  1. I don't know if it is what you want, but the white knight in the original yellow castle actually had a cross on his armor and shield.
  2. Through my search for named pirates I have seen that pretty much every ship has at least some kind of name in one language or another. The only exception to this is the new Imperial Flagship, probably because it isn't in the catalogs.
  3. One should take into account that there is a lot of regional variation in equipment in the medieval times. The medieval time period even has different time definition depending on what part of Europe we are talking about. Most of the equipment that the LEGO castle theme uses has at least existed at some point. I have heard that the kettle hat was mostly used during sieges to protect the siege layers from all the crap that were being thrown at them. There is a certain Scandinavian influence on the Castle theme as it seems to be very fond of axes. We have Norman helmets, but we also have helmets of Italian types that the scorpion knights use. Some poorer knights might use older and cheaper types of armor out of necessity. In general any LEGO castle army would be extremely rich due to all the armor it has, and a few hundred years ahead of its time because of the uniforms. Not to mention the colors to dye the uniforms would cost a fortune. Also it annoys my brother, who is being educated as a medieval archaeologist, that the Vikings have horns and plate armor.
  4. I guess I can just go ahead and say that I’m huge fan of Avatar, it’s not like I’m hiding it with the MOCs I have been posting. It may be on the last page, but I like Aanchir’s little drawing, it’s a nice inversion of the usual reactions. Sorry about the bumping.
  5. These decals look very nice. I have played LEGO Racers a lot, so it holds quite a bit of nostalgia for me. Good to see that you're using Rocket Racer's in-game face rather than his uglier face from the manual.
  6. This looks like a very nice little igloo to me. Although Pinocchio might be on to something, it would be nice with some interior. The igloo looks large enough that you could put a sleeping bag into it or something like that.
  7. Since I have built a few different things lately I’ll just make a general thread for my latest Avatar MOCs. Let’s start with some better pictures of the ostrich horse. And a picture of Zuko and Iroh trying to escape the Rough Rhinos. It has actually been a few days since I built this one. Koh the face stealer. I have tried to make him rather bendy, which is accomplished with a few ball-joints and some hinges. The body can be a bit floppy though, and the weight often makes him scrape his belly on the ground. The turning radius is still relatively large. If he is going to be running circles around Aang, they will be rather large circles. It’s quite articulated, but balance and the fact that the technic pieces pull the selves of the sockets makes a little difficult to pull off some good poses. Koh’s head, closed at the moment. Remember, don’t show any emotions, or he will steal your face. Oky once wondered if I was going to build something related to Kyoshi Island because of my response to Aang not wearing any pants, now I have. The Unagi, the giant eel monster that lives in the bay of Kyoshi Island. Admittedly scale isn’t particularly good, the Unagi is actually a lot larger than this. My figure is though still large enough to eat Aang in one bite. At least Aang is wearing his speedo this time. I should probably get a new light blue marker, the tip is busted up on the one I used, so it’s a bit hard to be precise with it.
  8. Maybe I could try to improve the legs a bit; they are the blockiest part in my opinion.
  9. I know that they are rather blocky, and that dark grey would probably be a better color for them. But it is more or less intentional, because I had to build 5 of them. I don’t have enough spare dark grey bits to make five, and I made the design blocky so I wouldn’t run out of any critical pieces. I’m running a bit low on some grey pieces because I have a lot of thing built at the moment, the pirate things, the One Week house, almost all the avatar MOCs I have posted are all assembled at the moment. I was thinking about making the ostrich-horse dark grey, but I couldn’t find the piece that holds the tail in dark grey when I was building it. I do have the Prince of Persia ostriches, but I think that that combination would end up with a nice looking body and a really blocky head if I had to build it. I’ll see if I can make some more dynamic photos in the future. I already have a few other things in the works, but I didn’t want to flood the forum with threads about my somewhat amateurish MOCs.
  10. That is a very nice and, to me at least, realistic looking fishing boat. It would probably look good in a town harbour too.
  11. With all the Avatar things I have built over time I was capable of taking a few pictures of the Rough Rhinos in action. Ambushing Team Avatar. Sokka isn’t too happy that he has to leave his beloved boomerang behind, and that his sleeping bag has been set on fire. Tracking down Iroh and Zuko, traitors to the Fire Nation. Maybe I should make some pictures of the ostrich-horse on its own later. Yes, both pictures are rather similar, but the Rough Rhinos only appear in three episodes, and there aren’t that many shots of them all together. Sorry about the double post by the way.
  12. Oops, sorry my bad. I should have added Avatar MOC as a subtitle for the thread or something like that. Is there some way that the staff could help me with that? As far as I remember it's not normally possible to edit the title after creation. Edit: Maybe the Avatar wiki is of some help in this case: http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Rough_Rhinos
  13. Edit: To avoid confusion, this is a MOC of a special unit from the Avatar: The Last Airbender cartoon. I mentioned earlier that I was working on a project. Since I have now gotten all of the series five figures I was able to finish it. The Rough Rhinos. The Fire Nation’s most well-known Komodo Rhino cavalry unit. Colonel Mongke, Ogodei, Vachir, Yeh-Lu and Kahchi. In addition to the custom faces Mongke and Ogodei also have stickers braids on the back of their heads. But what would the Rough Rhinos be without their steeds the Komodo Rhinos. Au natural. Ready for battle. I deliberately made them simple enough, that I could build 5 of them out of my spare parts. The Rough Rhinos on their mounts, armed and ready for battle.
  14. Series 5 has shown up here in Kolding now. Do we have a decoder sheet for series 5 yet? I tried searching for one, but I wasn't able to find one.
  15. I admit that there could be a lot more buildings, but I settled for only adding a few of the more notable ones. It was in general just a rather simple and fast build. If I can find a few figures from series 5 I'll be getting on with another one of my projects.
  16. I took up a little challenge of making a picture of the preview image for The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra in my own style. So I decided to do in with LEGO. I didn’t make a sticker for the torso, mostly because I dint have a pen that matches the color of it, and also because there isn’t a whole lot of detail to ad anyways. Kind of hard to find a facial expression for a character you haven’t seen in action yet.
  17. Since I now have an internet connection again, I can reply again. I thought that this hairpiece would fit Katara’s fire nation hair rather well, it even has the bits that go over the shoulders. Most LEGO hairpieces aren’t really much longer than this one anyways. I do know that the actress that plays Katara is rather heavy looking, but the weight isn’t really placed around her waist (that one is reserved for Ty Lee’s actress), it’s more thighs, chest and face. I just reused my regular Katara torso as a shortcut. The Ember Island play is equal parts amusing and groan worthy to me. The Last Airbender movie on the other hand is rather stupid and kind of boring to me, even the special effects aren’t particularly good; ILM can do one heck of a lot better than that. Hmm…the 600 day siege, that sounds interesting. Thanks for the comment.
  18. Thanks for the comments. I tried to find a very manly face for the Toph actor, the hockey player’s snarl seemed like a good choice. The rock guy is actually supposed to resemble Jet’s “death scene”. The fez sounds like an interesting idea, but it wouldn’t cover the tattoo. I think the best piece would actually be a red or white version of the lawn gnome hat. I know the number of people in the audience is a bit small, but I wanted to post the pictures before my vacation, at least there are other people in the theater than team Avatar. It could be possible to use droid or skeleton arms because of the piece I used for the torso, but it would require some different brown pieces, and with a couple of extra bits the tiles can also be used as wings.
  19. It’s time for the Ember Island players. Probably the most complicated roof I have ever built. Quite a bit of room for the audience. I have actually made sure that there are stairs up to the “nose bleed rows” and that the roof can be taken off. Sorry about the picture being a bit dark. The important part of the audience. Unfortunately this was the best idea I had for Aang’s hat, despite looking goofy it mostly covers up his tattoo. The stage from the theater. The actors. Pretty simple figures, I didn’t want to use too many resources on them. The generic audience, among them 3 school children and a soldier from the live action movie. Bonus image: My attempt at a brick built Momo. He is a bit on the large side being almost as tall as a minifigure.
  20. I would say that Toph’s eyes are a very pale green. Green is a common eye color for earth benders. Although depending on what scene you are looking at they could look light blue or light gray. I vent with light green with no pupils for the figure.
  21. No, I'm probably not going to make a film. I don't really have any knowledge of how to make a film and I don't have a train to drive through the house.
  22. Yes, it’s Buster Keaton. It was mostly my brother’s idea to try and build this. It was certainly fun to try and make this build-by-numbers house that went horribly wrong.
  23. I should have included this shot from the start, but the picture I took yesterday was blurry and I didn’t bother to reshoot it until now. Appa actually fits inside the iceberg. Also I have tried to improve some figures a little. I haven’t got any ideas for Kyoshi Island at the moment; it’s just a reference to Aang’s “Where we're going, you won't need any pants!”
  24. So clear bricks would have been better? Well I have quite a few of those. The Boy in the Iceberg mark 2. Quite a bit of room in there, enough for… Appa! Yes, the way the arrow is made is stolen directly from the MOC Oky showed me. A bit blocky, but quite functional. All six legs, the tail and his head can move. Also as a little bonus, a little vig from Omashu. About Aang’s lack of pants, maybe he is on his way to Kyoshi Island in his mind.
  25. No, the title doesn’t refer to how long it took my brother and me to make this. I’m a little unsure of where to post this one, but I’ll try and put it here. The “happy” builder and homeowner. Finishing the chimney. Why is there a sink on the wall? Oh… How to get the piano in? Just make a hole in the wall. The house is built to be modular, here is the lower floor. And here is the upper floor. By the way, the house spins on the plate. So, does anyone recognize what movie this house is from, and who the homeowner is?
