Troll Town [photos re-uploaded 04/07/2020]

The Cook, Do you happen to still have the LDD files for these wonderful creations? I checked on MOCPages but that does not seem to working. I'm generally a lurker but I love what you've done with my favorite theme and I would to see the designs so that i might try my hand at a few of my own. (EDIT: MOCpages looks to be back up so I will grab the LDD files from there. Thank you.) -
I’ve searched this forum but haven’t found the answer to this question, maybe it’s out there, but I can’t find it. So, recently I’ve been toying with the idea of creating a local LUG. I’m two hours away from the nearest LUG today and I’m very interested in connecting with others in my area that have the same interest in these amazing little multicolored bricks. Okay, with that being said, I’m very curious as to what others do at their LUG meetings and events. I’m looking for advice on how to begin this group and hope you all can provide me with some insights. If I do finally manage to get some interest and get a group meeting, how does one get Officially recognized as a LUG?

I like the mini-figures, the staging and back wall. The only thing I'm not certain of is the floor, it looks looked like water, at first I thought they were in the sewers.

I'm still interested in the head of this dragon, I want to know if the head is the same size as the 2007 dragons. They appear to have the same body mold, but the head on the 2013 dragon seems larger. I have a small flight of dragons from 2007 and I would love to have a few more flying in formation.

I read this and I just had to comment, maybe I'm poking the hornet's nest but being interested in mythology I have to note that like many of the ancient religions "gods and demons" are essentially one in the same. The Titans from Norse mythology, Hades in Greece, Pluto from Rome, Shiva the Destroyer of India, Seth from Egytpian writings and so on. Many of the ancients don't seem to see good and evil in such black and white terms. They tended to believe that each god had postive and negative aspects and as such rarely had truly "good" or "evil" even those that are typically considered good have some darker aspects. As for the crocodile from Chima, I just shrug, I'm not really into Chima and it matters little to me. Though I could see uses for them as some type of lizard race for my fantasy builds....

Review: 10228 Haunted House
Gatekeeper replied to mostlytechnic's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I bought mine quite a while ago and I love it. It's a phenomenal model and I haven't hard the heart to break mine up. I think it's awesome and I've had it up since Halloween. The price is really scary, but I found it to be worth it. It's my showcase piece and it's what people see when they look at my collection. -
For some reason this really made me laugh. Probably not what Lego was going for when the fleshies appeared though. I can see some rather risqué mocs with this theme.
-
I think that more of a personal opinion though. Some, obviously, share it but I don't. I don't really like the fleshies but I figure Lego is already a children's toy so I can suspend disbelief for a while.
-
But really look at the LOTR minifigs, LEGO seems to have been VERY careful not to include too much fleshie on these torsos. I'm looking at Frodo, Pippen, Thorin, Gimli and the other dwarf from the Warg attack set and none of them have on scrap of fleshie on them, which suits me wonderfully. On a side note, if you really look you'll notice that even the the torsos that are supposed to have "yellow" in the are slight different tones then the heads and hands. Because of this I haven't generally worried too much about it. I have a number of Harry Potter characters minding my taverns and their décolletage might be slightly different colors but the intent is clear.
-
I don't completely agree with this. The joy of Lego is that you can take those unique torsos and change the arms etc. to make any soldier. I have a number of Gimlis, and other unique dwarves that have integrated tightly into my Dwarven army just by changing things a bit. The only issues I have are the specialized headgead, like the "big stomach" beard. That's hard to use for more things than what it was intended for.

I thought the joke was pretty funny, and frankly I'm shocked that more people didn't see through the obvious facade. Those who were really digging into the American stereotypes made me laugh. Everyone knows we are a country of gluttonous, alcohol soaked, armed war-mongers. YEE-HA! :) Be prepared to be invaded!

Collectable Minifigure Sightings & Availability

The series 9 figs FINALLY arrived at my local Target. I managed to snag two heroic knights, two fortune tellers, one of the forest maidens (she rocks!) and who cyclops. Now, I need more of the forest maiden, let's hope that they get more boxes I searched all of these already! -
That looks really good. I just couldn't bring myself to dismantling the parts though..... I suppose that drops me into the "purist" category....

The Shopko around here gouged you for them. They were nearly $6 last time I looked for them there (that was probably around series 4). I would rather order them from Bricklink and pay their prices if I'm going to do that...... -
Nice MOC, the humor is awesome.

I don't know if the spider really needs color variation, but maybe a little dark brown would make her more "real". I'm not a huge fan of the completely tiled ground, but that's probably just me. I like natural ground to have some studs showing.

I have to say that's one bad dog. Our three lovable mutts generally leave my collection alone. Every once and a while though the naughty one will steal a minifig just for the attention. He hasn't damaged anything yet. But I try not to tempt them and keep them in a separate room that they aren't allowed in.

I'm still waiting to find them up here. I'm also in MN but we don't have a TRU near by. I'm hoping that the local Target or Walmart gets them soon. I'm chomping at the bit to get some Heroic Knights and Forest Maidens. -
They actually have the newer swords fashioned like the Heroic Knight in CMF 9. Perhaps this could aslo be to make them look more "good" since they don't have the sharp pointy objects.
-
Brickington linked this to the Castle 2013 thread and it sure fits right now. I wonder if it will play out the same way.
-
Likely it will be a Summer wave. That's when Kingdoms was released so I figure that's a good bet.
-
It's sad to see another black wizards hat, even printed. I really wanted this to have a red one, I am not about to import them they aren't cheap!
-
I see the Heroic Knight from Series 9 is a great influence on the Lion Crownies..... (Crownie Lions?) I like the figs. I also don't mind the larger set either. As many have said we need to see the price point. However, I can't imagine it's much different than the normal pricing tiers.

I don't mind the new design. I agree that it is not as appealing as others but new heraldry is always interesting to me. I have my wolfpack, forestment and etc. as certain factions within in my castle hierarchy. Another dragon will fill out the rebel faction. Besides, I love the Fanstasy era dragons and really won't mind having a few more. I'm not sure if this feeling is common buy I have a number flying about in my lego cave. :)
