is - do I return the spare set of copies to one of the retailers, or do I sell them on to others?
  7. Yes, saw those on the S@H yesterday and already closed the gaps in my collection ?
  8. John Lewis are selling the Carousel (10257) for £124.99. Grab it while stocks last!!
  9. John Lewis are selling the Carousel (10257) for £124.99. Grab it while stocks last!!
  10. If like me, any of you were waiting for a big discount, John Lewis are selling 10257 (Carousel) for £124.99. I don't think this will be available at this price for very long.
  11. DO, BB and Tower Bridge all listed on S@H UK as retiring soon. Along with Ferris Wheel and Big Ben. Grab them soon guys!
  12. I look at it like - if I wait, I can potentially get a 25% reduction (including VIP points), but if i don’t, I get a 5% reduction (only VIP points). If I am prepared to sacrifice the 5% reduction (£7), I could pick up the set from John Lewis for retail price. And if the set isn’t reduced in Black Friday deals, it will probably stay in stock longer. But for peace of mind, you may choose to forsake the potential additional £28 saving and guarantee getting the set!
  13. I’m certainly waiting. There’s a chance for 20% off plus 5% VIP points. Plus Christmas freebie and Paypal £5 rebate Worst case I’ll get it from John Lewis or someplace like that.
  14. Thanks very much, Bricked1980!! I will definitely hold off for this set. Hopefully the brick bank will get a discount as well!!
  15. True. I would probably buy both... I think there's a place for both the cityscapes and the individual building lines. My motto is, if you don't have to choose between 2 and like both, get both. But like you said, it's just a personal preference. Not sure what you meant by your decision on what I buy or don't. Obviously it's a personal decision but thanks for your comment anyway.
  16. Wouldn't the Paris skyline version be much smaller? But then they may rerelease the Eiffel with an improved design in the future like they did the Burj Khalifa.
  17. Have Sydney and London. I'll pick up Eiffel and NYC next. Thanks for the tip!
  18. Oh... thanks for the news! Any word on when? SAH is still not showing them as retiring soon. Would you wait for black friday or snap up something just now? Please can you share the link?
  19. Love the details! If at all I can suggest one thing, it would be that for such a small scale, it may be better to reduce the enclosed offices contained in the building, and have more open plan arrangements like you have on the second floor, and keep the enclosed offices in the corners. This will open up the space a bit and make it look less busy. Overall spectacular effort!
  20. Are there any thoughts on which sets will retire soon? I'm just building up my collection and wondering which ones are likely to disappear soon!
  21. Is there any suggested reading or watching to get the gist of popular building techniques? I have a similar query, as so far I have only built sets following instructions. A good informative video would be so helpful, for system as well as technic MOCs.
  22. Just picked up TB for £150, BNISB, through a local FB listing. That one's now checked off my list, but on the flip side, the eBay seller for the PR hasn't yet posted the set, so might need to keep looking for that one :(
  23. I am so thankful for John Lewis! Early this year, I had a change of mind on the SHIELD Helicarrier, a long time after it was retired... and the reseller prices were already exorbitant. Luckily JL had still it in stock and I was able to get it at RRP :) The more I think about DO, the more I like it... it looks like a very fun and interesting set to build, display and play with. You should go with DO if you don't already have one, because any new set will eventually be available for a good discount over it's first year anyway.
  24. I checked the Lego UK website and DO hasn't yet been listed as retiring soon... just hard to find. I have decided to take a chance that the set price will drop on S@H or another retailer, before it retires. The additional 5% VIP points don't really amount to much. I may be able to save much more by waiting and potentially am no more than £7 worse off than if I bought the set today :) I got the Ferris Wheel last month at a Lego store to get my VIP points topped up enough to buy a Voltron outright. Now waiting for the carousel to drop to a sweet level!
  25. If the DO is showing as retiring soon in the Christmas catalog, does it mean it will be around until the end of the year? Should I grab it now on double VIP points? Or wait for a black Friday or Christmas sale?
