That would be great, but could you price it up first and add shipping costs, just so we can figure out if it will be too expensive.

Hmmm doesn't look too bad but I think they could of done a better job on the roof.

I used to be a Landscaper, but now I work with Forklifts and Wagons in a cement factory, I am not an engineer as such but I have used a lot of the things that members make MOC's (vehicle wise) of.

Thanks for the replies folks I'll try that, and thank you 'WhiteFang' for moving the topic to the right place

Hi I don't know if this is the right place to put this, so I'll just go on. I'm wondering how some of the member's on here get the little train pictures underneath the post's that they make, I suppose you add them to your profile, but I don't know how or where to get them from. Some member's have there track layout on too I think I've figured where they get that from, I think It's blue brick. Anyway I'm sure one of you will know what I'm on about and will be able to help me. Many thanks Gareth

That's a really good tanker, and using the three wheel design makes it look better, not too long and two wheels would just not look right. Yes a parts list would be nice as I'd like to have a go at making it.

Thats a really good loco Capt. Stabbin. Like Fuzzylegobricks said it does look a lot like the one coming out later this year, but I seem to like yours better I think it's the use of those windows it makes it look like my favouret style of Lego trains (80's). Also I like use of the numbers and all the foliage around the track, that's very good. Brill Keep it up.

Ah thanks, I was wondering about the bottom of the door, that's a shame about the shutter's not fitting. The only reason is that I like the style of how the doors and windows look, it's a bit different from the normal ones with a window having twelve pains instead the usual four or the lattice look, its a shame Lego don't still continue with the designs.

Yes 'AFOL12V' it is a good train and also you have done very well in keeping to the 12volt 'Gray era' style. How did you get on with the instructions because I would love to also make a version of this model and add it to my collection. Do you still have it in your layout?.

Hi, I was wondering and if I can get hold of any what the Lego Minitalia doors and windows are like and if the shutters would fit on them the same as they do on the normal Lego windows. The reason for this is that I think the Minitalia windows and doors look a bit better with more panals than standerd doors and windows. If anyone was wondering Lego Minitalia was Lego manufactured in Italy in the 70's a lot like Samsonite in the U.S. If anyone has had any use with them I am looking forward to hearing from you, thanks.

How's this set up coming along? has you'r friend had any more sets? it's good I like it.

What's you'r bricklink shop called I might pop on and take a look.

Nice, always loved playing the games on Play station, nice to see you've made a LEGO version how do you get those Cobi webbing just by buying the sets? TLG should make some accessories like that.
-
Its very nice and open you don't get that much with other peoples city's they always look too crowded I like it and also a lot of room for expansion too, can't wait to see what you add next.

Most of my buildings are from the 80's and so is the train system I use, so the only way to get them to all go together is to keep on building like that. More complex looking sets from today's line are either just too big or just look odd. It's pretty simple but the thing to get right is the colour it's very easy to make something good looking into something very plane and boring just by using the wrong colours. The is a web site where you can buy models like this called 'Me Models' they have some very nice 80's style houses on there.

T LG pick a brick prices are a bit high and the choice is a bit limited, but there are some things you can find on there cheaper than Brick link black windows for example and train doors.

When I found out about Brick link last year, I actually started spending less money on Lego, because I could order what I want and for a good price too. The other way before was through E-Bay and I think one month I managed to spend at least £200 on actual sets, so brick link was a god send and has actually saved me a lot of money Usually I buy around three orders a month ranging from about £6 to £20 I don't like spending too much especially on the minimum buy shops. I have a big garage for all my storage of sets so I no longer worry about that but yes I do think about how much a lot of MOC's cost especially those modular buildings, I even thought that about 'LEGO Train 12 volts' set up even though mine is not that much smaller looking at it all set out make's you go ooooh. I fact whilst typing this I have just received a bricklink order from the post.

Quick query - Getting started with LEGO Trains
Gareth replied to Treadwah's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I saw this book the other day on E-bay going for about £40 sorry don't know what that is in dollars, was going to buy it but brought more track instead for a bargain! It's a shame there isn't more copy's out there I would like to get it but $150 is just daft even £40 is a lot for a book. -
Yes thanks Andy that is very similar to what I came up with although mine was for 12 volts and would be controlled from the speed regulator/switches , but yes that's it. Thank's

I don't know why people pay such high prices for set like this, good as they are most of the pieces can be brought really cheaply on brick link and the instructions downloaded from peeron or brick factory so you can have the satisfaction of recreating a classic set either exactly or with you'r own twists on it, make the house blue for example. any way cool classic set and thanks that's given me a good idea!.

That is a really good MOC. I'm glad this got bumped to the top (I probably wouldn't of noticed it otherwise)the costruction is so like the set you mentioned but a bit larger and a lot better and a goodway of reconstructing the 'A' frame. The rock face is also very good it must of taken a while to get that right?. The base plates I wouldn't of paid any attention to it if you hadn't mentioned it, but blue isn't that off compared to something like red. great work keep on going.

Right I've been trying out a few ideas and seem to come up with something. The idea I have goes along the line of having an arm that physically either comes down or slides across and holds the rolling stock in place to let the engine move away. The motor I tested it with was the 4.5volt motor '870' with gear reduction kit '872' and switch control units '7863'. It seem's to work well enough all I need to do now is refine it and post pictures up when I have the time. Another question is does the control switch for set '7862' do exactly the same as the unit from '7863' ?
-
Ah thanks guy's, that's a shame that it doesn't work very well I'm not in that desperate need of one to complete my collection. I'll just have to come up with a solution my self something using the control boxes for the decoupler set and may be a 4.5 volt motor or even 12 volt. I'll have to throw some ideas about and see what I get out of it. Thank you for all you'r help.

Hi everyone. I have more questions this time its about the 12 volt decoupler '7862' why is there so few for sale compared to other items such as points, did TLC not make many of them or are they easy to get broken?. Looking at the set it does not seem to be too hard to recreate one with the use of a switch motor and some technic pieces (I hope anyway) and all the appropriate controllers etc . If any one has already solved this problem and actually made one I'd love to hear off them. Many thanks Gareth.
