Brickmaster Magazine Changing in 2011
Shadows replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I actually renewed yesterday and learned that the program will continue for at least 6 more issues, so anyone renewing is safe. I was actually told that they aren't taking new subscriptions right now, so for the rest, you'll have to wait until the 2011 program is completely announced. I was told it was likely to start in the summer, but that didn't seem definite. Details are particularly unclear, so let's just wait and see before we decide if it's an improvement or not. -
Grand Vizier Shadir the One Eyed still hasn't gotten all of you cleaned out of his elephant's foot. Sure, you didn't oppose Shadows that time.

I'm interested! Experience? Er... I may have played one or two of these before. Credentials are available upon request.

Happy Birthday! Bricks. Cake. You know the routine. And remember: Anything invented before your fifteenth birthday is the order of nature. That's how it should be. Anything invented between your 15th and 35th birthday is new and exciting, and you might get a career there. Anything invented after that day, however, is against nature and should be prohibited. Hunh. I don't even remember doing this. Nice job, Zepher, and thanks to Sandy for taking the time to participate (and having the patience to wait for it to appear). I'm still waiting for the praise, though. Someone is so getting metagamed in the next one...

I poisoned you and when that was going too slow, it was my dementor that killed you. Now that would be a Sirius serious mistake, and I'll tell you why. If you're loyal and aren't sure if I am, killing me means you're statistically likely to be removing one of your own, and a powerful ally that you'll need later. Whoever makes that accusation, if wrong, is almost absolutely guaranteed to die next. On the other hand, if you're scum and know I'm loyal, killing me early actually reduces your options later because as long as I'm alive, I make a good diversion/misdirection that scum can use to hide. But basically, any game in which I die, my side loses. It's true!

Kitty! So cute. Windwaker Link isn't bad either.

Sir Dillion has been sent off to the front lines

Who? OH! Dickie! Thanks for all you've done, now get out there and take care of those pesky 'real-life' things that you kids are all interested in, then get back here before we forget you. -
I have now. I must admit, the medium blue hat made my heart skip a beat until I realised what you did.

First and foremost: Great hosting Sandy. From the plot and game mechanics to the sets and photography, it was amazing, and I've played one or two of these before. I still think the ghost investigator is an overpowered role since he's guaranteed to be innocent and people will naturally trust him. It's just a good thing he trusted me. It'll be interesting to see how you balanced out the night actions/items. I know from my limited experience with PoP mafia that any game that steps outside the traditional bounds automatically becomes much more complicated, but this ran so smoothly that it was impossible to spot any problems at all. Seriously, great job! It's true! I've said it before but never had the chance to actually do it. It's a fine tribute to my teammates, both those who survived and those who didn't, you all did a great job. But then you could have missed this lovely conclusion, full of death and lost love. Oh Miss Bathory, why couldn't you have said something sooner? Early on I knew your alignment and win conditions and almost recruited you directly. Matter of fact, if you check back in our running PM, you'll see where I refer to that as what I would normally do if I was scum and knew you were neutral. I was hinting. Imagine, I was being too subtle for once. Twice, actually. I won in Imperial Soldier's Mafia as a neutral, and I recruited the neutral in Prohibition Mafia (dannylonglegs) and he won with us. You could even argue that a neutral won Galactic Paranoia, really, though he was converted to it through a weird game device I created for the occasion. Neutrals are actually very powerful in some games. I should know, they've messed up my entire game more than once as well. I was expecting it in this case, but we squeaked by.

As I know I've said before, I just have a natural distrust of impartials, and unfortunately I may have allowed that to cloud my judgment, so I can see why you may have some doubts about me. I can tell you that I wouldn't be stupid enough to support the deaths of multiple allies. I can imagine trying that once, but continuing to let your own die would be insanity, and I have tried to be as supportive as possible in the successful kills (time has been a problem for me). Without venturing too far out of character, I can admit that the "survive" type of neutrality does exist, so I can't really argue that. As for the quoting, it's a generally accepted rule, but it's also just a bad idea as it can be easily abused and cause a lot of confusion. The last thing we need right now is confusion or we'll never manage to stop the scum. Fortunately, it didn't reveal anything harmful, so I'm not going to be overly annoyed by it. In this game of life we've had an innocent killer, a neutral killer, and a scum killer. Maybe two scum killers using different methods. We've had more investigators than I've ever heard of in my life. There seem to be all kinds of overlapping roles from different alignments. I'm not the least bit surprised to think that there could be an innocent thief (though I sincerely hope they take my advice regarding the use of the mirror). That's good thinking. Anyone able to clarify that? On the same note, what are the most likely remaining scum roles and how many people would it take to control all of them? If we can figure that out, maybe we can get a better grip on how close we are to winning or losing this situation and try to coordinate our current information to identify them. If, for example, someone knows they blocked someone else on the night of a killing, they can be sure it wasn't the killer. That sort of thing. I assume that even ghosts aren't all-powerful and that some things would work on them, but maybe she can clarify that herself, I'm not overly versed in such things.

Here it is again! We score a victory and then we take two losses. I told you people to try to work together to create the safest situation possible, and instead we end up with this! Dammit, no one listens, and we're running out of time. It's obvious that some people were mislead into doing the things they did last night, and I'd really like to know how, that would probably give us the answer to this whole terrible situation once and for all. Sounds like someone played your game (anyone recall that whole "someone is controlling my vote" nonsense?). I told someone (who will remain unnamed at this point in hopes that their cheating was an innocent mistake) that I was assigned the task of seeking out an impartial killer who used a dagger. The story was half true, with the method of killing being an intentional lie to protect myself. I had been told something that led me to believe that the person I was speaking to was capable of killing and I needed to try to determine their method to see if it aligned with what I was looking for, without arousing their suspicion. I thought they passed the test, especially when the real killer was identified by their death, but now it seems they have revealed themselves to be at least dishonest enough to directly quote private communications to another. I can't be sure if it was through malice or stupidity, but it certainly shakes my confidence in them. Given that you also cheated by repeating it here, I'm beginning to suspect what I did when it first came out that you are impartial: you need everyone dead to win. It's a common goal of impartial/neutral people, and you've certainly lead and mislead us enough to get some of each side killed, yet never enough to achieve a victory. I wish you could provide some kind of evidence to contradict that suspicion, it would make this entire situation a lot less tricky. The mirror is real, and either you or another thief took it. Since it will kill any scum who looks in it, I don't care who the thief is, they aren't scum. The important part, since you've chosen to reveal this information openly, is to make sure that the thief understands what they can do with that mirror. Give it to someone you suspect and if they are scum, they will die instantly, I guarantee it. If you give it to someone and they die, then are reported as innocent, kill me, but it won't happen, I have absolute faith in that mirror. I know that I am innocent, I also know of at least two others who are very likely to be, but I can't prove my own, or theirs, and honestly no one can in this game of life without resorting to quoting private communications and cheating. I do hope you aren't suggesting anyone do that, it's clearly happened enough already, and it's a dangerous ploy as it can easily be faked to indicate anything anyone wants it to through editing or quoting out of context. It's why there is a rule against it. Third possibility is that he had someone cast a spell to cause an incorrect result on your investigation, but needed it to happen on the same night for it to work (naturally). I don't know where I stand on Loki. At this point, I don't know where I stand on several of you. At least a few I trust aren't currently doing anything to make me doubt that trust. Evidence people, please. Innocent until proven guilty. Prove someone guilty, then we can vote and maybe bring this horror to an end. There can't be many scum left, we just need to get this right. If you have such evidence, we can probably figure out a way to protect you, so don't be afraid. Fear is what is getting us in so much trouble, and fear is what we must first overcome if we are to be victorious.

Damn fine job and Razor is looking as good as ever (seriously, did anyone ever play without picking her?). I really appreciate this type of custom work as it is instantly recognizable and meaningful. Simple as it would be, I've always meant to do a set of Kings Quest characters, for example, but never gotten around to it. It's great to see that someone has the determination to actually get something done so nicely.

It's a no brainer for me, we're on a good run here and there's no sense stopping this train of success now. Vote: Crudo Alakhazam/Big Cam With a name like Crud-oh, it has to be bad.

Clearly Jolie is getting the job done here, so I can see no reason to oppose her latest suggestion when the time comes. Aside from that, it sucks that we seem to get it right and still lose people every night. I don't know how long we can keep doing that before it's too late. I think we need to coordinate our night actions better to try to stop so many deaths in hopes of holding out long enough to stop these bastards before we're all dead. Any ideas on that?

... or send them promo sets, bricks, and rare parts.

Wow, every day is starting to take a new and interesting twist (and that last one was really fast). I'm only sad that I don't have more time to participate, but at least when I do get to look in, it's always entertaining.

I'm quite pleased to see that we're finally starting to make correct decisions. Let's continue that today. However, you're all giving me an even bigger headache than I already had from last night. Please discuss this situation amongst yourselves, weigh the available information and as with yesterday, I'll likely vote with the crowd, assuming you make some reasonable arguments. From what I've seen so far, we're a little weak on evidence but pretty heavy on circumstance and logical conclusions, so I think we have a good chance of scoring another victory today. I will say that my only nagging question for the day is why none of us died last night. I hope it means their killer is dead, but that's probably too much to hope for, so instead I ask that those of you who performed specific types of actions last night evaluate those actions to see if you can determine just who it is that was rendered ineffective, thus saving our lives. Then do it again or get us to vote them off today. Either way, if we can keep from dying at night and make logical votes during the day, we should be able to clean this mess up in no time. As for Aurors Potter and Weasley... screw you and the brooms you rode in on. Seriously. You haven't helped at all, you couldn't keep your own agents alive or catch anyone (and you couldn't even restrain Cuddles properly), and then you have the nerve to criticize and threaten us after we've had a successful day and night cycle. Absolutely ridiculous.

I realise now that I didn't actually explain why I believe Sheila to be bad, and that might prevent some of you from coming to the right decision, so I shall explain as much as I can. She's a werewolf. It's just that simple. My vision showed her ripping someone to pieces and I was told by another that they had found evidence of her lineage being prone to such a disorder. I initially tried to imagine that it didn't automatically make her guilty of anything since no one here had been killed in that manner, but I realise now that it means she's a danger we can't predict, and as such, she must be stopped before she does something terrible. I am struggling with the fact that she could be innocent, but why else would I have experienced that terrifying vision if it wasn't likely that she would kill someone? My vote from earlier still stands, even if I see the potential for it being wrong. I said I would follow the group today, and given my own suspicions anyway, it seems reasonable to continue on this path. I would still like to hear what Sheila has to say on the matter, but I don't think I'll be changing my vote.

I see how this is working, perhaps a bit too late to do anything about it, or perhaps not. Yes, I told Jolie that I had reason to suspect and expected evidence against you because of a vision I had and a discussion with someone I trust, but it never turned out to be as conclusive as I had hoped. As I think upon the words of the past few days, I have to admit that maybe I have been too distracted, but I'm not for this minute, and it's all becoming clear to me. Vote: Sheila Bones / Matn This had better be right or I'm losing my mind.

Another night of senseless tragedy. I'm sorry not to be participating more, but at this stage I am literally stumped. I am hearing claims and reports from several sides, reading what is said here and seeing some sense and some confusion, and it's leaving me uncertain what to believe. I hope that we can see some evidence revealed soon so that we can make a good decision today, we can't afford many more mistakes. I will probably trust the general consensus today as I have nothing personal to use for evidence. Please think clearly and logically and vote accordingly, taking all of the previous efforts into account. Somewhere we are being misled and it must stop now.

Sorry not to be adding much at the moment, but I'm in the middle of packing for a move and have discovered that what I thought was 15 or 20 boxes of LEGO is, um, a hell of a lot more.

Welcome to Eurobricks and the Ladies Group. I've taken a look at some of your work and it's very nice, I hope to see more in the future.

Like I said earlier, I didn't think there was enough evidence to make the vote, but given what you've said here, I can't hold that vote any longer. Vote: Bulltoad / Roncanator
