  1. Added. He asked for a date in 2010, but I went ahead and put him after Dragonator (August 2009) and before Adam. If it gets there and he isn't ready, he can always be moved to January 2010.
  2. When I draw decals, I take a very close, high resolution picture of the figure to work from as a guide. I recently did this torso (ugliest torso in LEGO history) and can assure you that none of mine have any such defect/misprint. I always make a point of comparing all of the ones I own to pick the best to work from (LEGO does frequently get poor alignment when printing multiple colours) and comparing one of these from each official set as well as the magnet version didn't reveal this problem. You're going to need to post a pic before I believe this one.
  3. The next person who posts anything but a whole number is going to feel my wrath. Consider yourselves warned. Smartasses.
  4. Sounds interesting. Keep us updated, I might want one. Maybe.
  5. Happy Birthday, you three, especially #1, of course.
  6. There always has to be one. Usually, it's me.
  7. 22 contestants, and I only limited it to 100 so someone wouldn't say 1,895,457,378,699,013 and annoy me.
  8. Two Hoth for me as well, that's one I've already decided is worth doubling up, even if I have to go full price. I wish. I also wish I was keeping up better. I'm still a few sets off on Castle, only have 3 of the Agents and haven't even started Farm. I want that tiny tractor set that is apparently EU only or I'm boycotting the whole theme! Ok, so I'm not really going to boycott the theme, but that set looks so great that I shouldn't be discussing it in a SW thread. Yep, two of Hoth for me. Love those taun-tauns.
  9. If it started with a picture of LEGO and continued accordingly, I could see it being fine, but almost anything else would likely fail. What we're really against are the kinds of threads where someone posts a word or two as a way to inflate their post count. On the other hand, we had the EBRP, which was basically a role playing story told using Castle factions, that went on for a long time (and still is, sort of). So, it all depends on what you mean in the end. Basically, anything that just gets spammy will be stopped quickly, anything that adds value and content will be appreciated and encouraged.
  10. Hmmm... Siegfried, 86 and 99 in one thread. I wonder when The Chief will arrive.
  11. First, a special thanks to all the fools! And their builders. green dewback, BobaFett95, The Penguin, Matn, Peppermint M, Etzel, Sir Dano, Thrash, Erdbeereis, brickzone, cutlass_iz, General Armendariz, 3D Brickthing, Oky Wan Kenobi, Ricecracker, Titolian, eti, Guss, Meekrob, Clone O'Patra, hewkii9 and Natman8000 all qualified for entry (yes, I dropped all the rules and took everyone who made an effort, since that's what it's really all about). On to business! After the CRAZY CRAZY Contest comes the CRAZY CRAZY VOTING! Now, here's the twist, it isn't voting at all. Oh no, that would be far too sane and rational for a CRAZY contest like this. Instead, we're going to apply an obscure and particularly CRAZY formula to decide our winner, and we need your help! We need numbers, your numbers. Pick a number, any number from 1 to 100 and post it in this thread in bold and size 4, like this: 42 That's it. Doesn't matter if you entered or not, we just want your number, the more the merrier (CRAZIER!). You have until a random time to post these numbers, at which point I will apply the ancient and mystical (CRAZY) formula to decide which of our 22 entries is the winner. You may also make specific comments about the entries, my dark blue kepi, or the weather, but none of those are going to effect the outcome of the contest. NUMBERS, PLEASE!
  12. One of everything, duplicates when clearance/sale priced. As everyone has said, battle packs are the exception, since they're cheap and useful. In other themes, I'll buy duplicates of good impulse sets, but those don't exist in SW. It doesn't help when it's a theme with so many of the largest sets ever made. If I had more unlimited resources, I would buy duplicates for displays, but keeping up with SW, Indy, Pirates, Castle and all the other odds and ends in other themes is a little demanding. The Town farm sets, some of the Agents sets with unique parts, maybe some Power Miners...
  13. Let's take it step by step. They say it was an increase. Everything goes up in price. Sets are more, parts are more. The materials to create those items cost more. The transport of those items costs more. A loaf of bread costs more. Somehow you've missed this experience elsewhere, but it's life, get used to it. Yes, prices will go up on everything. Again and again and again. They say it was a mistake. People make mistakes. If you mean to increase the price on something but accidentally double it when you didn't intend it to be that much, you've made a mistake. Clearly, both can happen together, as they did here. They clearly have a right to increase prices, just as we have a right not to buy if we don't like it. We also have a right to contact them to complain, which apparently happened with a rewarding result. Now what you want is a huge announcement that it happened, but honestly, that's silly. If affected a very small number of people for a very short period of time. Anyone with a brain just didn't order. If I walk in a store and buy something and later find out it should have been less, I contact them and they make it right. TLG has done this in the past, and I sincerely expect that anyone who was stupid enough to order during the massive increase could contact them for an adjustment. No company announces that kind of thing, but they do it when asked. The prices have mostly been fixed. Bricks are still oddly priced, and that could change, but it might not. I don't really care. Anyone who buys large quantities of ordinary parts from PaB is an idiot. The parts that matter to me came down to very reasonable prices, many are cheaper than Bricklink and I can get them all at once in unlimited quantity. Trust me people, there are bigger issues in the world. That Laat/c for one. Edited to add: I did a quick comparison of some of the things I bought before getting tired of looking it up. I'm very aware of Bricklink prices, however, so someone who isn't could choose items that aren't priced so well. It's also important to remember that you can't always get large quantities of a single part from a seller, and you can't find all of these in any single store, so you're stuck with multiple orders and extra shipping. I saved a small fortune, just on the portion of the order I calculated. I know it would have continued to add up as I went through windows and I don't even know if you can get that new space figure torso on BL yet. Bricklink price: $1.35-5.50 (8 @ 1.35 in Italy, 25 @ 1.50 in Germany, 198 @ 1.701 in the US) PaB Price: .28 Bricklink price: $1.00-2.95 (2 @ 1.00 in US, 4 @ 1.25 in DK) PaB Price: .17 Bricklink price: .81-3.00 (19 @ .81 in Italy, 30 @ .90 in Germany, 3 @ .90 in the US) PaB Price: .17 Bricklink price: 1.50-2.49 (44 @ 1.50 in Germany, 5 @ 1.92 in the US) PaB Price: .16 Bricklink price: 1.0296-3.00 (1 @ 1.0296 in the UK, 30 @ 1.25 in Germany, 9 @ 1.25 in the US) PaB Price: .31 Bricklink price: .28-1.50 (80 @ .28 in DK, 1 @ .39 in NL, 3 @ .40 in the US) PaB Price: .19 Bricklink price: .441-1.50 (34 @ .441 in the US, 1 @ .45 in NL) PaB Price: .31
  14. All the good stuff is gone. The Indy sets, even the Emergency Room and larger Mars set, both of which were in my cart as I checked out and magically disappeared before confirmation.
  15. What do you people do with your figures, PLAY WITH THEM??? I haven't lost gold from a figure since the classic space and castle era. Do I wish they would improve the application/bonding a bit? Yes. Do I think it's a huge issue? Not for me, but yes, they should do something about this. That said, we have another topic on this already. I think you know that since it's your topic. I'm going to merge it into this one so you can keep your griping in one place.
  16. Every item I bought was cheaper than I could have bought them on Brickshelf, all from one place, all conveniently added to an order I wanted to make without increasing shipping. They were also items that had previously been unavailable from PaB, so they didn't go up in price. There are some bargains in there, there are some idiotic prices, it's like anything else, shop carefully and find the deal. On the other hand, that blasted Laat/c AT-OT whatever-it's-called is still vastly overpriced and won't be ordered by me until something changes. Agreed. 1x2, 1x4, 1x6, all the same price? That's the part they haven't fixed and the part that is crazy. I only order specialty parts and minifig stuff, so I don't care much, but I'd be annoyed trying to use LDD or order plain bricks at the current prices. That part is a confusing mess.
  17. Well, we had to have at least one dame in the group. Always glad to know that my efforts aren't wasted. Thanks for earning your place! Yeah yeah, in a perfect world. As I said, it's our way of saying thanks, and maybe it will motivate someone to make the effort to participate after they've already joined. I don't expect people to join games to get it, I just hope it'll be one more perk to get them to play once they are part of a game. Thanks! It was all me, from the idea to creating the tag. ME ME ME! Well, it was. I did have help deciding on the first recipients, however, so a special thanks to what's his name and that other guy.
  18. You don't know that any more than we can honestly say it was a mistake. It was or it wasn't. Either way, they responded to customer concerns or they fixed it on their own and the prices are good, the assortment is better than ever, and I just placed an order, so I'm happy with the result. Enough said.
  19. And with that, the CRAZY CRAZY CRAZINESS comes to a conclusion. Or does it? Stay tuned!
  20. You're fine, Meekrob, and welcome to EB, thanks for joining this CRAZY site!
  21. What's going on here? As some of you may have already noticed, there is a new tag floating around the forum, a decidedly menacing one with a pistol and the letter M, which does not stand for menacing, but Mafia and Mystery instead. Why are we doing this? Being a regular participant in Mafia and Mystery games takes a lot of dedication and time, and definitely adds to the enjoyment of those games. Clearly, it's something we'd like to encourage and recognise, and this is how we're doing it: a tag. This tag How do you get one? First, the easiest way NOT to get one is to ask. If you ask, either in a thread or in a game, you won't get one, and worse, you'll be added to the "not going to get one list" which currently doesn't exist. I hope it never does. That said, these special tags will be awarded, primarily between games, to people who have shown quality participation over the course of several games, whether playing or hosting. The best way to improve your chances of getting one is to do just that, participate, add quality and enjoyment to the games you're involved in, and don't be a jerk. I can't really find a better way to say that, but it just means not complaining and whining a lot or doing things to disrupt a game. It also means not disappearing or forgetting to play. It's really that simple. Play well (where have I heard that before?) and we just might show our appreciation. The initial round of recipients includes all players who have successfully won 2 or more games, plus those who have participated in the vast majority of games ever held here and made an effort to add quality to those games. The Current Recipients (in alphabetical order) Dragonator Hinckley (his is so tiny you can't see it... don't ask ) ImperialScouts ImperialShadows Quarryman Sir Dillon stash2sixx TheBrickster TinyPiesRUs Trexxen WhiteFang Zepher Before anyone asks (DON'T ASK), there are several of you who are very close, but just need a tiny bit more participation to reach the goal. So there you have it, our latest way to say thank you to the community for participating in and enjoying the fun and exciting opportunities offered here on EB. Feel free to reply to this thread, but remember the only rule or I'll have to stop the car and come back there.
  22. TLG themselves actually discuss this very topic on their own site, right here. Personally, I'm all for getting the most for my money, but typically, that doesn't mean buying standard bricks unless they're an unusual colour, I save those purchases for Bricklink orders that need a little extra added to them (I'll drop 100 or 500 of some brick in an order when they're .01 or .02 to get my price/part ratio up ). As for stacking... it just seems time consuming, plus, as I said, I don't do bricks really. The stuff I go for tends to be tiles, anything minifig related, door or window parts, sometimes plates, which I guess you could stack, but they would be a hassle later. My only real advice is to remember to drop very small things in to fill any gaps as you go. They always have an assortment of 1x1 round plates that do nicely for that. Shake gently to get them to settle and keep filling until you can't fill any more. Most of all, have fun. It's such a neat experience, like a produce department for LEGO. I think everyone should experience it sometime.
  23. Paradisa goes big! An impressive and daring project. Pink is hard enough to get as it is, I can't imagine trying to put this much of it together, but it's definitely shaping up nicely.
  24. Ut oh, it's her, machine gun Alice.
