  1. I have some questions about Avalonian history so I can put it into the wiki. 1. Where did Artorious come from? Like where did he invade from? 2. Is there a name for the world that Historica is in? Or is it just called "the Known World" like in GoT. 3. Is there anything outside Historica besides Varlyrio? I often hear of other lands. Is there anything north of Mitgardia? Because on the map, there is this section of land called the "Frozen Beyond."
  2. [The door opens, and a gentleman in fine clothes, suggesting his noble birth, walks in.] Gentleman: "Greetings, Master Gabbold, I am Sir Brandon of Avalonia, and I come for a room and a taste of your Dragon Flight Sampler, which I have heard tales of far and wide." Master Gabbold: "Well, you have come to the right place. You Sampler will arrive shortly." Sir Brandon: "When I heard tales back home, I expected this to be a lively place, but where are all the guests?" Master Gabbold: "Well, its been slow. With the current strife in Kaliphlin and Nocturnus, our roads have not been safe for travel."
  3. As announced earlier in my latest installment of the Avon Saga, I will be presenting some characters. Sir Brandon Historica_Character (1) by lego eomer, on Flickr Sir Brandon was the youngest son of a lord of a minor noble house in Avalonia before the Flight of Dragons. When Artorious Rex came with an army during the Flight of Dragons, rather than fight Rex, his father instead led an army to help the conquerors. Brandon himself led some of his father's forces. For his bravery at the Battle of Albion, he was knighted and awarded Acadia, a fertile piece of land in the north of Avalonia. Robert Historica_Character (2) by lego eomer, on Flickr While most who served in the Flight of Dragons have stories of glory to tell, the Flight of Dragons is nothing but a bad memory for him. During the war, he led some soldiers to fight for Artorious Rex, but his soldiers were ambushed. Only he survived. Disgraced, he now wanders the guilds, finding money here and there, and hoping to find a place where he can get accepted and a place he can call home once more. That's it for now. I will be editing this post in the future to add more characters. As of now, I probably will have my characters at the Grand Griffon, so if you want to talk to them, go there.
  4. After receiving some more money from the sponsor of his explorations, Thomas Sauveterre de Acadia has bought a lavish larger and newer house in the center of Breshaun. Once he settles into the much more comfortable house, he plans to make the first of his explorations into New Terra. Oleander_House (1) by lego eomer, on Flickr Thanks for looking, and I hope you like it. This was meant to be an improvement of my Oleon house, but I ended up making a whole new one. So, as always, comments are always appreciated.
  5. Short question: Would BoBS take place in the 17th century, or the 18th century? Because I see clothing and buildings of styles from both periods.
  6. Ononion was tense. Though the Oakwood Order was successful in the battles after arriving in Nocturnus a few days ago, his soldiers were not used to the swamps of Nocturnus, which rendered his cavalry useless. But he went too far to quit. They would stay for as long as they were needed. However, little did he know that this battle would change everything. Nocturnus_Battle (1) by lego eomer, on Flickr Nocturnus_Battle (2) by lego eomer, on Flickr In this particular battle in a shallow creek, it was clear that professional Avalonian battle tactics were no match for the savagery of the Drow, who were also more used to the land. Ononion turned around. A Drow sword slashed at his side. Luckily, he was wearing chainmail. Then, he saw the sword. A Hand of Corruption sword. It had a hook on the end, used for ripping up the chaimail. The Drow commander struck again, this time, he lifted his shield to block the blow. This time, Ononion slashed at the Drow commander, who lifted is sword to block it. Too late. The sword went flying, and Ononion's sword punctured the armor of the Drow commander. Unfortunately, he wasn't looking, and the Drow commander got up. With his little strength, drove the sword in the earlier weak point on the armor. The sword went into his chest. Nocturnus_Battle (3) by lego eomer, on Flickr Ononion looked to his left and right. Drow reinforcements arrived, and on his right, his soldiers were fleeing. He just sat back. There was nothing he could do. Avon would go to Adelena. He had good friends who could act as regent for the time being. Thanks for looking, and I hope you like the build. I did my best to picture a Nocturnian swamp. Also, I hope you like the plot twist. No, I am no leaving Eurobricks, or even Guilds of Historica. I have thought a while about starting from a clean slate. So after this build, there will be a couple changes. I will probably introduce new characters, and storylines. Unfortunately, this will also be the final installment of the Avon Saga. And lastly, don't worry, there is a chance I might have my sig fig resurrected or something.
  7. Here is my latest build. Marching to War I also plan to stop by in Cedrica and the Grand Griffon, so who else plans to be there so we can have a conversation? This will be my first time talking "in character."
  8. Sir Ononion was getting nervous. Nearly a week ago, he had gotten a message from Avon's newest ally, Shadowmere. The recently resurrected Lord Vladivus, needed help in the fight against the Black Spire. Ononion was nervous. It had been five years since he had commanded any troops during during the Flight of Dragons. Plus, Avon's fledgling soldiers, the Oakwood Order, had never seen a battle. Still, he didn't want to lose an alliance, so he gathered his availible soldiers, about 500, and sent off. His allies Drond's Fields, and possibly the Trifork and already arrived. Still, now on the road, he hesitated, and told himself, "What did I get myself into?" "Uncle, where are we," asked his niece, Adelena, "have we crossed into Nocturnus yet?" "Not yet. You'll see the change in geography right away." he replied. Ononion smiled. Her family was killed many years ago, and he adopted her. He ended up taking her to Avalonia, and during the Flight of Dragons, she followed him from camp to camp, castle to castle. It was exhausting for a child like her, and sometimes her shoes became so worn out there were no shoes left. He was proud of her her determination, preserverance, and she was proud of his successes. The two sort of shared a bond. Marching_to_War (1) by lego eomer, on Flickr Thanks for looking, and I hope you like it. As you can see I have significantly improved in presentation and detailing. Also, I have switched to a 16x16 plate for the time building, for the sake of quality vs. quantity.
  9. The wall and gate is simple yet beautiful. The landscaping is superb too.
  10. Welcome! My character is also a half elf. I always thought that the "common currency" of Historica was Gold Darics.
  11. Thank you for the kind comments. Thanks for the advice. I will give POV-Ray a try. The next thing I plan to build is my sig fig's castle. However, I can't seem to match the complexity and detail of your builds, like this.
  12. When we last heard of the city of Rivendell, also now known as Acadia, only the buildings near the walls were complete. By now, more buildings are complete, and Sir Thomas's builders have completed the West Gate of Acadia, the first of what will be eight gates into the city. The gate is said to rival that of Avalonia's largest cities of Sionnach and Albion. The mighty portcullis, one of the largest of its kind, was forged by the dwarven clans of Mitgardia, and costs a fortune. The residents of Acadia joke that the portcullis isn't meant to defend the people, but rather the people are supposed to defend the portcullis As always, thanks for looking and I hope you like it. Sorry for the lack of detail, I hope its size and the little detail of the portcullis makes up for it. Also, I can't really think of anything to put in the empty spaces behind the wall. Can you come up with any ideas?
  13. I don't think we're allowed to have nudity. Are we?
  14. Really cool build. Is there any way I can help Shadowmere? I have a detachment of Oakwood Order troops I can send you.
  15. Amazing collection of builds! My favorite season is winter, because they way you build makes the castle look very warm and cozy, especially with the feast.
  16. Thomas Sauveterre de Acadia has bought a decent sized house on the island of LeBellan, to serve as a base of operations for explorations in the New World. However, the house is in desperate need of repair, with the white paint peeling and plants growing on the walls. But after failing to make any good builds lately, I decided to give this a try. I have to say, my first build on here is pretty good, so I think I'm here to stay.
  17. I have a question. What does the "FB 1" or "CH 1" on the titles of builds mean?
  18. I totally agree that all the information needs to be updated first, but I think the wiki is a better place to learn information. In my personal experience, I spent about 3 months, from October through January browsing through topic posts, reading about every single page on a guild, and asking a lot of questions. Yet I still don't understand much. The wiki is a more organized way to find things, because it could take someone minutes to learn something while it look me months to learn something. This is also not my first experience with a wiki either. Wikis have helped me a lot in the past, so I think it will do the same. And about the "one year stands", of course we will get some of that, but after they read about GOH, we will also get builders who are here to stay. So please, I ask you again, don't let others go through what I had to do.
  19. I don't know if this is the right place to post this, nor if I am allowed to do this, but here we go. So I have posted this twice on Avalonia's page, and so far I only gotten one member to sign up, so I'm posting it here so people from other guilds can sign up too. What?: So the wiki, what is supposed to a source of information regarding everything about Guilds of Historica, hasn't been edited in like months, and only recently have I started to fix it up, creating pages for redlinks and undoing the work of vandals. My next task is to include info about the recent going on of Historica. However, I cannot do it alone, as I barely know anything about the recent civil wars, Book 1, etc. So I need help. Who?: I need your help. Anyone who is willing to dedicate some time, any time, to contribute in any way. However, I do need some veteran, experienced, users to help in writing Historica's history, both recent and long ago, but all users can help in their own ways. Why?: The wiki is meant to be a source of information. And it has fallen into disrepair. If we update the information, and expand low quality articles, other users might want to join GOH, because from reading the wiki, they might find Historica interesting, therefore boosting activity. Of course, we might get some one-year-stands, but there will always be users who are here to stay. When?: This project is meant to be a long term project. There is no deadline, as Historica is always changing. At first however, I expect there to be a lot of activity, but once the wiki is fixed up, all we need is activity once every few days, updating info, keeping vandals away, etc. How?: You can help in any way, from expanding low quality articles, to updating outdated information, to removing and/or creating pages from the redlinks. Any help is appreciated, as long as it is productive. So thanks for looking, and I hope you sign up. If you don't, it's totally okay. This is an optional project, so you can devote some of your time as you please. But if you signed up, thanks in advance! I will be posting a to-do list on the wiki as soon as I see activity.
  20. Thanks for being the first person to register. Remember, this is an optional project, so you aren't forced to do it. It is meant to be a project that you can work on when you want to or have free time. The reason why I asked for help is that I don't know much history about the guilds, so I need help. It's okay that you can't be there. Sure, a Drond's Field emissary is accepted.
  21. Here are my two latest freebuilds. Avon Saga Part 5 Avon Saga Part 6 I also have two announcements to make. 1. The wiki, once a source of information, has fallen into disrepair and has become the target of vandals. I announced this earlier, but there was less activity, so I am announcing it again. I need a small group of users who are willing to dedicated some of their time into updating the wiki and maintaining it. So who's with me? 2. I might finish my castle by the end of this week, so how wants to come? I'll try to include your sig fig if I can.
  22. In the days when Avalonia was still lawless, Galeran's village was burnt to the ground by invaders. The only survivors were him and his daughter. When Avon was founded, Sir Thomas learned of his story, and gave him a nice house on fertile land to start his new life. It has been many years now, and his farm is prospering and he and his daughter have left the past behind in favor of their new life in the land of opportunity. Today Sir Thomas, on his tour of Avon's farms, passes by Galeran's farm, to see the crops are growing well and he and his daughter are happy. Avon_Farm (1) by lego eomer, on Flickr Avon_Farm (2) by lego eomer, on Flickr Thanks for looking, and as always, comments are appreciated.
  23. After the founding of Avon, one of the first things Sir Thomas did was found a full time army. Before this, Avon's soldiers were peasants who would pick up whatever they could use and go to war to make extra money when it wasn't planting or harvesting time. The downside was that the soldiers were only part time, and were not available during planting and harvesting seasons. To fix this, Sir Thomas founded the Oakwood Order, an elite, full time, army. Before becoming a Knight of the Order, soldiers had to go through one year of vigorous training. However, once joining, Knights are well paid, but are not allowed to get married. Knights in the order wear a chainmail hauberk, and chainmail pants. Over that they wear a surcoat, and are armed with a spear and a shield with the emblem of a oak tree. Higher ranks are armed with a sword. Founding_the_Oakwood_Order (1) by lego eomer, on Flickr Founding_the_Oakwood_Order (2) by lego eomer, on Flickr Thanks for looking. Comments are always appreciated. If you look carefully, I took the advice of some of you and added detailing on the walls.
  24. I have a new build up. Who wants to trade? Avon Saga Part 4
