Thundercats Art Director Thinks Chima Is A Ripoff
Gatekeeper replied to Suspsy's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
It's funny that this is mentioned because that's the first thing that I thought when I saw the first pictures. I didn't read any of the threads here, but I also don't think there is any legal standing for intellectual property. I liked Thundercats, back in "the day" and in its most recent reincarnation. Laval, looks a heck of a lot like Prince Lion o, but Lion o, is basically Prince Adam (He-man). Who was probably an incarnation of Sampson, or even Achilles or Hector..... Anyway, I digress. -
It doesn't sound like it. There has been talk of a possible Wolf Heraldry though. I think that pictures are too grainy to tell but one of our posters says they have seen the retailer's catalog.

I like to play with mine too, I wish I could say that it was with kids but no sadly it's just me and a wife who looks at me funny all the time. However, I'm restricted to a dark corner room in the basement so sunlight and heat aren't really an issue. I've found the most problem with just the plastic discoloring over time due to quality. Some of my collection is well over 30 years old and some looks good and some doesn't I don't know what can be done about it but I have quite a few white bricks that are now much closer to tan than white.

They were invading a foreign land, drank the water, got dysentery and didn't want to soil their pants as they invaded.

you know, I think it would be interesting too, but I'm just not getting that from those grainy photos. Someone mentioned that this is beginning to seems like a Rorschach test and I think I agree. Everyone is staring at tiny grainy images and coloring the interpertations with what they want to see from this new wave. I think we need better pictures.

I'm just hoping we can get some better preliminary images soon. I'm pretty interested in what this line will end up looking like. While these are only prototype sets they are likely close to the end product. I think that those here who said that it is likely a very specific marketing tactic to make Castle like LOTR but more kid friendly are on to something. That being said, the design isn't really that bad. The Kingdoms castle has many of those panels too, and if the castle turns out to be rather modular it will be easy to make it look any way you want.

I really like the dragon from the Fantasy era, I have a number of them and they are currently circling my lego space with their riders in tow. I would be very happy if lego brought back that particular beast. I also wish that lego would make a wizards hat in RED. I cannot order more from overseas because they are way too expensive and I want red wizard hats! The rest of the sets I'm okay with, I see that they are probably more geared toward a younger age demographic. That being said, I don't care, I like lots of the "young kid" sets. Dino is a my sleeper hit, I love those sets.

I agree, that crest isn't really what is remembered in the scene, personally I remember the ridiculous spurting of blood. I noted in the first post too that someone else found this first as it was online already. I can't really take credit for this just parroting what someone else found. But I'll admit the accolades are nice, so by all means you can continue if you wish!

No, the Black Knight doesn't carry a shield, he has very large two handed sword in the Holy Grail. According to Google (boar's head crests[) it is a common medieval motif, but this logo is so very similar, I can only imagine it's a nod to the great Monty Python.

I have found that I really like these Friends builds. The "Friendly Fire" Tank and this "friendSHIP" are just fantastic.

I noticed yesterday after randomly searching "Lego Knight" on Google. that the Evil Knight's "Angry Boar" is striking close the the Black Knight from Monty Python fame. Here is the Lego shield: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2586pb004 and here is the Black Knight's crest: http://www.delvedigger.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Black-Knight-monty-python.jpg I don't normally post so I'm not all that sure on how to link images etc. But I am pretty frequently on this board and haven't seen this thread before. If it's been brought up before please forgive my obliviousness.

I have also been messing with the moon base standard and there are a few others out there posting on BrickShelf and Flicker. However, it seems that Jon Palmer (I think) the man who started the standard has stopped posting. I'm also hoping that the moon base standard keeps up because it's nice to have a standard to take to LUGs and Cons.

Okay, I don't know why but that struck me as really funny.

I'm sad to see the legacy horse go by the wayside, but I agree that the newer horses look better and have better activity possibilities. I'm happy that the bardings and saddles will work the new horses, I wish that the headgear would fit too, but I don't have much of that so I'm not too concerned there.

I'm hoping that they treat LOTR like Harry Potter. When Potter came out, I believe, Castle took a short hiatus. Harry Potter was a "fantasy" set of the medieval theme. With luck LOTR will actually be replacing Harry Potter and a realistic castle theme will continue.

New Lego 10223 Kingdoms Joust Exclusive
Gatekeeper replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Were you looking for pictures or just which ones are new? My Joust arrived today and the only new parts on the Falcon Knight, is the armor, the shield, and the great helm. The head, and the body printing we've seen before. -
I'm a huge Blacktron I fan and I think that the Renegade (I have two) and the Battrax were my favorites. The Invader, while cool, just didn't really convey the awe that I thought Blacktron should. I do agree that the interchangeability lacked a bit here but if you modify the ships (which I have done) you can get around that. I am, actually, currently in the process of rebuilding some of the old Space Police I ships so they can blow each other up once more.

Lego has been saying that they are moving their production from overseas so perhaps that will help a bit with the quality of the battle packs. I have read information saying they are aware of the issues and are working to correct them. I would imagine with the "Pink Knights" issue they will be watching the newer battle packs. Does anyone know how the Pharaoh's quest battle pack or the new Star Wars battle packs look?

So, if we are first seeing the leaked images now does this mean that it may be slated for a June/July release? Is this the general way the waves are set up?
