Have to admit this trailer didn't give us much...I felt the brief first Force Awakens trailer was better as it made you ask a lot of questions. This...not so much. The first Rogue One Trailer was also better but even though the final film was very good I was disappointed about a lot of the great trailer scenes not being in the final product.

I agree. The first series was very tight with only 13 episodes + the pilot, so I think 15 episodes is good. Hopefully no more space whales...
-
Agreed - I'm a definite for the Battlepacks and maybe the Tank and Vader Transformation. Nothing else is even of vague interest.

Back to actual set news...final images of the Bounty Hunter Battlepack to be found here: https://www.sinqel.com/lego-bounty-hunter-speeder-bike-battle-pack-lego.html

Thrawn the military genius fails again, He puts himself in harm's way twice in this finale, first by confronting Kallus and needlessly engaging in hand to hand combat and then by going down to the planet surface instead of staying where he was sorely needed - managing his fleet. He also foolishly entrusts a key asset (Interdictor) to Admiral Konstantine who has consistently proved himself a buffoon over the course of the series and who he has personally denigrated in the past. End result is they manage to destroy a few rebel ships but the vast majority of the leadership escapes. Kallus also escapes despite being handcuffed and under armed guard. The Empire is basically a Mickey Mouse outfit at this stage.

You mean the wave that sold out its run completely and never had a chance to hit the bargain bin? I'm pretty sure Lego felt the 2015 line was successful given they didn't exactly invest a lot of resources into it and it was a fairly limited release.

I'm almost glad when TLG release UCS sets like this because I know I'll save money. I'm mainly into bad guy stuff (Imperials, Bounty Hunters etc) and the only UCS sets I own are playsets anyway (Death Star, Ewok Village). This looks nice enough I guess but like everyone else I already have a minifig scale Snowspeeder and feel no need for a giant version.
-
It won't even take that much - she'll reverse the polarity on an Imperial mouse droid which will set off a chain reaction that destroys Thrawn's entire fleet, giving the Emperor a fatal heart attack and shifting the force back into balance (Hera is the true chosen one after all). I never wanted to see Maul come back but after 30 years of lusting for revenge after being fatally cut in half he went out like a punk in a couple of seconds. They might as well have had him lunge at Obi Wan and miss only to fall into the waiting mouth of the Sarlac...where he could have at least spent the next 1000 years bitching and moaning to Boba.
-
I wish they had left Maul dead after Episode I. He was one of the few saving graces of that abomination and his final duel and death was well done, so why they had to lessen it by bringing him (unrealistically) back I don't know. As a 12 year old I was peeved with what they did to Boba in Return of the Jedi but I still didn't feel the need for him to be resurrected either.

Given that IG88 isn't even a real minifig it would have been nice for them to include Zuckuss anyway...maybe they're holding him for a Polybag release?

I enjoyed last night's episode although I'm trying to work out why the Rebels used such an enormous ship to transport three people. The animation was top notch.

The last Pirates wave sold out pretty quickly. For sure it was a fairly limited run but I'm assuming it achieved what Lego hoped for. Conversely some sets from the initial Pirates of the Carribean range hung around on shelves for years. Probably why we're only getting a ship and a couple of experimental Brickheadz this time round.

I was a bit disappointed that some stuff I was keen on like Doctor Who, Portal, Lego Batman movie etc was only coming out on Dimensions as I don't own a console, so hopefully this means future Lego games will be available on the PC. The output of non-Dimensions Lego games certainly seems to have dropped off since Dimensions started so I won't be too sad if this means more resources go back into non-console exclusive games.

I was mildly interested in this set but after seeing the Australian price ($350), the lack of any standout minifigs or zombie shark, and that you're buying the shell of a ship rather than an actual ship means I won't be getting it. I like the tattered sails a lot but not enough to pay $350!

Isla de la Muerta, The Mill & Queen Anne's Revenge. I like them all well enough but the Cannibal Escape just resonates with me the most for some reason.

I'm not sure enough was done to show the turmoil that led to Kallus changing sides. He's gone from the kind of guy that would angrily kick a subordinate to his death to key rebel spy rather quickly, especially since his only motivation seems to be realising he doesn't actually have any friends in the Imperial side after he got back to his lonely quarters after being marooned with Zeb and being cold-shoulderd by Admiral Constantine. I guess Thrawn will either realise which planet the Rebels' base is from the deleted record or get it out of Kallus. I do wonder why they substituted another planet though - that will obviously be important somewhere down the track. I also found it amusing that no one decided to stop the Rebels escaping in the shuttle at the end. Maybe it's all part of the masterplan but surely it would be more efficient to capture and interrogate some rebels to get the base location then to keep letting them get away. Also did the Chimera troopers have unique unit symbols on their pauldrons?

I actually like the Cannibal Escape the best out of the 4 PotC sets I own. The minifig lineup is great (particularly the cannibals themselves) and I love the bone cage. My favourite build though is the throne - Sparrow looks incredible perched on that beauty.
-
The hooded figure is the figurehead.
-
Those tattered sails are a thing of beauty...and the minifigs are great...the printing on Sparrow's bandana is beautiful. Not sure if I like the "chomping" effect, but for a ghost ship they did a pretty good job. Where's the zombie shark?

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
TeufelHund replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
I meant that they tried releasing PotC sets aimed at kids but they didn't perform that well (apart from the ships, which did as well as Pirate ships usually do), so this time they are aiming squarely for the AFOL audience by releasing a single UCS ship. They're not going to release smaller sets because they know the market probably isn't there for them. -

Pirate ships must be consistent sellers for TLG because they release them on an almost annual basis. Conversely I remember some of the mid-size PotC sets from 2011 hanging around on shelves for years. They've obviously done the maths and decided the best way they can profit from the next film is by releasing a single UCS set. I think as an AFOL it's easy to forget that TLG exist to make a profit and that their main audience is kids and their parents rather than AFOLs. -
It could be the most beautiful rendition of a snowspeeder ever but I still wouldn't buy it. I'm just more into Imperial tech myself...
-
With reflection, it would have been nice if they'd put Zuckuss into the Bounty Hunter pack given IG-88 is more a collection of pieces than a minifig...
-
I think Rebels would be better served by shorter seasons (ala the first series). 20 episode seasons seem to mean we're often treading water with filler episodes. These can be fun, and even rewarding if they actual feed into later storylines (like when Zeb and Ezra stole a tie fighter in an early episode which turned out being pivotal in the series finale in Season 1) but when the main plotline of your episode involves saving space whales you should be asking yourself just why you're bothering in the first place.

I'll get both battlepacks (I'm presuming there won't be a lot of FO stormies in the Last Jedi sets so the FO pack exists to supply those going forward). Darth Vader's Transformation - burnt Vader would be the only reason I'd go for this as I have multiple variations of the Emperor/Vader already. Rathar Hunt - probably not for me but one of the kids might be interested. Quadjumper must be a joke - not sure how many kids will be clamouring for this set. I actually like the looks of the Freemaker sets particularly the Arrowhead. Not sure I like them enough to buy though. Hoping that there will be an AT-ACT from RO or a Rebels set or two as retailer exclusives. Cloud City would also be nice if the Lando figure leak is accurate.
