[OL - FB2] The Crabby Cyclops
Admiral Admirable replied to Sparhawk's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Welcome Sprahawk! Nice job for a first ship! As for suggestions, they already are covered by Bregir. However I do suggest that you can raise the sides of the ship to around 1 brick colour. You can also try to make the colour scheme more consistent. I also recommend doing some research on ship rigging types to get a little more of your sea legs. However, it's always great to see new members joining and We appreciate to have more builds in the future! -

Marching On... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ While awaiting the return of Admiral Admirable, his 2nd In command, Commander Radcliff was doing what he did best; training the men, while it was mainly the Admiral that trained them, Radcliff was the one perfecting each aspects of their skills, from accuracy, to battle strategies, and this time, marching. He watched as he praised himself for "training the men extremely well" He continued to command his platoon until the return of Admiral Admirable... END ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hello all, here is my new freebuild. This time I decided to step outside and see if I could get any better pictures. Although the build itself I not extremely exciting, I just wanted a good way to showcase the amount of men I have obtained over the years. Heres some additional photos: Tree: Originally an attempt I made at creating a Lego Minecraft tree some time back. Minifigures used: I currently have 20 soldiers (left) and 5 officers/gunners (right) I admit that this freebuild for me was quite underwhelming . I was in a rush for time (seriously, I put this together in 10 minutes) so I can't say I proud of this build. anyways, as always suggestions and comments are always appreciated.

Thanks all for your comments! @Captain Dee Thanks for the suggestions currently I do not have access to a professional camera now, hence my pictures are not of the best quality. For the studs, I feel I quite like the look of LEGO studs. Although SNOT techniques make a build nice and smooth, studs really have that LEGO look. And I like to have my builds to have that aspect. But I will take using some SNOT techniques in consideration in the furture. @blackdeathgr Who knows? Maybe it was even built by members of even a different, older race? Anyways the findings will be researched on as soon as possible (When AA figures out how to get the carronade onto his boat). -

An Interesting Discovery ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The sea was calm. Admiral Admirable stood there on his ship, surveying the area while gazing into the horizon, when he spotted a small little spot in the distance that took the outline of a little island. This was when something strange occurred to him. Being the seaworthy man he was, he knew all his charts inside out, and knew very well that the area of ocean the ship was traversing had no islands anywhere around it. Running to his cabin, hardly noticing any of his crew saluting him, he briefly checked all of his sea charts and indeed, there was no sign of any islands, small or large, marked anywhere near where he was. "But these are Corrington charts!" He said to himself. "Surely there can't be any mistake?". Confused, he set a course for the small island. As the ship neared the island, Admiral Admirable indeed saw that the dot he had seen was a tiny island, merely a pile of sand compared to some other isles he had seen. A lone tree stood at the side of the land, but what interested him was that there was a torn down building and a small dock built there. Undoing the ships launch, he and his men slowly sailed towards the shore of the small island, unfortuantely with only one oar. Landing on the island, he realised that on this small isle was some actual loot that could be of worth. On the island he found a strange rifle with a mechanism that he had never seen before, ... and a barrel of blackpowder. But the discovery he found most valued was that hidden behind the moss on the building, was a... Giant 64 pound cannon, beautifully casted and assembled. Fond of his findings, he made a mental note to get his discoveries researched on as soon as he docked at port. However, there was one problem going through his head, how was he able to get the cannon onto his ship? END ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hello all. Admiral Admirable here. Here is my first Freebuild I have created for the Brethren Of The Brick Seas. Although my photographing skills are not great, I still tried my best to take a step from the last time I tried to do photography. I did also spend a fair amount of time writing up the story behind this build. Here are some additional photographs: Here is the entire island from a view, although I had to use the premade piece, as I had no other bricks to make a more decent looking island: View of the tumbledown area: Back, not extremely good looking from this angle: Other angle: The whole building can be entirely removed: ...Leaving the island looking like this: I had a lot of fun putting this build together! hope to see all of your comments!

Yes, rather. Although to replicate such a complicated rig in Lego would be very challenging.

Thanks for the advice. However I do prefer the look of a fore and aft rig and those were quite maneuverable and could sail at more points to the wind. Also, adding 1 square sail would mean I would have to make custom ratlines (I don't like the prefab look) which would be quite challenging. But anyways, I will try experimenting with it, thanks for the suggestions. I think the finished product will come out a little later than I expected. I have another FB that will come out tomorrow.

Hello fellow Corlanders! , here is a sneak peak at the bomb ketch I've been working on. Starting work on sails soon! Would like to see all of your thoughts and suggestions. And I do acknowledge that the hull design does look similar to the 6271 Imperial flagship, but I did make some tweaks to colour and parts.

Allow me to correct you, Bregir. A ship is a loose term describing a large vessel is oceangoing and can travel in deep waters. A boat is a small light vessel that can carry few crew and can be propelled by small sails or oars.

It looks quite nice! Hope to see the complete model soon! Maybe I should try to start up my old printer and try to print out some Corrington flags.

2016 LEGO Pirate Set Wishlists
Admiral Admirable replied to cullmancreations's topic in LEGO Pirates
Although there is no Wave 2 2016 pirate sets, The building community stands strong! The amount of great builds on out there are simply spectacular. Getting a "new set" can be as easy as hopping onto LDD and creating your own design, then obtaining the parts list and buying the list of parts on BrickLink. -
Thanks all for your help! @Bregir I don't feel you have embarrassed yourself. After all, its alright to make a mistake, and a forum is where you can always learn from other people. Anyways, her hull design won't be absolutely spectacular, as it is similar to the smaller Imperial Flagship, but I am going to put in a fair bit of effort for her rigging. @Maxim I Oh I see. Thanks for the advice!
