  1. There is tragedy enough without making assumptions. We do not know the fate of Professor Lastrada and must hope for the best. We must ... Yes, it is no longer the time for petty rivalries and competition. We must come together as one to show these Death's Hallowed that they will not be making any kind of return, except back into the fiery pits of hell. WE ARE! *slams a fist onto a nearby desk* I'll have you know, young lady, that this is not the time to be expecting others to do what you must do yourself. Each of us must work to stop this foul group before they enact any further damage upon this fine institution and it's students and faculty. This will not stand, and weakness will not be tolerated!
  2. This is an excellent idea and a situation that Draggy and I have been pondering for quite a while. The mystery format is difficult. On the one hand, it's very easy to turn it into a story where the players have little control and mostly go along for the ride. That tends to be somewhat unrewarding as a mystery and feels more like play acting. It's fun, but not really the intent. On the other hand, it's much harder to present a real life situation where people can do what they want without limitations. While that sounds ideal, it would be impossible to host and in most cases would result in players sitting around doing lots of things that aren't going to help them solve the mystery, destroying evidence, killing each other and generally not advancing the story. The trick is finding just the right mix. It's a situation that video game creators have been faced with for decades, starting with some of the earliest adventure games. There have always been limitations, places you can't go, things you can't do, mostly because the game didn't understand it. In a forum game, the host clearly understands what you want, but can't just let you do everything. In real life, you could push someone off a cliff, but there would be consequences. In a game, the host could allow it, but then how would they emulate reality, wait to see how the other players react? where do you draw the line? With all of that said, a mystery is the one kind of game experience I don't claim to understand how to host. I could create either the story or completely open kind easily, but neither would qualify as a proper mystery to me. The former would feel too controlled, like riding on rails, the other would be completely out of control and never end. I'm not sure it's really possible to create a perfectly balanced one, to be honest. I'll be interested to see what all of you think.
  3. Look at the dates. Those were from the previous time this was enabled and quickly turned off. ;)

  4. The aforementioned problems have now been corrected and this topic may continue on course. Note that I said "on course" and look at the expression I make as I say it. Behave, before Fangy's wraiths get you!
  5. These are great, very accurate and well crafted! I'd like to have a pair of those.
  6. This is for trading series one figures, which you clearly know, yet you posted anyway. Then you added to the mistake by trying to find some unrelated megablok part? Don't do it again.
  7. Updates may be slow for a while, our esteemed Games Moderator is currently tramping around the world and will only be able to check in periodically as he finds internet to steal use, so be patient.
  8. Professor Eloquence Malleus, at your service. Following in the proud tradition set forth by those who came before me, our esteemed Head Mistress McGonagall and before her, the late lamented Albus Dumbledore, I am pleased to be able to instruct you in the art of Transfigurations, one of the most important skills you will learn during your time here at Hogwarts. The most difficult aspect is applying the proper wisdom to transfigure yourselves from children into proper and respectable adults. I hope to be able to guide you in that direction.
  9. In "My Settings", under "Posting Settings", uncheck "Enable visual (RTE) editor?"
  10. Oh well, someone else will have to die on the first night.
  11. Ah, excellent, it's good to have tenure. I see... they're the ones to be worried about, are they? Stop slouching. *slaps a ruler across the desk*
  12. *SMACK* Go make your own and quit whining.
  13. Ah, the FBG is pleased to see a healthy mix of old favourites and new creations all in one display! We look forward to the individual topics. Maybe we'll finally get off our collective megablocks and index them, too.
  14. You have to do what makes you happy and screw the opinions of former GFs. Seriously, there's a reason she's 'former' and at that point her opinion stopped counting. You're lucky to be with someone who is supportive. Enjoy that opportunity to be yourself and do what you like. I don't really know what radio scanning is, but it sounds like something that you might be able to do while getting into Technic robotics. Maybe think of a creative way to mix the two. At the same time, maybe you could also find something that you would enjoy doing together and enhance your relationship. An "I need advice" thread that involves an AFOL and LEGO options. It's perfectly acceptable in this context. Every topic has a narrow and personal focus to some extent. There's nothing wrong with that, it's a good way to get to know another person. Lighten up a little.
  15. Seems Boney is looking a bit ... flushed. $100 lever puller. I like this job.
  16. Another day, another fantastic MOC with a story that is completely revealed through the pictures, no words needed. I should also add that this one is especially nice for another reason... rare white palm trunk sections. The beauty isn't just the rarity of the part, but how good it looks in use. Thanks for sharing another fine work with us!
  17. Naughty indeed. Welcome to Eurobricks and thanks for joining us, Aquolina! You've done a great job here, both with the construction and the story it so clearly tells without having to use a single word. Well done! Please consider introducing yourself in the "Hello, my name is..." forum so we can all get to know you a little better.
  18. *reads the topic* *takes one of blhc11's pills* This is a lot like the Slave Leia situation. Every little boy who grew up during that time remembers those scenes fondly. The difference here is that this is much creepier. MUCH. CREEPIER. *walks off*
  19. Yes, the taking of the information is the way to making of the intelligentificationalism. It is the goodness and always welcomed. Thank you for thanking us for the making of the furtherance of the intelligences. (Don't ask... No. One. Ask.)
  20. Grey. The other grey one won't appear often, but the white arrow will make it obvious. As Boney said, it's a quick and easy way to tell if you've participated in a particular topic. It's a really nice feature and would be harder to implement with heads. Only 3 of the old forums had them, SW, History and SciFi. The rest had the default boring set. Plus, they didn't mean anything obvious. Anakin, Qui-Gon, Lando? How do those relate to new, hot, poll, etc? They don't. At some point, we may aim for a more theme oriented solution, but for now it's good standard LEGO and easy to read, and that's nice when you're adjusting to a new look. From the topic list, scroll down to "Forum Legend" (blue is new replies, dark blue is no new replies). The colour system is actually taken from the official IPB icons, just adapted to LEGO (in the official LEGO colours, no less)
  21. Or maybe you do, the cheapest decent US figures on that list are 3.99 each and part of a superlot for the set of 16 @ $64. The only ones lower are the crappier ones or international. What's the cheapest set out there? A lot more than $2 or $2.50 each, I'll bet on that.
  22. Sometimes it's hard to tell what is and isn't allowed at different ranks, so honestly, I'm not sure. Check the "Other styles" pulldown above and see if it's there. If not, it isn't allowed right now and should just be edited out. Maybe. Still being debated. That's why I made it disappear before the board went live. It's odd, but if you think of it as a title you can change yourself, it's kind of neat, and certainly harmless. Ditto, but Invision felt differently and coded it into their current system. I'm already used to it, but I've been looking at this board in test form for a while. It'll virtually disappear for you eventually. ... are the same size they used to be. Make sure you're not viewing a cached page because they were reduced to the exact specifications of the former board yesterday. Agreed, but oddly enough, looking at the old board we didn't have very many of those icons. Most forums used the default set with only SW and Town being different. Whatever the case, I am planning to bring those over and try to put together a generic set for all of the other forums. I'll check Sci-fi after this post. The grey you describe in town and other areas is an unfortunate biproduct of poor planning by IPB. We're going to work around it eventually, but for now, it'll just be a little less bold than we'd like. This has already been covered if you read the full topic. As for why it isn't "fixed", it isn't broken. It's a style difference and we haven't decided if it's effective or not. The input we've received so far hasn't been conclusive and we're not going to just change it on a whim. As for 3 minutes, that may be the case if you run a simple board with one skin, but aside from the inherited template change, which is easy, the css change would need to be done to each of the 27 skins we currently have in our system (starting with the ones we're currently using, of course). I can assure you, for a change we haven't even decided to make, that's more time than 3 minutes. We know how to do it, but thanks for the info. Thanks everyone for your input!
  23. I came into series 1 hoping for a couple of sets and some spares of the ones that need multiples (the obvious cheerleader, zombie, spaceman, etc). At this stage, I have never walked in a store that had a single one for sale, or even an empty box on the shelf/counter/wherever. The US distribution of these has been appalling. From limiting it to 5 per customer on S@H with no guarantee that you won't get all the same figure to incredibly limited shipping quantities, this has been absolutely ridiculous. I'm not surprised that TRU raised the price on them, they've always been lame like that, but it hasn't mattered since they are never actually in the stores. I have been told by employees of those stores that they never got them in. I've also had one admit that they did arrive, but never made it to the floor. You figure it out. This distribution system was designed to create a frenzy. Plenty of companies have done it, it's nothing new. The problem comes if they can't feed on that frenzy at some point, and if they think it'll be series 2, they don't understand history. If they want to take advantage of this current demand, they need to fire up the machines and get boxes of series 1 out there quickly before people give up. If people can't get series 1, a lot will simply not bother with later series. The success of series 2 depends on the overall customer experience with series 1. I've seen this in everything from fine collectibles to Hasbro figures, you can't screw the collectors or in the end, you have a lot of merchandise to sit on when you think they're going to buy it up, and they don't. Trust me on this, TLG, get those boxes out there. Maybe you already plan to, maybe the whole problem is simple logistics and we'll see them start to arrive in larger quantities. I hope so, both for you, and for my collection. Seriously, get it right this time, I don't want to see something that so many were excited about turn into another moaning point in the future like the chrome c3po did. On the same note, be smart with the white Boba Fetts too. Enough said there.
  24. External links now open to a new window (or tab, depending on your browser settings). That's how it was on the old board and it seems that a majority of members liked it that way, so back it goes. Various small adjustments have been made to address issues that the members have brought up. At this point, there are a few things we plan to work on internally, so sit back, take a deep breath, and become one with the new look and feel of the site. Change is always a little shocking at first, but at this stage, it honestly isn't any different than going to your favourite store that has been remodeled to serve you better. Look around, get used to it, you'll be on your way again in no time. Please feel free to point out any glaring errors you may spot or just express your opinions about the whole process, and if anything major changes, we'll be sure to update you here. Have fun!
