  1. Makes sense :) The additional pictures are great as well, that little dragon and the fairies are really cute
  2. Looking at this embassy I can't understand just why the Drow are this shunned - aside from the colour it fits right into the Mitgardian style of building houses The details are great as always, I especially like the Santa and the sky at midnight - your moon, stars and tiny dragons are gorgeous. But is this the entire building or just the roof of something much larger? It certainly looks like there are a few stories beneath this structure - and with rilauven being one of the major Drow cities I don't think they'd settle for such a 'small' embassy.
  3. So it's finally done, huh. It was great to follow the growth of this city and see it develop and you most certainly didn't disappoint at all. I've only glimpsed at the small photos in the opening thread, but those already show just how much attention you pay to every detail, regardless of it being an eyecatcher (like the ancient beholder) or a small feature hidden within the boundaries of the town (like the invading party of adventurers) Now I'm anxiously awaiting your next project to further increase the fame of the Drow within and beyond the world of Historica If you'll excuse me now, I'm going to spend the next 5 or so hours drooling over the beauty that is Lith My'athar
  4. Shelob originally was the last part of the second book, so it appears that the first wave will focus on the first two books, while the third may be done later. Either way, there's enough stuff for several waves, what with Rivendell, Bree, the Shire, Edoras, Fangorn, Isengart, etc. etc. being some of the most important places of these two. As for the duration being closely bound to new releases of themovies, well, I've heard sometime ago that the original trilogy is sheduled for a re-release in cinema after the Hobbit is done. If this rumour proves to be true we'll be in for some years of LotR-sets On the other hand, converting the Silmarillion into one movie is outright impossible, as it's spans several millenia from the Song of the Ainur to the Fall of Angband and consists of multiple stories that are woven into eachother. Even the Tale of the Children of Hurin, Feanor's bane, Tuor and the Fall of Gondolin as well as the Lay of Beren and Luthien (the four centerpieces of that collection) all would need two films each - at the very least, . If anything, a series divided into several volumes would be the only way one can stay even remotely true to the entire Silmarillion.
  5. An impressive creation as always, Angeli If the sheer size of that tower doesn't scare cheeky adventurers away, then the giant beholder certainly will. That thing has to have the size of an small-sized dragon, if the unlucky skellies are any indication
  6. An intereting build and quite different from the usual avalonian or mitgardian structure - just like it is to be expected from the eastern engineers. Those trees are beautifully done and while they may obscure the view a bit, they do add a lot to the scenery. The outpost itself has a nice angled shape and, although the entrance may be a tad bit too easy to storm, likely can defend itself against a reasonable force. The openings for the archers are perfectly done as well. What I like most is the beacon at the top, the light of which can be seen from very far away and which shows an ingenious use of this piece Great work and a nice way to show that nocturnian architecture isn't nearly as confined in its limitations as in the more human-centered guilds.
  7. Wow, that's a rather gruesome setting and rule for a guild that likes to see itself as the sole upholder of light and peace Not showing any mercy whatsoever to already defeaten soldiers isn't exactly going along with the main theme of Avalonia and doesn't make them any better than the Drow. Quite the contrary, the Drow at least give their captives the - although nearly non-existant - chance of living through it That aside, I like the scene you created and it'd perfectly fit into a medieval prison, right down to the deceased hanging around and the measures taken to not soil the floor anymore than needed when beheading that poor guy. I do wonder, though, if the staff doesn't enjoy torturing and killing a bit too much, if the grin of some of them is any indication
  8. That has to be one of the mightiest trees ever built for a 32x32 MOC The overall detail is simply astounding, especially the organic feeling of the rock and the way you made the tree look alive with it having a rough and weathered bark. The stony staircase leading to the overarching branch is hidden really well, as are the stairs, ladders and ropes leading to the top of the tree itself. Finally, the population is a nice mix of modern and classic figs and Ewoks, who perfectly fit into something that resembles the opening to a magical forest
  9. Great update, the small tower greatly benefits from placing it on a small hill and adding some landscape It probably wouldn't hold its own against an enemy raid, but from the looks of it it is meant to watch the borders and secure early sightings instead of slowing the opposing troops down. After all, watchtowers that could defend themselves over a span of several days or even weeks are the minority. I can imagine a bunch of those being placed at distinctive/strategic locations near the borders while being supervised by something like Silver.Smiths' small fort.
  10. Wouldn't Drow raid a Dwarven city from the caves instead from the surface, though? That large gate wouldn't stop them at all, while it would hinder the dwarves from escaping if they're overrun. On another note, reading through the different guilds is really fun and provides both inspiration for own creations and a good laugh, especially when Drow tourists get accused of being spies
  11. Aside from Neverwinter Nights, I've played the classic RPGs situated in the Forgotten Realms (Baldurs Gate-series and Icewind Dale-series) and I agree that these are a great source of material The Veldrin I hinted at was the same you mentioned and, although some of them lived to see another day, after my visit Ust Natha needed a lot of new citizens, especially a new queen and princess
  12. So the queen of the Drow is only known as Valsharess and her currently favoured male is called Veldrin? I wonder where I've heard that before. Let's just hope that this particular Veldrin doesn't do the same things as his relative whose visit in Ust Natha didn't end well - for the Drow, that is But I guess the people of Lith My'athar aren't that easily infiltrated That demon of unkknown kind looks fierce and I agree that the Drow are justified in being happy that he - for now - allied himself with them. The half-dragon really looks like Madae and if I were part of any guild, I certainly wouldn't want to oppose him/her without proper equipment. All in all, those new figures look really great and Lith My'athar certainly isn't lacking in diverse inhabitants.
  13. A lovely build and I really like that, if no forestmen is there, it is really well hidden inbetween the foliage of the tree. Thus the guards won't be seen until it's too late Also love the nocturnian raid, I imagine the fun being exponentially increased if partners are members of opposing guilds
  14. Once again, this are some outstanding creations. Seeing them in real bricks - especially the Air Isle - is one of the most definite proves that there are next to no limits as to how unique and at the same time architecturally challenging one can build if only the imagination can keep up
  15. Rearranging the existing village into a christmas market works exceedingly well. I, for one, wouldn't mind having the finished landscape in a wintery outfit in addition to the spring or summer one. Changing it according to the seasons, with e.g. a partially frozen river for winter, blossoming flowers for spring and decaying leaves for autumn may add the ultimate finish and set this already amazing piece of art on the very top of large-scale MOCs. That being said, what are you currently building? Another house for the village or have you started on the castle?
  16. An interesting update once again, it's becoming more and more apparent that your city will be rather crowded. I haven't heard of the Blood Elves yet, so I wonder what their alignement is supposed to be. I doubt they're all that friendly towards the Drow, but a common enemy sometimes creates interesting yet fragile alliances. Concerning your previous update of the city itself, I especially like the tree and the pyramide, as their colour scheme will make them real highlights between the black and red buildings. The pyramide itself is a superb building all on its own and could easily double as a recreation of the great egyptian pyramides of old
  17. All of the entries are amazing and it's really hard to pick a favourite. So I'm going to split the points and give it to the 5 creations I think to have a slight edge over the other ones. 1. Horry's Sunken Sabre Island - 1 Point Rather small compared to some of the other entries, it captures the feel of this classic pirates set to 100 %. The wreck of the boat as well as the plants growing out of several places add the final detail. I imagine it to be an ideal spot for divers to discover history from from an era long gone. 3. Ninja Nin's Underwater Bank & Money Transfer - 1 Point I'm not much of a fan of modern city, but that sunken bank is stunning. The detail is great and I especially like the crab that chose the van for its home. 4. Oky's The Sunken Ruins of the Royal Knights' Castle - 1 Point I wonder how earth must've changed for a castle sitting on top of a large hill to become completely submerged, but it's pulled of really nice. The way it's slowly falling apart done in a detailed and believable way, but I still have to find the ghost that supposedly still hunts the ruins. 10. Spacy Smoke's Sunken City Corner - 1 point Similar to the bank in its approach, this appears to be in a slightly earlier stage of being grown over. Nontheless its an interesting idea and gets bonus points for reminding me of a bunch of stories where the water level has risen fast enough for vehicles being caught in it. 11. Thor Lund's Subvan Campicus SXF 2000 - 1 point Probably the most innovative idea of the contest, the camper changed into a sub for touristic exploration of the deep seas is my personal favourite.
  18. Even at 1/4th of your actual project, the size of that city is awe inspiring. I can't even begin to imagine how much time you needed to put this together, especially since you included every little detail of its larger relative. Great work and I can't wait to see the final result of the actual town
  19. That's true, browsing the site is quite difficult. For now the best way seems to be clicking 'discover', then on 'New projects' and afterwards clicking 'view more' at the bottom of the page. This way you at least get to see the most recent ideas. Aside from your own activity I haven't found out how to check older ones, but since it's still only a Beta I hope that it'll improve a lot over time, especially in accessibility.
  20. I registered a couple days ago and there are a great many interesting ideas to be found already, ranging from single pieces to entire new themes (e.g. One Piece). It's an admireable move of TLC to go this route, as I'm sure it will, over time, greatly increase the diversity off their entire line-up.
  21. The cities you've already completed are enourmous works all on their own, but seeing all of your creations around the culture of the Drow makes it frighteningly clear just how big of a project this really is. Having an Index similar to the Unseen library is completely justified, given that only your recent Lith My'Athar is viewed regurlary, despite every single one deserving the most attention and appreciation The same goes for that bazillion of original minifigures you design for each new city
  22. The additional pictures from the village are great and really allow to sink into that creation even more Your outpost looks good so far. Is it just me or does it appear to cover an even larger area than the castle?
  23. That's an interesting creation you've got there and I agree with johnnyvgoode that the orange cockpit looked better than the trans blue one. The ship in general looks really good, the shapes fit and I wouldn't say the body is too long, either. Shortening it would make the wings too large in comparison, so you managed to find a great solution for it to look as good as it does. What I don't like is how it feels more like a bomber or fighter and I don't know if this really fits with the more or less civilian role of Ice Planet And isn't Mach 9 a tad bit slow for a ship designed to travel space? Without some sort of hyperspace-module it'd take thousands of years to travel between the planets
  24. Sounds interesting and definitely not like something TLC had in mind when designing those wheels, jumpers and clips
  25. Since there are a lot of equally iconic sports cars that are at least as fascinating as the 911, I never really got why Porsche is such a big deal I mean, it's been ages since they created something truly new and unique Nontheless, your rendition of that particular car looks really great and true to the original. You caught the proportions as good as it's possible with LEGO and even someone not into either would likely reckognize what you based that MOC of yours on. This alone is already praiseworthy. Out of curiousity, what sequence on that build featured something you hadn't thought of being possible?
