This is beyond epic The way you've captured every detail of the structure and even managed to build it at almost the correct scale is impressive and elevating the benchmark for future builds quite a bit. What I'm most impressed with is how you captured the situation when the forces of Saruman are gathering in front of the Deeping Wall and the defending troops awaiting the onslaught Having Aragorn and Gimli already outside of the secret door is a nice feature, as well.

[Review] 30201 Monster Fighters ghost polybag
Abu Dun replied to Lego Amaryl's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
A nice review of a cute little set. Before that, I didn't even know it existed, but this review sparked my interest and I bought one, as well. Now I'm going to see if I can add a couple more, because the ghost itself is just plain awesome and a most welcome addition to my monster collection. And the build is great for a small polybag as well, both to add detail to existing buildings (Vampire Manor, e.g.) as well as getting a couple reddish brown pieces and some short chains. -

Big medieval landscape: BIG UPDATE on page 26
Abu Dun replied to maydayartist's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
After seeing the fotos of the convention, I dare say that the building going on at the castle would be more than sufficient for a top-class MOC in its own right. You captured that scene perfectly and the cranes as well as all the other tools are beyond amazing. It's almost a shame that they're going to leave the site once everything is finished, as each and every one of them is a neat and highly detailed creation on its own. -
Big medieval landscape: BIG UPDATE on page 26

This is looking really nice already and, even in this early stage, it can already be imagined how hard this castle/stronghold/keep will be to conquer The round tower looks really good, although I think a thicker wall would give it a much sturdier appearance. Right now it looks like it'd be breached by a single, well-aimed shot As for the gate, the size is fine the way it is. It looks like this is the one separating the lower keep from the upper one, so it naturally should be smaller than the maingate. Even if it indeed is the maingate, a bigger one wouldn't really fit with the path leading up to it and it would also greatly reduce the defensive purpose it probably is supposed to have. Furthermore, a large carriage wouldn't be able to make its way up the hill either way due to the slope being too steep at some places, so there's no need for a bigger gate from this perspective, either. -
Interesting idea and increasing the variety of the LEGO animals is long overdue: 1. Tiger (big mold, with possibility to attach a mane to get male lions) 2. big Wolf 3. Seals (more sealife in general!) 4. Turtles or other large reptilians 5. Kangaroos

Impressive as always and great job at making it part of a charity to help someone in need The modifications are well-placed and contribute a lot to the overarcing theme, especially the temple being further away from the town and even higher up in the sky. I'm positive your next project will be just as amazing and good luck at usurping the throne of Nocturnus - the guild needs a strong leader in days such as these

As hard to decide as always, due to so many creative entries. But these are my three favourites: 19: Angeli Elesee-Luna - 2 points 25: Hersbruker The Hidden Land - 2 points 33: Tazmaniac Quest for the Fire Crystal - 1 point Good job by everyone and good luck to all who entered

Looking great and I like how you recreate it following the description in the books. The wall being so smooth may not allow for a lot of texture, but it's true to the original, where the small gap for the little waterflow was the only point it could be attacked at. The size is also great and gives the whole thing even more of a feeling of it being a true and effective defense Can't wait to see it develop further and, once its finished, to watch it in all its glory Do you plan to inhabitate it with an army of Eorlingas (i.e.) according to the book or to the movies? The first one may be more expensive (there were ~2000 of them, after all, not counting the reinforcements brought in by Gandalf) but it would certainly look more impressive than the measly ~300 troops they supposedly had during the siege in the movie.

I'm following that project for quite some time now and it's really incredible how you're pulling through. It's so massive that it, once finished, rivals even some of the smaller layouts in the themeparks of LEGO For the convention I'd choose section 5 and/or 7 because those two seem to highlight the city the most. Especially that elevated railroad as well as the white skyscraper are sure to attract lots of attention and could help you in gathering the support you look for. Regardless of which sections you choose, though, I'm certain that it will look amazing in real bricks

While the arc certainly looks great, I don't think it really blends in with the celestial theme all that well. I'd expect this more in a city of Sahuagin, Githyanki or Ku-Toa than in one inhabitated by angelic creatures. It does look a bit too menacing for the place

Big medieval landscape: BIG UPDATE on page 26
Abu Dun replied to maydayartist's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
After following the entire thing from the beginning, I knew it was going to be great. But, maydayartist, you have just blown me completely away. Everything looks so natural and in tune with the overall scene that I'm utterly speechless. And you haven't even finished it yet You, sir, absolutely deserve the 'artist' in your nick, because nobody, not even those without a glimpse of knowledge could deny that what you are creating is, indeed, a piece of art - and the very finest at that Also, I hope the delivery you expect will fulfill your standards and I'm sure it'll greatly supplement any of your creations, those in the present and the future. -
Looking great as usual, Angeli, and the celestial touch becomes more and more apparent The three dragons are astonishing, as is the temple at the summit of the mountain. I could be wrong, but perhaps the helmet was the sigil of either Tempus or Talos. Neither would really fit into the scenario of that town being mostly a place for lawful good beings, though

This is coming along really nice. I like that the central parts are shaped like a cross, this gives it a really distinctive style and makes it easily reckognizable. The symmetry of the several parts is an interesting feature as well and I'm eager to see how it develops in the future It also looks like the resident wizard is attempting research in the structure of the human body, but for what end should perhaps remain his secret?

Big medieval landscape: BIG UPDATE on page 26
Abu Dun replied to maydayartist's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
As a stand-alone, that last house probably was the least exciting out of those you've built (which means it's still great compared to many, many others), maybe due to it not having the same impressive size or unique features as the others. But seeing it incorporated into the scenery more than makes up for it. It fits so perfectly into the designated spot that it's almost unbelievable. The tree in front of one side adds further incentive to the natural feeling the shot of that house gives It'll be really hard and painful to wait for a complete view over the landscape, but what about a teaser of the completed village at the foot of the mountain? Upon seeing chapter 5 in its horizontal perspective, I can understand that you felt it being a bit too weak at the base structures. It certainly looks like it could use another couple of supports to increase the overall stability. ButI'm glad that everything is fixed now and that nothing of your hard work is lost. That being said, you mentioned a couple of times that you may be running low on bricks long before the end, so I wonder how the situation looks like, now that only the castle/fort/stronghold on top of the mountain remains to be built? -
Modular Spacecraft [LDD MOC]
Abu Dun replied to vynsane's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Just like with your fleet of starfighters, you've yet again done a great job at these more civilian crafts I especially like that you created your own, unique style that greatly adds to the overall feel of all your ships. What's more, I can easily picture each and any of them being featured in a Sci-Fi set sometime after conquering space began Keep up the good work -

I'm always amazed at your spacecrafts, but that second Ryu/Tokkan painted in the colours of Space Police 1 looks absolutely gorgeous. It has a menacing feel to it and I certainly wouldn't like to be the pilot of a Blacktron Transgressor who has to go against this beast of an interceptor-type ship All your other ships are beautifully built as well and patiently waiting for the next model to be released by Tanuki Corp. may prove to be difficult -
This isn't fair, not in the least Just when I need to keep even closer tabs on what I spend my for, such amazing pictures tempt me into throwing all other things aside. Helm's Deep is a real beauty and I amazed at just how well TLC has managed to capture the look of the movies, while still giving it their own style. The same goes for all the other sets and there'll probably be no way around getting them all at some point - much to the horror of my wallet
-
You simply never fail to amaze with your creations and your style is truly unique. The band of merry girls looks funny, I love how even the torso of the Explorien Commander is getting a use in a fantasy-themed setting :D Your mosaics are breath-taking as usual, but what I like the most is actually how you've built the main gate with those trans-blue doors in front of black archs and a white wall behind them - it looks completely different from your usual style and perfectly fits a citadel in the plane of lawful good outsiders :)
-
That's simply stunning It really is in stark contrast to your fairies, and the chubacabra looks like he'll go for anything that can't escape fast enough What I like the most, though, is the usage of the arms and tails of the old green dragons as cacti. They're suited perfectly for this use and actually doing so is ingenious, as I think everyone will agree

Once again you've managed to absolutely exceed the expectations. That postmill of yours looks just like the ones that still can be visited where I live, right down to the colour scheme Now I hope you can manage to find a good spot to place it at, but I'm positive that this won't be a problem for you -
An interesting project you've got there. I love Berserk as well, but I don't think it lends itself that well for being recreated in LEGO. That being said, you've done a great job on them and I'm eager to see what you'll come up with in the future. As for the figures themselves, I think that Griffith is your best one, with Pippin and Rickert tying for the second place. Young Guts is good as well, but I think that particular head doesn't quite fit I don't know if there are any black female heads, but if so then Casca should definitely get one as she's supposed to have the darkest skin of the entire cast. I imagine Judeau as being the most difficult to convert into a minifig, with that in mind I think you've done the best possible. Those two daggers right under his shoulders do look awkward, though. Corkus and Gaston are spot on, nothing to improve with those two. Zodd is a mixed bag. The weapons, the hair and the facial structures are spot on again, but he really should have Hagrids body as well, since he is even larger than Pippin in his human form. The green colour of the troll-head is suboptimal, but I don't know a head that would fit him any better than the one you've chosen. Finally, if yor're planning to do the apostles, are you going to build them with bricks or do you plan on only using their human forms? Especially Zodd, Grunbeld, the snake-shaped one from the first chapter and Wyald would certainly be worth a try. Rosinu may be a bit too inappropriate, depending on which of her several appearances one chooses

It's really hard to choose between those wonderful entries, but here are my votes: 4. Inn by Dix - 2 points 8. Train Station by cava - 2 points 10. Mountain Guides Station by Priovit70 - 1 point Good luck to everyone, all of the entries would deserve the victory

A fascinating build which more than succeeds in conveying the idea of an avalonian embassy in nocturnian lands While it may be a bit too symmetrical for an elven building, it feels very organic and and incorporates the structures of the oak very well. What I like the most, though, is the crown of this magnificient tree, which looks amazing Also, good job on the swamp-creature/plant, it looks very unique and fits right into the swamp, with its lime-green and black colour scheme.

The Legend of the Nocturnus Werewolves
Abu Dun replied to Hersbrucker's topic in Guilds of Historica
That is a wonderful project indeed. Allowing us to watch how your Werewolves slowly occupy the country and mold it to fit their needs is a great idea and I'm anxiously awaiting the next chapter
