My votes went to M:Tron, Iceplanet 2002, Exploriens and UFO. I don't own any set of the first one, but even looking at them on pictures makes it apparent that they are, without exception, truly great and deserving of a re-interpretation. Their role doesn't have to change, civilians in space is something that seriously lacked since the Exploriens. Iceplanet is one of the two space-themes I grew up with and I think that their colour scheme is by far the easiest to pull off with the parts currently avaiable. It'd also make sense to release Iceplanet 2022 in 2012 or 2013, just like its ancestor got released ten of nine years prior to its setting. Exploriens is the other faction I grew up with and especially with the recent Alien invasion it'd make sense to start exploring space Finally, I have a soft spot for UFO because it was so drastically different from any previous faction. Their saucers and minifigs were beyond cool and the Interstellar Starfighter remained my largest space-set until finally getting my hands on the Deep Freeze Defender and the Explorien Starship. While Blacktron and Spacepolice are no doubt awesome, I don't think we'll see SP IV anytime soon. And Blacktron isn't it true self if it can't fight those goody-good guys from SP - those two simply belong together and shouldn't be separated. As for a completely new faction, SEATRON would be beyond awesome and a sure-fire hit. It'd also continue the deep-sea themes if Atlantis doesn't survive. And we then might get to see that epic monorail of the line

Those are some really intriguing designs and it's always fascinating to see what LDD allows, if only the user has enough patience and imagination Your previous design of the Air Isle looks huge but I understand why you had to resize is - those five pillars would have never been able to hold the central structure

Big medieval landscape: BIG UPDATE on page 26
Abu Dun replied to maydayartist's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Once again a great addition to the landscape, although I agree that it's a bit unfitting for selling vegetables. Maybe it's the warehouse of that trader who sells all those expensive robes to the nobles in the castle or the storehouse of the village. This would also fit to the slightly rugged style of it, as it appears to be a tad bit battered for being owned by a fairly rich merchant, especially with the differently coloured slopes on the roof and that slightly shifted tile in the second picture. I really like that, btw., as it adds a used style to the house. As does the one black arc, which one may interpret as remains of something close having burned and the flames having caught onto this building before the villagers could extinguish the fire. Either way, I'm eagerly awaiting what your finishing touches upon this building will look like and what your next building will be. -
Review: 2509 Earth Dragon Defense
Abu Dun replied to SpyFlops's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Collectin all 4 would be a great thing, but unfortunately the lightning and fire dragon only appear in really expensive sets - those two alone cost nearly 200€, which is quite a bit above my current budget, especially since they have to compete with the yet-to-be-bought sets from Kingdoms -
Big medieval landscape: BIG UPDATE on page 26

Just when I thought you couldn't get any better after seeing the stunning blacksmith, you come out with this incredibly detailed tavern. After so much praise you already received from everyone who follows your project, I am at a loss of words - because I'm running out of superlatives that would make your amazing effort any justice Keep up the great work and I really hope to see this piece of art being invited to a lot of exhibitions once it's finished -
This is starting to look really promising. Despite the more fantasy-inspired approach this looks surprisingly similar to an actual triere, something you probably intended from the beginning if you took your inspiration from Age of Mythology The colours really match well and I think dark red and reddish brown go together very well, as do the golden highlights at the side. Using the aft as some sort of storage area may be a good idea, as it'll likely be the most secure place on the finished ship and therefor is best suited to store important things. I'm looking forward to your updates and how the finished product will be like

Stunning work. I especially like how you managed to catch the essence of several scenes, such as the raptors hunting in the high gras, the rex trying to get into the cave or Muldoon being his badass self The amount of detail is breathtaking and even if someone hasn't seen any of the movies, those renditions may be enough to give them a try. Also, Yoda insulting the Spino is a very funny touch and a nice shoutout to those that know who originally created the dinos

Review: 2509 Earth Dragon Defense
Abu Dun replied to SpyFlops's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
A nice review which makes me want this little fellow even more. I love dragons and they're the sole reason I'm even interested in Ninjago in the first place. This one here has to be the most unique one and he'll be a great adversary to Fafnir and Co. -
I agree with Omerai, it's becoming better and better with every update you share. Taking those pictures in the dark and adding the glowing effects really works to a great extent and adds even more to the overall dark and mysterious feel the city already has

Again an impressive build and don't want to imagine how long it took you to complete that. The design really works well with your castle, and just like that it looks like a brick-built MOC if you only look at the picture in your sig. Having all the buildings in a similar style and a reduced palette of colour works really well, as it shows that the village or small town at the coast isn't too rich and most of the people can't afford fancy ornaments. The same goes for the little church, which looks quite cute and fits well into the scenery. Great work once again and I can't wait to see what you'll come up with next

Very nice expansion of the Lion castle, I especially like the throneroom and the trees, which really add to the overall feel of it. Well done and I hope you get around to finishing it soon, together with the bridge and the tower you mentioned But if I were a Dragon Knight, I wouldn't bother climbing the tree or trying to attack through the front gate - I'd simply enter a small boat and attack from the backside, which has a really weak point with that highly visible gate. Maybe you should conceal it a bit more so it's not that easy to make out anymore?

I absolutely adore the movies made by Ghibli, so it's great to see someone attempt to capture them in LEGO - which I didn't think was possible for most of them. Seeing Howl's castle inbricks is nothing short of amazing, especially in such a captivating manner that comes as close to the source as possible The same goes for your rendition of two of the most iconic scenes of 'My Neighbour Totoro', which I think you've nailed to perfection both times. Your Totoro is stunning and I'd immideately buy this and put it on display if it were an official set. The same goes for your catbus, although I think it should have been slightly larger, so that it's higher than Totoro and not the opposite. Neverhteless, you've done a great job on this one as well Finally, rendering the finale of Nausicaä was successful as well, I'm especially impressed on how you recreated her dress down to the ornament. Again, the Ohmu appears to be a bit small, especially since the windshields of the subs from the Divers make its eyes too large in comparison. But that's nitpicking and doesn't take away one bit from the impressiveness of your creations Do you plan to adapt other movies as well, like Laputa or Mononoke Hime?

What is your favorite Service Station in Lego City
Abu Dun replied to lightningtiger's topic in LEGO Town
My vote went to 6397, since I own it and it is a really lovely addition to any classic city while not looking out of place even in a more modern set-up either. Also, instead of the ugly and <insert that tiresome argument> 6548 you should instead have used it's direct predeccesor 6562 from 1995 - it's just a much better looking set. Or did you want to specifically make sure that the one you chose won't get any vote at all? As for what 6562 looked like, here's a picture of it: -
Although the colour you've chosen seems to be a bit odd at first, it works quite well and certainly adds to the unique feels of your build. The water tower is great as well and I'd really like to see where that tunnel leads to - as I guess the tracks are encompassing the whole wall?
-
Are those Duergar or Svirfneblin harvesting some of the fruits from one of the trees? In any case, it's looking amazing and, strangely enough, it feels much more alive and safe than a regular city of the Drow. The many different colours compliment eachother perfectly and greatly help to tell the story you've imagined for this little scene
-
A really nice creation with lots of interesting ideas. The way you used doors as roofing for the well or one of the old flintlock pistols as a pipe looks completely natural, almost as if they always were intended to be used in such a manner I also like the different clothes boasting the emblem of the Black Knights, you've done a great job in customizing them
-
The progress you've made looks very good, it's already possible to make out the shape of some parts of the city. Those special windows and the chandelier are a great design as well, I can'T wait to see those being implemented into the whole structure. What's the reason for always having an all-female party trying to raid your cities (not that they'd succeed, looking at how well it's guarded)? And yes, their evil counterparts certainly look like they'd wipe the floor with the goody-good-doers I also think I've spotted the warden of the mine already and I think you've nailed his design spot-on
-
A great design that would perfectly fit both in the official modular street as well as in a real-life, rural city. The combination of pub and costume shop is an excellent idea and I also like how you used both modern and classic minifigs for the costumes. Where is that huge shield with the two crowns and lilies coming from, is it a custom creation or part of an actual set?
-
A great creation which really fits into the line. I especially like the greenery you put in there, as it gives the whole thing a much more natural look, while it's not too complex in the used techniques
-
I'm stunned at how amazingly accurate you recreated this old yet trusty ship. I'm at a loss for words as to your attention to detail, you even included the chinese writings at her neck and they way you managed to build the area of the engine is masterful. As are all of the figures representing the crew, which I think you nailed to the point. Finally, using quotes from both the series and the movie to go with the fotos is a nice detail which adds the icing to the cake The only thing I'd like to criticise is that you should've added 'I call her Vera' to Jayne describing his beloved gun

I'm surprised that a male Drow is even allowed to get near the throne. I always was under the impression (which got greatly reinforced by my current run of BG II) that, even if they manage to achieve a fairly high status in society, male Drow are expendable, to put it nicely Those three new figures look great as well, although I'm clueless as to what the white and the red guy are meant to resemble. The one with the wings could be a Cambion of some kind, although I'm not too sure about him either. As for the warden of the Mine, he needs to be plenty powerful to fend off potential adventurers and protect the property of his house (he doesn't want to be replaced sooner than needed, after all), so he'll need some pretty strong armour even for a Drow, a special helmet and of course a magical and truly famous weapon. I'd guess him wielding the Crom Fayr should be enough for a start, although it might be hard to explain how he got his hands upon this almighty hammer How he managed to live through the constant attacks by dwarfs who surely would want to get this ancient heirlom back from some of their fiercest enemies is another story at all Of course he wouldn't be warding it alone, but him showing his profiency with the arcane magic via a magic wand in his other hand, or alternatively strapped at his back, would certainly add to the intimidating appearance
-
An interesting build, which from the setting looks like a well-done modern version of the classic river fortress of the forestmen. The way the elves are actually camouflaged a bit is really great, as is the revolving door which serves as the entry to the shrine I also like the way you incorporated the female figs and I don't think actual female elves would be so much different from yours - the ears might be hidden beneath the hair either way What I think is missing are some small branches and leaves at the trunk of the tree, since the area between the door and the treetop looks rather empty.

This looks amazing Judging by the size of the finished sections I think the only thing coming close to it would be the Galactica or the Deathstar - at least of the sci-fi movies and shows I know. I wonder how much this beast would weigh if every of the 20+ sections are connected and how you'd present it, since it appears to not have anything resembling landing gear (which, at this size, would crumble under the sheer weight, either way)? It's too bad it will never see the light of day, because it certainly would be really impressive to look at. The backstory you came up with is good as well, although I doubt that it would need 3000+ years to develop into such a galaxy-scale war - judging by history, the newly settled planets would want to break free much much earlier
-
Having finished BG just recently, I don't associate the 'Iron Throne' with the Drow, but rather with a huge organization intend to monopolize the iron trade along the Sword Coast But the crystal-throne looks really good as well and I think it'd fit better into the overall design of the city. I don't know all that much about the Drow, so I searched the Wiki for some ideas and I think I found something appropriate. Since the city itself is governed by the House Mae'Vir, I'd guess they'd also own the largest, least monster-infested and most resourceful mine in the vicinity. The mine itself might be refered to as 'Private Adamantium Mine of the high House of Mae'Vir. Intruders will be shot upon sight - if they're lucky.' I hope you like it As for the sigfig/avatar, although I have quite concrete ideas about how it'll look like once I get around to actually make it (a mod of the dragon master), I doubt it'd fit into the city unless it's a part of an invading group of adventurers. Some of your drow archers accompanied by two to three bladesingers, a priestess and a lesser beholder would suffice as wards for the mine. I imagine that the way they gather the material for their equipment is, after all, one of their best-protected secrets
-
Once again, your latest city of the Drow is already looking amazing Especially the floor consisting of different cheese is a great idea which I think may find its way into a lot of other creations I don't know how near the mines are, but maybe you could implement a mine where the Drow search for their Adamantium? Some Drow would observe the slaves, which might consist of Duergar, captured adventurers (if they aren't used as amusement for the higher-ups) or umber hulks?
