  1. Another detailed article about some great products that I still don't own any of. The models are looking good, too. Well, one out of three isn't bad.
  2. And so is your character! I have two words for you ... Dick Linguini.
  3. I always liked that one, and that's despite my aversion to yellow buildings.
  4. In Ditalini, not this. As for Nester: Gender: Male Origin: Greek Meaning: Return Pronunciation: (NESS tor) Mythological, American, Greek, Greek Mythological Used in: English speaking countries Additional info: Nestor comes from the root 'nes', from which the ancient Greek language also developed 'neomai' ('to go away/back', 'to go to war') and 'nostos' ('a return home', 'a journey'). In Greek mythology Nestor was the son of Neleus and Chloris and King of Pylos. He appears in both the Iliad and the Odyssey where despite his old age he is noted for his bravery and oratorical ability. That's what she said.
  5. Wow. That was actually pretty insightful. It's just like poor Zepher having to learn how to play a male character.
  6. He met a Grim ending. Ha. Haha. Hahaha!
  7. Wah wah, change my hair, why did I get this face? change my name! I can't find my teddy bear! I think I just made #2! Give it a rest, people. Now I've seen everything... a Mafia game where people are trying to change their character.
  8. I'm here, hope I'm not late! *flutters eyelashes and flips hair back* Good! You get to pay for dinner! Hinck is
  9. The Peeron database isn't even vaguely compatible with TLG. They frequently use different numbers, describe colours with different names, and refer to parts in ways that TLG doesn't (seperating assemblies, or combining parts that TLG doesn't). Further, it includes many parts that no longer are in production and more errors in inventories than you would imagine. Add the need for sticker sheets that go back to the 60's and colours that are no longer available, and you've got a disaster. For your plan to work, TLG would have to develop their own database or buy Peeron and do more work than it's worth. It's a nice idea, but it just isn't realistic.
  10. So much to say... It's Ian, fleshied! Oh, nevermind, I didn't want to remind anyone of that. What? Uh, he looks NOTHING like Ian. Ian who? Iris! You know, this is the best name ever in one of these games. Oh great, that's going to be hard to remember. (that combo makes one heck of a great figure) Willie Fangioli had a kid and named him after Johnny Blue! Nooooooo... it can't be. How will I flirt with you? This looks like a lot of fun. Nice work so far, NewRight!
  11. I'll just sit here with this whip and see that you're properly motivated.
  12. Rules? For the staff??? This is CRAZY! (not that again...) Count me in!
  13. Is this ready to start?
  14. Are we close to getting this show on the road?

    Polybags

At one time, impulse style sets came in polybags. I specifically remember an Arctic set with a small sled and single hooded figure. It couldn't have been over $2.50. They were always cheaper than even the cheapest impulse available now. Alternately, I remember some very small Racers sets like that, but I had no interest in their lack-of-minifig-edness. I really like polybagged sets, promotional or not. They always seem to maximize the effect with a minimum of parts. They also take very little storage space, unlike their vastly oversized boxed counterparts. Just like they make baby oil out of babies.
  16. Great, there we go. This thread has about run it's course and you've made the last 3 posts, so I think it's time to shut it down. Case closed!
  17. You know, yours almost didn't make the non-existent rules (but how can it ... nevermind, it's CRAZY) until I applied additional effort to thinking about the deeper meaning of a jester who is actually the king and realised just how CRAZY it was. If there was a "most crazy in the least space" award, it would be yours.
  18. Everything. Then all of it in new colours as well. Or, to be more specific, CGH is dead on with the turkey and cows. I don't know what a fair price would be for either, but it would have to beat Bricklink and I'd place my biggest PaB order ever, without a doubt.
  19. You're a little behind on this one, we've had it since Toy Fair, but I'll merge it into the discussion thread since it adds another picture.
  20. But does anyone truly know The Meaning of Liff?
  21. I would never run a full fledged contest with no rules, no stated duration and no limits. Based on the variety of styles and sizes of entries, having rules would have only limited this to a very specific range of entries and we would have missed out on the opportunity to see some really nice efforts. I can certainly understand your concern, however, and will try to make it clearer in the future. Sadly, if you just say "raffle", some people won't make an actual effort to build something creative, and that cheats everyone.
  22. No. I plan to use this formula any time I need a truly random drawing and explaining it would make it possible to manipulate. Tricky, but possible. That's also why I gave it a random duration, just to prevent any possibility of influence. I will say this... it involves adding up all of your numbers. After that, it gets weird, but absolutely foolproof (Jester-proof?). When I revealed my intended method to the staff, I received a funny or two.
  23. And that concludes the CRAZY VOTING! I will now apply the magic formula to determine the winner! And the winner is ... Peppermint_M And what has Peppermint_M won? Why, a much coveted Jester, of course. Could there really be any other prize in a contest this CRAZY? Peppermint_M should now PM me a name and address for immediate prize dispatch. Congratulations to our winner and thanks again to all of the contestants who made this such a fine, CRAZY contest!
  24. Thank you for sharing your experience, it pretty much confirms what I believed they would do and what most businesses do in that situation, respond to specific requests and adjust accordingly. Believe me, if those prices had stayed, I would have been here screaming as loudly as anyone. The point, to me, is that they corrected it (I still question some of the plain brick prices, I'll admit). In the past, they've made pricing mistakes, they've just typically gone the other way with things added to the site at a lower price than intended. From what I have read, they've mostly honoured those prices. That earns them a little bit of leniency in my book when it comes to making a mistake in the other direction, as long as it's corrected, which it has been. I can tell you first hand that stores don't always react well to mistakes. I've literally taken an item to a register only to be told that they wouldn't sell it for the marked price, walked the manager to the display where there were 20 of the same thing marked at the same price with a huge sign over it and still had them refuse to honour their own price. I walked out and didn't return. I've had online retailers who just decided they didn't like the going rate after the order was placed and been told to either pay more or forget it. I forgot it. I think TLG did the right thing here and I'm happy with it.
