Hennessey Venom F5 Revolution
Lox Lego replied to Lox Lego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks Jerry :) appreciate the feedback from a fellow designer - it was fun finding the right parts for these odd shapes. I do enjoy a good challenge at times. Cheers JTS - it was a car I chose the minute I saw the McLaren panels, knowing the curved arches would suit the high front wheel arch area best. the stickers are on route from Nuno so I’ll be updating the photos with the new stickers and some outdoor shots (when the snow melts) this summer! -
Hello all! Today I'm pleased to share with you the Hennessey Venom F5 Revolution! This hypercar seemed to be the perfect fit for panel selection from the P1 offerings... The new curved fender panels and taller rear wheel arch seemed amazing to replicate this brilliantly shaped American speed demon! Many new techniques were used to create the shaping and design of this MOC, and the quick motorized lift system was the second hardest part of the build. The most complex design feature was definitely the doors, they're quite heavy and required very careful leverage to open them. Then I needed a new way to keep them open, so I created a ratchet mechanism to keep the doors open without falling down and two buttons in the engine bay to release them. Built for RC or manual enthusiasts, this car has HOG, working steering wheel, two gears tucked into the engine bay that can be used to lift the suspension manually or open the front two doors from the back of the car. The instructions are without the black stripe at the front (full Bright orange), but you can change it to a more sporty look with the change of the 3x 11L beams and #5, #6 technic panels. Motorized options are below: I was very happy to use the hotdog parts as steering wheel handles and with help from a good friend the snow board used for the backrest of the seat. Porsche 911 (992) GT3 R
Lox Lego replied to Lox Lego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi, I do agree the front could have been at least 1 stud lower. when shaping it is sometimes a compromise as to whether the panel placement will work on the perfect angles. As I went lower, other appearances looked poor so I kept what you see here. This I totally agree. But chose to use the cheaper 4L axles instead of 5L black axles for the wing height to keep the rare part count down. Thanks! Thanks Langko, I use Lego as a creative outlet without boundaries and have pushed myself to follow the lines as close to the original as possible, not worrying about perfect connections but placing appearance first. Here are a few more photos. Thanks for the interest guys. Hello Gents, I'm very pleased to announce my latest design the Porsche 911 (992) GT3 R! Porsche 911 GT3 R by lachlan cameron, on Flickr When I saw that Anto had created a new gearbox/shifter with the new parts and MTG from Instagram requested this newest Porsche, completely redesigned from the carbon fiber framework to the aerodynamics I knew what had to be done. Insane gearbox designed by anto !! by lachlan cameron, on Flickr I have stayed away from designing any Porsche 911 as the original 42056-1 was super iconic and I wanted to create something very different than that. So fast forward to today and Porsche unleashed the latest racecar to the circuit, the 911 (992) GT3 R! Porsche 911 GT3 R by lachlan cameron, on Flickr This design is loaded with functions, 6 speed gearbox with neutral and reverse (thanks ANTO!) HOG with working steering wheel, 5 suspension heights with 3 of the heights having torsion bar, lockable doors, opening trunk, inline 6 engine linked to a gearbox and working paddle shifter! Porsche 911 GT3 water 💦 by lachlan cameron, on Flickr I wanted to design the car with the black exterior and red trim, to replicate the real color of the new racecar. The only way to do this with original Lego pcs was to do so with the 13x2 wheel arches. So I had to try an make this work with the larger daytona rims and it turned out to have just enough space under the arches for full steering capabilities at each ride height. Now the car is avail in both red and black colors. Porsche 911 GT3 R by lachlan cameron, on Flickr As usual I wanted to showcase all the functions well, the gearbox is highly visible allowing for maximum playability and view of the real mechanics running this 1:8 supercar. Hi all! I have taken some cues from @LegoHoops with this fully Lime modified BMW M4 GT3. I love what he did with the rear lights, so I've changed those to have trans clear integrated. This required new instructions and part list to bring the lime version to life due to the limited pcs. Thanks to the new Lego Lamborghini Huracan 42161-1 many of the new panels are avail with this set. https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-167189/Loxlego/bmw-m4-gt3-lime-version/#details Full Lego Lime BMW M4 GT3 by lachlan cameron, on Flickr Full Lego Lime BMW M4 GT3 by lachlan cameron, on Flickr Full Lego Lime BMW M4 GT3 by lachlan cameron, on Flickr Full Lego Lime BMW M4 GT3 by lachlan cameron, on Flickr Full Lego Lime BMW M4 GT3 by lachlan cameron, on Flickr -

Hello All!! I'm very happy to share my latest Technic supercar design, the BMW M4 GT3! I spent the entire summer working on the chassis, trying to make use of the new Ferrari Daytona parts (rims, differential, panels) to create a fast RC design with full turning capability and full speed. My latest design, the 1:7.5 BMW M4 GT3! by lachlan cameron, on Flickr This build features 5 different suspension ride heights, 3 of which have torsion bar suspension, full RC drive and steering with working steering wheel and lights, manual option with HOG, door locks, opening hood truck and doors, inline 6 engine. BMW M4 GT3 by lachlan cameron, on Flickr I wanted the suspension to have an easily adjusted height, something that can be switched on the fly, and to be able to create a racecar stance, lower at the front and taller at the rear, all while being fully functional in RC mode for each height. My latest design, the 1:7.5 BMW M4 GT3! by lachlan cameron, on Flickr The new differential allows minimal friction, allowing this car to hit a very comfortable speed with 1 buwizz and 2 buggy motors. The steering is very nimble with full turn capability, and even more so with Andrea's brand new design - custom create rims that actually remove the brake disk from Lego and use his own designed hubs to sink the deep disk rim inward, while still providing functionality to the RC drivability thru the u-joints. My latest design, the 1:7.5 BMW M4 GT3! by lachlan cameron, on Flickr @snakeeyes_friex designed the livery, this man can design without boundaries. Honored he could help with this model and all the hard work. Thats all for now... more photos to come! Enjoy! Audi Avant RS6
Lox Lego replied to Lox Lego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It is very challenging to create front wheel drive with the massive shocks. The wheels would not turn, due to the shocks getting in the way. -
Hi Everyone! I wanted to share my latest build with you all, the Audi Avant RS6 - a special commission build! I wanted to scale the car to the new Daytona rims, thankfully the car itself has large rims from factory. I used Sariel's scaler for proper proportions, 29 wide x 74 long x 23 studs tall. The client was interested in a wide body, so I widened the width of the car to 31 studs, allowing for the large wheel arches. Audi Avant RS6 by lachlan cameron, on Flickr I was very grateful when I found Anto's compact 8 speed gearbox, I asked permission to use it in this model. It was low, allowing more interior room for more of a realistic back seat and rear hatch. Knowing the model was going to be quite heavy, I built 2 suspension hieghts that can be manually adjust by moving the shocks 1 stud in or out to raise or lower the car. Audi in the wild by lachlan cameron, on Flickr Next I really wanted to create a simplified paddle shifter, one that would fit in the 4 stud's of space I had between the engine and the driver seat. Building a robust framework around all the mechanics was the next step. Thankfully when using Lime parts for the exterior, I was limited with basic parts. This made sure I could make many different colour options for the car once complete; red, lime, white and black. The client wanted DBG - so with some modifications he was able to make the car fully with Lego in the new colour (not a cheap option by any means 😜) Audi Avant RS6 by lachlan cameron, on Flickr To add a touch of realism, I added lights to the front and the rear, really this enhances the look of the car especially when taking photos. All in all, it was a great challenge to meet the functional requirements and appearance to follow the real car in size shape and form. I was quite happy with the side mirrors and it was very fun to design the roof rack :) Audi Avant RS6 by lachlan cameron, on Flickr Here is a video of it in action, and a few pics of the final product. Baja Truck
Lox Lego replied to Lox Lego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hey all, thanks for the comments. As you all know I do like replicating the builds as close as possible, and going all out is a fun way to showcase the build. I feel this build had many interesting functions, and it is something I enjoy sharing with the community here. I also tend to create the fastest vehicles I can, so I was showcasing the speed as Baja trucks are quite fast. The L-motors are geared down and would work on grass, but did not bother filming it as I am usually quite busy with work and my two boys and don't have all the time in the world to make videos with every version of the truck. Here are some photos of the build without stickers, I was slow to share them but had planned too in the coming weeks on instagram. Below is the gearing for the fans, this looks simple but was quite challenging. I'm glad @Milan enjoyed the build, not sure why it would be such a bad thing for this to be front paged when it has stickers and is something I enjoyed building and was happy to share with this group. I am working on another build soon, I hope I can share it here without causing too much trouble. The Baja truck in Lego form is something I always wanted to add to the roster, and what better way than designing Ken Blocks Baja truck! This build started with designing the suspension, it had to be rugged and sturdy. I used Sariels scaler to define the proportions, and used the photo overlay technique to replicate the exterior. The real truck has 3 massive cooling fans behind the seat, so creating that in function and location was totally needed. It was hard to connect the drive all the way up to the fans, but did so with some U-joints. The same drive axle connects to the engine to power the fake V8 engine. To keep a lower profile of the hood, the fake engine was the only way I could keep the hood low enough to replicate the real thing. Check out the photos and video when you can :) The plan to design all of the functions of the real thing, fast, drive, working fans, custom V8 engine and steering, working steering wheel and massive suspension travel!! The Testarossa was the epitome of cool in the eighties, but fell into oblivion soon after. As a classic, it seems to be drawing attention again. youtu.be/ocPAiyWlidA This iconic supercar not only had to have the styling and looks of the original, but also that vibe, that Miami Vice vibe to it, a true classic Ferrari. The Testarossa comes pretty loaded with functions, Its RC with drive and steering with working steering wheel, and manual as well. It has a gear in the glove compartment that opens the front hood, two gears in the rear to open each door, openable rear engine cover, Flat 12 engine, working lights front and rear, some realistic suspension designed just as the original was, and the front shifter opens the pop up headlight in the front of the car. The real car has many flaws, one being the timing belt repair. It would require the entire engine to be removed to replace the belt, a 26 hour job, so I tried to fix this design with my model and made the engine removable in 3 seconds flat :) This build was especially built for brother in India, a very unique present as a custom commission. It was especially important to create this car with perfect proportions, which is extremely close to the real thing as seen below. custom rims by @technic.rims Sticker pack by @fwartstckr Epic chrome pack by bubul chrome! http://bubul.unasshop.com/Tunning-Pack-Ferrari-Testarossa-by-Cameron PLEASE NOTE! 1 Buwizz battery 3.0 are not in the part list! link for the buwizz! https://buwizz.com/?ref=15 Motor Options: 1. 1 Buwizz 3.0, 3 new L motor. 2. 1 Buwizz 2.0, 1 servo motor, 2 Large motors 3. The A9X package makes this Torana one of the most sought after Holdens ever made, with only 100 hatchbacks produced with the option. Let’s reflect Holden Torana A9X by lachlan cameron, on Flickr I’m please to show you my latest commission project for Erik Skriveris from Australia the Holden Torana A9X muscle car! Lox Lego replied to Lox Lego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks for the feedback TLego! Yes I can see what you mean about the front grill, it is a very prominent sharp edge where mine is sloping lower. Alas many angles meet at that same place and a small compromise had to be made. In regards to functions I’ve always attempted to build bodywork appearance over everything first, then functions second. I love filming moving MOCs so I’ve chosen RC over gearboxes as they interest me most. Thanks Peter, it’s been incredible working for you on designing this iconic supercar. Cheers ?! Some prefer a shelf model so it makes sense providing a manual option. No, but peter did have it in mind to make the DDE version from the beginning ? The greatest challenge was the hood. It had these complex lines to follow and I had only 2 studs above the suspension to work around. Building new suspension design again was the second most complex part of the design, fitting the massive V12 between the front shocks was an important part of the design - to mimic the real location of where the engine would sit. Thanks busterhaus, and no I generally design just 1 car at a time. I have one more Easter egg coming in the mail right now, so stay tuned as I’ve got one last insane mod coming soon! -
Sure, it costs more than a house, but the metal-melting aria from that incredibly operatic engine is priceless. The F12 is everything you could want from an Italian supercar. Power comes from a 730-hp 6.3-liter V-12, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic with rear-wheel drive. Even with all that power, the F12 is one of Ferrari’s more comfortable cars, making it a true daily-driver.
