  1. Cogo brand blocks are just ok. Of the clone brands, cogo is maybe a three of five star brand. Enlighten is the best I've experienced so far (for those of you who haven't read my intro thread, my funds are low, so I don't currently have a Lego brand set, though that is soon to change). The aircraft carrier is neat, but fragile and I have to keep pushing down on some sections after each step is complete to make sure some things stay attached. Enlighten rarely has that problem. I assume the same of Lego. I can't tell you how. Excited I am about January and getting new enlighten and Lego sets. I believe I'm getting one Lego set for Christmas from someone, too. This will be the only cogo set I ever buy, though. I have a strong feeling it will be a pain in my behind the entire time I am assembling it. But I think ultimately it'll hold together. Here is steps 1-18 of 50. I'll post more pics as I progress.
  2. Hello! Welcome :-)
  3. Sweet
  4. I'm hoping I will. I think I will purchase a box of loose legos too. I think that will get the creative juices flowing. Though no one has commented on my collection thread. Kinda sad. Lol.
  5. I don't understand this. Lego is essentially a model. When people say, adults say, that they build models, they don't get judged very harshly. What makes Lego so different? It has to be because they market to young children, too. Idc. I love building. It's fun and largely self explanatory. I think it's excellent.
  6. I'm new to this, so not much, yet. But I do Lego for therapy as much as for fun. I'm bipolar and also have anxiety issues and find that building clears my mind and helps. My therapist, however, judges it as an unhealthy obsession and a waste of money. I find him to be a fool on this issue. Other than that, which I largely ignore, I only deal with a bit of ribbing from my family.
  7. How do you make Lego ships water tight?
  8. That's very interesting. I like the slanted window!
  9. Thanks for the advice. I have little experience. I've done like maybe 10 or 15 models. I saw how some of the pieces interact. I'm starting to see how to make structure strong with different pieces. I think after I finish my aircraft carrier I will understand more.
  10. That's kinda what I mean. I'm gonna be buying some loose bricks in the near future to do exactly that with. See what I can come up with. Lol
  11. That's awesome!
  12. That's really awesome. I'm new to Lego, but hopefully one day I'll be able to do something like that.
  13. I didn't even notice that forum! Thanks for the link.
  14. That's beautiful. Is a set or an original? If its a set, what's the set number?
  15. This is so cool! Very awesome!
  16. Does anyone know of any reasonably priced 400-600 piece sets that cost $60 or less not on sale? I could add them to my buy list throughout the year.
  17. Bart Toilet I gave my dad as an inside joke Snoopy Kungfu Panda Toucan bird Pirate ship (my favorite set thus far) Thor Spiderman Batman Mega bloks tank set Some kind of unboxed set I bought on offerup Unboxed #2 Monsters inc Yoda Mario Minion That's all I have put together. I have about 15 sets untouched and one, an aircraft carrier, that I'm building right now.
  18. Right now my collection is all non Lego, either mini bricks or clone brands. I believe I'm getting at least one set for Christmas. But I don't know what it is. That will be official Lego though I think. And I'm buying new real Lego sets in the new year. One in January and one in February. But this is what I have right now. Let me know what you think. Pirate ship Temple of Heaven in Beijing Submarine X wing I have more but it isn't letting me upload the pictures. Buckingham Palace
  19. Ooooh. I bet that'll be even more expensive though. Sigh.
  20. Welcome! I'm new, too.
  21. Well. It's short right now because I'm both new to Lego and short on cash for official Lego sets, but here is what I'm buying for me: Wall E, now that it is fixed The birds set Now, I know I want a building, but idk which. I'm going to give my parents a list of various sets at various prices for my birthday and let them pick. I'm open to creator sets, architecture sets and friends sets. I also want a farm set. I know that clone brands make farms, but I haven't researched whether Lego does, but I assume they do. My dream set is the death star, but the local Lego store informed me that it is soon to be retired, and once their current stock is gone it won't be replenished. That is heartbreaking. I'd never be able to afford it as a retired, overpriced set. I'd have to save for about 8 months as it is to get it at its retail price now.
  22. Awesome. I have tons of pics I'd love to share.
