Thanks guys. It turned out that Lego didn't put the EV3 on sale in Canada (or anything good for that matter, you lucky Europeans). Amazon did have it for 23% off, but I hesitated and missed it. I did end up pick up a Lego Boost for about 30% off for a local store for a few reasons: It's a lot cheaper as an impulse buy. Being newer, it's less likely to be obsolete. Hopefully, it would be compatible with PF2.0. It uses a tablet as its brain, thus can be upgraded easily. There's a python library for it, so hopefully, it wouldn't be limited by the app. My concerns are: There doesn't seem to be a comprehensive comparison between the EV3 and the Boost beyond the fact that the default app for Boost is simplistic. It's not clear to me how the sensors and motors performances compare. The PF2.0 ports don't seem to be stackable and the Boost brick only have two I/O ports, which is very limiting. There are conflict information on whether WeDo 2.0 and the Boost are compatible. Not sure whether the python library can drive all the functionalities.

Scaplers are typically only annoying during sales. There was a 60% off sales a couple of month back. The guy in front of me grabbed all the Rex's AT-TE sets (4-5 of them). I think Lego reselling is dead anyway for the more "sure" sets like modulars. The Pet Shop can be easily found below retail despite being retired.

Looks like the EV3 might be on sale this weekend, which is tempting. My concern is it's such an outdated chipset. Is it possible to run all the programs in a smartphone with the control brick simply to relay data?

My biggest issue is with the play of the back connection since the worm gear is slightly smaller than the space, so the backside wobbles around. Did you manage to fix that? Still my favorite technic set.

I am thinking about getting this set. I have very little experience with Technic, so probably a stupid question. Can I just replace the v8 engine with a XL motor to drive all 4 tracks with a servo motor for steering?

Thanks. The imperial flag ship was 29.5 inches (75cm) long and 23.6 inches (60cm) tall. Definitely much smaller (although the height is probably mostly the mast)

Based on the building videos, the destiny's bounty seems to be much smaller (40x12) than the imperial flag ship (60x16) despite having more pieces and only slightly lower prices. Could somebody confirm that please?

Thanks. Yeah, that's the exact problem. The worm gear is ever so slightly shorter than 2L so it slides around. I think I will try to change the pins above and below to make it tighter.

I just built this set and it's fantastic. However, I have one issue. The back section (with the digger) wobbles around for some reason. It has a worm gear for the rotation. However, since the space is slightly bigger than the worm gear, the gear can move without being turned, which means the back section has a lot of play. Am I doing something wrong or is there a way to fix this? Thanks.

Got my first bad experience on bricklink. The seller cancelled my order because he got a higher offer. Is there anything a seller can do in that situation? Looks like a seller can cancel an order at any time.

Any opinion on 42060 (Technic Roadwork Crew) and 42061 (Technic Telehandler)? 42061 is $10 more expensive than 42060 despite having fewer pieces. However, I do like the function of 42061 better. The B model for 42060 (snowplow) is quite interesting though.

Are those price error or something? I have never seen Walmart doing that kind of discount before. Last time they had a 50% off sale and my town went crazy. :) I wouldn't bother. You can get them from Lego with the double VIP event. That's 10% right there plus a free gift. 20% is the minimum unless it's a retired set.

I got 42055 from Costco for 40% off Lego official price. Not the best percentage wise, but it was well priced at regular price (4000 pieces with some power function for $329.99CAD), so I felt I got the most bang for my buck in this case. Of course, nothing beats 10697. 1500 pieces for $40 CAD. It's not on sale, but a ridiculous value with some fun built as well. Just shows you how much Lego makes off us normally.

Is Lego Crazy Action Contraptions from Klutz a good set to play with my kid (3)? Is it worth it to get two sets? Right now, my local store have a special buy one get one free sale. I was thinking about the simple machine set, but two of this set seem to have similar pieces, but much cheaper.

Any thoughts on 60130 Prison Island? I kind of like it being different from a normal police station (as well as the balloon), but it seems to be smaller than the other station sets with a single 16x16 plate.

this set must have mostly small parts. 60052 cargo train has a 100 more pieces, yet it's twice the size. I already got 60052, so I think I have all the parts to motorize it. The price is a little high in CAD, but with the double VIP and free gift, may not be too bad. Really torn.

I think the Vacation Getaways set is probably one of the best 3 in 1 ever being three completely different models . I'd even say it's one of the best camper and best yacht ever. The tree house was surprisingly good and light house was quite different with modular design. The helicopter was also good with linked rotors. So I'd say the summer 2016 creator line up has been extremely good. I don't think somebody needs to be a ghostbuster fan to enjoy the firehouse headquarter, arguable one of the best fire buildings ever, although super expensive (PPP is good though). The two cars were quite nice too.

Finally picked up Temple of Airjitzu. While 500 additional point is not as good as the earlier promotions, it's better than nothing and also comes with a classic knight's set. The problem is now I am wondering whether I should get Sensei Wu's dragon as well. The PPP and number of MFs are very impressive and it's qualified for another classic knight's set. But I am not really into Ninjago. Sigh... I hate lego. :)
