  1. Erdbeereis didn't say that everybody has something constructive to say. Praise, for example, isn't constructive. The point is that it doesn't have to be: Anio is informed that the guy in question likes his build, which informs Anio's action to the extent that nothing has to be changed. You, on the other hand, simply expressed that you don't like Anio's build. That's not critics, but a simple rant: Anio is informed that you would like to have something changed, but his action is not informed, that means he doesn't know in which way his build could be changed in order to remove the aspects you don't like. In other words: you didn't give him the opportunity to evaluate the causes of your dislike and to change his build - if he finds that what you say is true or at least appropriate.
  2. None! But: Since I would like to get them in a non-TCW style nevertheless, that's precisely what I'm complaining about But maybe some of them will get a non-TCW style via Underworld.
  3. I would like to see the TCW characters with PT faces. I'm not sure though how likely it is that even the main characters from the PT will be covered. No Episode II sets were released for a couple of years; I hope that this will change in 2013. What is really maddening me is that we'll probably never see any exclusive characters from TCW (Rex, Ashoka, Ventress, ARF troopers, Cad Bane, Embo, Hondo, Mandalorians, Wolffe etc.) in the PT style.
  4. S&H - no, afaik. Official retailers - don't know. I'd probably go with Bricklink or "feel" the bags of one of your local stores.
  5. Afaik, sets aren't produced in one single country. Rather, sets contain pieces that were produced in different countries. The countries are enumerated on the box. As for the color/quality issue, you may find this thread of interest.
  6. I like it, and I'm not really worried about the feet. There are two things, that immediately caught my attention, though: For my personal taste, - the "shoulders" and "hips" are too close to the front/rear end of the body, though, - and the lower cannons seem to be too long.
  7. Weight (build) = total weight - weight (box) - weight (instructions) - weight (minifigures) - weight (other unrelated stuff). Very simple.
  8. As far as I know the main responsible person for the visual design Star Wars is the recently passed Ralph McQuarrie. My impression is that he was strongly influenced by the "pulp culture" that started in the 1940s s, like Edmond Hamilton's writings. I'm not sure though that it is correct to hold that he was influenced by how these stories were visualized. But I don't think that's really important for the issue at hand. Please do not get me wrong: I'm not arguing that Lego should not establish a new or expand a previous space theme. What I'm trying to argue is that it's difficult to come up with something that is an innovation, and that attracts potential customers. In this regard, Alien Conquest is certainly different from former space themes. To me, it is rather an expansion of the town theme than a "real" space theme standing on its own. For me, the Space Police theme is what comes closest to Classic Space so far. I like the figures, and I like most of the vehicles. I like your idea of a prison as well, basically becaused it can be expanded into different directions. (I would like to see more continuity between the Lego space themes, anyway). The advantage of a non-licence based space theme is that the designers are not bound to predesigned models. Rather, they can create vehicles and locations with various functions. And they can finish certain settings with a few waves of sets. One of the problem of Star Wars, on the other hand, is that it takes very long until a certain scene, figure, or vehicle makes it into a set.
  9. I don't find a remake of the classic space theme very likely. I like a couple of "neo classic" models, but I would never spend money for them. The point is that I find it really hard to think of something that the SW theme doesn't come up with. It has capital spaceships, small spaceships, different kind of speeders, dropships, dropships with walkers, walkers, animals/creatures/weird races, droids. After all, SW is the inspiration for all kinds of sci fi related themes.
  10. Wow! It's great!
  11. I re-watched the paintings of Ralph McQuarrie again. I'm a bit sad that his somehow wild, archaic, 1940s pulp-fictional style of technology that can be found in his paintings is lost between ESB and ROTJ, and is practically non-existant in the PT and TCW.
  12. Thanks for your review. Sounds weird to me; I didn't read through everything. The prophecy seems to have a couple of meanings. When Maul returned, he recognized that the force "is out of balance", which was explained by Opress with the beginning of the Clone Wars. In this regard, restoring balance simply means to end to clone wars. I think the point of mystical figures and events is to leave them unexplained. Otherwise, they are becoming facts, and by their very nature, there is nothing mystical surrounding them. For Lucas, the EU seems to create possibilities, while he decides what will be "canon", so I wonder what he'll have to say. I do not like the name "Abeloth", though. It's fashioned in a way that fits to certain demon novels, but it doesn't fit to Star Wars.
  13. I think that the fundamental problem to creating a Jedi Temple playset can be avoided by reinterpreting Order 66: it's not about eliminating all the Jedi but rather about capturing them: Jedi Temple playset - Jedi Temple (different locations featuring a secreting pathway/hideout) - Senator Oragana's speeder - any random speeder Minifigures - Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker (Sith, hood, cape) - 501st Trooper (2x) - Jedi Mistress Jocasta Nu - Jedi Younglings (2x) - Senator Bail Organa "Let Jocasta Nu distract Anakin and his troopers while the Jedi Younglings hide and escape hidden in Senator Organa's speeder. Let Mistress Nu escape via a different speeder." Something like that; I think the idea is clear. The same can be done with pretty much every scene of Order 66. It may be an interesting idea to give certain characters a double sided head to for TCW and the PT setting.
  14. My impression is that the front side of the torso isn*t chromed as well. Am I wrong?
  15. Thanks for your reply. I didn't get them in the same box. I got set 9490 2x. Every set contains 2 Sandtroopers. The 2 in set one had "low quality helmets", the 2 in the other box had "low quality helmets". Do you think it makes sense to contact lego anyway?
  16. Hi, I recently experienced the "low quality" issue when I got some of the new Star Wars Sandtroopers (set 9490) with low quality helmets and some with normal quality helmets. The difference in terms of beauty or "appearance" is striking; the low quality helmets simply look bad. The "low quality" issue doesn't bother me as such. What bothers me is that there is no chance to know what quality I'll get before I buy a set. That is especially true for such crucial parts as helmets.
  17. I just checked my phase I clones. It appears that roughly 60% of the helmets consist of the "less solid" looking material and can be found on normal clones and commanders (Fox, Rex, Cody). And it's not just the helmets, but torsos, legs, and probably arms as well. edit: I found that this issue was already discussed in this thread. The problem described there fits precisely to how I experience the issue. Plus, the test described indicates the same.
  18. Yes, there are at least a few from the OT. EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate Rebel Transport Mon Calamari Star Cruiser Since we've seen R2-D2, I expect that we'll see C-3PO as well sooner or later. Plus, there are several vehicles from the PT. The point is that technically, Cloud City is a UCS set. I think we'll see a remake, though, just like we've seen a UCS- and a normal versions of the ISD and the Corvette. Technically, 10131 is a UCS set, but measured by 2012 standards, the models are pretty pathetic. So to some degree, UCS sets are open to innovation and change. As a general rule I'd say that the more they are "playable" or "usable" for minifigs, the more likely is a remake. For that reason I think that it's much less likely that we'll see remakes of 7191, 7181, 10129, or 10134.
  19. Ok. I thought this is what it means, but the red on the ground biased my perception: I supposed that the robot was able to find a way around the laws in order to kill the man, that is, I thought the "red" was symbolizing blood. I still find it pretty hard to believe that the robot is not trying a way around these laws; I guess this stereotype is hard to overcome, and, as I've learnt, it's precisely why Asmiov came up with the idea of the three laws. So for me, the problem is not so much how you built it. The problem is that stereotypes of robots became so imbued to my perception that I wasn't able to get a fully satisfying interpretation of your build despite the express meaning given by the three laws. I still can't watch your build without thinking, "Ok, how will he do it (= work around the laws in order to harm/kill someone)?". Basically, I don't see a friendly helper, but a ticking time bomb, a disguised killer.
  20. The current state is that no such genetic programmings exist. Filoni talked about this issue in his latest interview, and it was mentioned in other interviews posted in either the Season 4- or the Star Wars thread. edit: With regards to Maul and revenge, I found a blog hinting to a quite interesting passage of an older (March 16) interview with Sam Witwer: "Large scale revenge" sounds very promising to me.
  21. http://starwars.com/news/clone_wars_guests_celebration_vi.html The Celebration is from August 23-26. So I guess we won't see a preview any time sooner or does it mean that he'll show more detailed footage during the Celebration?
  22. I agree. Though I like the minifig, I wouldn't pay that much money. I suppose we'll see an official TCW Darth Maul anyway, but if it should turn out that mutley777 is right and if Maul ends up as a TRU promo, I'll really, really appreciate that!
  23. It's not that I don't have faith. It's more that I don't know with whom I shall put my faith and with whom not You were right, I was wrong. Damn. I hate to say this sentence.
