Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion
Brickadeer replied to LEGOman273's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Well, I don't hope this will be the last season :) To me, TCW means a tremendous enrichment of my original understanding of Star Wars. I really hope that Filoni and Lucas will be given the opportunity to stick to their own ideas instead of compromising them due to external demands. -

2. and 3. No, I don't think the show functions like that. 3. I agree with Oky on this one. I don't think that the show functions like that, and I think that the likelihood that they both will be dead by the end of the show is pretty high. Fox is a much better candidate for an appearance in Underworld. -

If I remember correctly (I think it's on Wikipedia as well), Lucas said there will be at least 100 episodes. But I don't persist on being right about this -

I do not think that Lucas exactly *needs* the money. Everyone in the whole chain of production, marketing, transportation, trade, and all related branches has a genuine interest in making money by producing, selling etc. Star Wars toys, probably a higher interest than Lucas himself. We've seen sets from the EU previously, so it's not exactly new. However, TOR is a good opportunity to expand the amount of sets of this line. Besides that, it is in no way clear that season 5 will be the last season. I think that Lucas and Filoni are aiming for six or seven seasons. However, I do not know if the relevant tv stations can be convinced to air the show that long. -

Actually, what worries me most is the constant decrease in the number of viewers of the season premieres. I hope that there are no external pressures forcing Filoni and Lucas to end the show faster than they want to. -

1. This claim is risen pretty often. If I look at the people, however, who participate in discussing about TCW, there are no kids, only adults. So maybe this is not just a curious incident, like a bunch of people acting childish by watching a TV show designed for kids. Maybe the target audience isn't defined that narrow as to "kids". 2. "The Phantom Menace" can be interpreted in at least two ways: the Trade Federation's attack on Naboo was an event created to lead to a situation to allow Palpatine to become Supreme Chancellor. The "phantom" aspect refers to the fact that the reasons of the attack, the motives of the Trade Federation remain unknown to the Jedi. The title "The Phantom Menace" works on two different levels: the concrete, observable actions, which is the Trade Federation's attack on Naboo, and the more abstract level of its underlying causes, Palpatine's rise to power. The attack is a phantom, an illusion to the degree that it misguides action, that it focusses the Jedi's attention to the Trade Federation and not to the underlying causes of the event. And that is the point: apparantly, it's not so much about "the Sith", but only about one Sith, Sideous, while the other one simply doesn't play a major role. On the contrary, he was dispensable and exchangeable. In TPM, Maul clearly never was in the center of the story. In TCW, he is. In a series of episodes that is about the return of Darth Maul it is apparent that he no longer is dispensable and exchangeable, but has become a major actor and a center of the story. I think that's a difference. -

I do not agree he was "ruined" by TCW. On the contrary, I was a bit underwhelmed by Maul in the PT. He was a Sith Lord. Dark, agressive, and he had a double bladed light sabre. He killed Qui-Gonn - and than he was killed by a Padawan in a way Sith Lords simply should not get killed. If Maul was ruined anywhere, it was at this point; at least, that's my opinion. Well. Now we learn that Maul wasn't killed. Kenobi defeated him in the battle, yes, but he wasn't killed. When I first heard of Maul's return I found the idea, well, quite odd, but I have changed my mind and right now, I really, really like it, because now Maul has the chance to find an end that will more justice to the character he is and to his role as a Sith Lord. -

The only "spoiler" I saw so far is a statement of Sam Witwer who said that now, when Maul is so to say fully operational, he realizes the scope of possibilities; consequently, he'll be more occupied by exploring and realizing these possibilities and less driven by revenge. -
May the Fourth and now Revenge of the Fifth?
Brickadeer replied to mutley777's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I thought so as well. But currently I think that Maul is too important for TCW, so we'll see him in an official set. Of course it could still be a promotional minifigure, but I don't think so. I have no idea what it could be, though; right now, I wonder if it will be a minifigure at all. -

Hmmm...if I were to make guesses about season 5, I'd make the following ones: - Ahsoka will change, but not die. - Maul will be killed by Skywalker. Maul will be betrayed by his former master. -
Make the best of this opportunity, and don't settle for less

But that's what I predicted, so you could have prepared for this situation Personally, I liked the episode. Not as good as "Massacre", but quite good. I liked Maul as well. He appeared to be pretty powerful, and much more clever and experienced than Opress. And, of course, I like the underlying philosophical questions that became more apparent in season 4. Me neither -

Thanks. I thought it'd be likely that we'll see Darth Maul, however, this doesn't seem to be the case. -

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors

The point is that you didn't simply express your opinion. You could have simply said that you'd prefer to see a chrome R2 D2. Instead, you had to depreciate mine in order to claim that yours is the superior one, and that is the offense. Apparently you are lacking the ability to comprehend this simple fact. Otherwise, you would not use irony as a means to justify your inappropriate behaviour. -

Please keep in mind that "you" is not "we", that chrome C-3PO was released several years ago and that since this time, a whole new generation of children became acquainted with Star Wars. Re-releasing C-3PO would make sense because - it is the figure that benefits most from the chrome look, - it was released with a new torso this year, - the community is given a great opportunity to get a decent minifigure. Basically, you are tying to argue that in your opinion releasing a chromed R2 D2 makes more sense than re-relasing C-3PO. That may be the case, but it doesn't have anything to do with what I said since this is a totally different question. The arguments I stated remain true despite the arguments for releasing different figures, and that's why they make sense. -

Star Wars was aired on May 25, 1977. On May 25, 2012, it's the 35th anniversary. Releasing a new chrome C-3PO would make sense. -

You should not hesitate from buying it because you lack the money. You should hesitate from buying it because you made the choice to spend the money otherwise and would not allow yourself to be distracted by such ordinary things like price discounts on Lego toys!

Well...he was the Chosen One! Besides that, the appearance of Obi Wan and Yoda would have been unsatisfying. In the end, Vader made a choice, and prove had to be given that he made the right choice. -
Thanks! In this case, I'd like to promote a few sets that might be intersting for European customers in general: LEGO Star Wars 9493: X-Wing Starfighter - £39.99 LEGO Star Wars 7929: The Battle of Naboo - £15.99 LEGO Star Wars 9491: Geonosian Cannon - £14.99 LEGO Star Wars 9490: Droid Escape - £14.99 LEGO Star Wars 7931: T-6 Jedi Shuttle - £36.99 I ordered 9493, 7929, 9491 and 9490 for a total of £91.13, which seems to be a fair price (estimated on the base of EUR 1 = 0,83 GPD).

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion
Brickadeer replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Well...when I saw ANH and the death of Obi Wan Kenobi for the first time, I thought that's just the way that Jedi die. I never wondered where his body went because, well, he was a Jedi! When Yoda died, this view had not to be modified; Yoda simply vanished like Obi Wan. Vader did not vanish, or at least, we could not see, because he was hidden by his armor. It appeared never to be inconsistent with the previous deaths, though. Curiously, it was Darth Maul who broke this pattern. Maul was simply cut in half. He didn't vanish, but, well, simply died. Ok, maybe he did not. Maybe he was revived. But I do not think that a revived Darth Maul is more awkward than an Obi Wan Kenobi that has become a force spirit and gives Luke instructions what he has to do next. -

Do we know the quantity Lego sold of a certain set in the past? -
I have a question: Are the costs for "Postage & Packing" (amazon.co.uk, international delivery) the costs for s&h or are the costs for s&h added to the costs for "Postage & Packing"? edit: I think I found the answer.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion
Brickadeer replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Interesting. He cites incidents of "being alive" - opene eyes, movement - as causes for survival, while your daughter says the movements could equally have been caused by external factors. Since for your son Maul's survival is a fact, a datum that can be observed, he doesn't have to bother with the question how he survived. How do they interpret the role of Mother Talzin? Are they aware of the fact that she sent Opress on his quest to find Maul, and do they wonder about her intentions?
