After going through a few ideas that I didn’t have the right pieces for I found something that I could build. It’s a shirshu, or rather Nyla, the mount of June the bounty hunter. I will admit that it turned out a bit on the stocky side, and that the June figure is rather hastily thrown together. I’ll also apologize for mixing old a new brown on this one. You could just call it natural variations in it’s fur color. The legs and tail are articulated, although in the tail’s case it’s mostly because it was the best piece I had to attach it to the body. I know it looks a little strange, but this creature has no eyes. It “sees” though smelling, and quite effectively so. That brown and gray thing on it’s back is the saddle of course. And I’m just fooling around with the articulation in this one.

Uh, more MOC? I always thought that Avatar MOC’s were few and far between, I would like to see those. Oh boy, with those prices I doubt that I’ll ever get the set though a trade. As for advanced techniques, I have little experience with them, and I think that most of my collection is a little outdated for some of the more advanced techniques. I’ll see if I can come up with some ideas for further MOC’s.

Sorry for taking a while to answer, but I wanted to get the screenshots done first. The problem about those names on Brickset is that I’m not sure how official they are. The pirate label on the cook could just be for the torso type, the merchants from the Imperial Trading post are also labeled as pirates. One of the reasons I made this thread to begin with was to make heads and tails of what was official and what was fan terms. As for LEGO Football Mania, I have to thank my brother for taking these pictures, and playing through the game 3 times before that due to save errors and corrupted files. I sadly don't own the two Avatar sets that actually exist, so I can't mix flesh and yellow, although I probably wouldn't mind doing so. I believe the heads are bright green, the same colour as apples. I don't have any green Exo-Force hair, but I was aware of it being used for lettuce.
-
We have a winner! Yes, the middle piece is a misprint.
-
Usually I’m not the one who makes vigs, I’m more of a larger table setup fan, but I got the idea for this one after getting some new pieces. I hope someone remembers the unlucky cabbage merchant that became a bit of a running gag though out the series. I thought those green heads would make some fine cabbages. It only took a handful of minutes to build.
-
No, that's just the lighting. Maybe no one can spot it because the parts are rather rare...
-
I do not own the Diagon Ally, so I can't help you with the first question. But I do think that LEGO stores sell exclusives, at least the one in Copenhagen I visited a few days ago had numerous old and new exclusives on the shelves.
-
Maybe I should have been a little more specific, although it is true that there aren't any stairs up to the chest. I ment on the outside of the castle:
-
Those Carrying thrones, or whatever they may be called, are actually based on an old alternative model from Knight's Joust 383. Nobody who has any guesses on what may be odd about the right side of the castle?

Ok, so we got through LEGO Football mania, unfortunately there were some technical problems so we couldn’t save properly. There are 3 full teams of 6 players each in the game that is made up of pirates. Each of the teams does more or less have uniforms. The first team has blue and white striped tank tops, blue pants and red bandanas, except for Nautical Nina who wears white pants, a white shirt, has red hair and an eye patch. Faces varies between figures. Shipshape Shipmates: Jack the Mop Nautical Nina Port Starboard Tom Scrub Simon Stripes The next team is a crew of skeletons, they all look the same, white skeleton with black bicorn with Jolly Roger on it, except the goalie who wears an eye patch with a Jolly Roger on it. Pirate Skeletons: Captain Click (is this the same Captain Click as the one from LEGO island?) Skelly Bones Dim Dem Bones Tom Tin-Ribs Spooky Skelly Norris Nobbles The last pirate team wear blue jackets, white pants and brown tricorners, except for Captain Redbeard who looks like he usually does except for no epaulets and a small red feather in his hat. Tricorner Pirates: Captain Redbeard Bluebeard Yellowbeard Greybeard Whitebeard Greenbeard I would like to give a more thorough description of them, but I’ll have to get over the technical difficulties first. Also plenty of names for other themes. Gamefaqs has a name list if you’re curious.

Well, don’t thank me too much, thank the people who have contributed the information though the last few pages. Funny thing about Anne and Bessie, they may not be the same character, but Ann is actually supposed to be Bessie’s daughter according to an earlier post. As for the new guards: 1) I’m just using the set descriptions found on Brickwiki and Brickset, I think they are copies of the set descriptions on LEGO’s own site. Just trying to keep the sources more or less official. And yes, captain seems a bit low a rank for someone who is in charge of the biggest LEGO pirates ship ever. 2) That is a thing that could be up for debate. He could be a pirate, he could be a soldier, or he could be a neutral sailor. It’s all left unclear. The old flagship has the same problem with a figure that could just be a sailor or a prisoner. But for the sake of the list I put him among the soldiers; he is at least employed as a cook by them apparently. More international names are always interesting, although I’m fairly fluent in German, I’m not sure if Knoest has a special meaning, I’ll try and look it up. My brother and I are working on gathering more names. We have just bought LEGO Football Mania, and we have so far unlocked one pirate, or sailor, team already. So there might be coming quite a few more names soon.

I’ll already apologize for the double posting and the bumping, but since people are actually using this thread as a source for names I guess it would be a good idea to make an somewhat updated list of the figures from the pirates and Pirates of the Caribbean themes that have been given names with some sources on where the names come from. Yes Uhu is the male islander in LEGO Racers. Here is a picture from the level selection. And here we have him in the game, I hope you can at least see his face paint Here is the list of the competitors from the Danish version And here we have the same list in the English version where he is just called islander I hope this clears things a bit up.
-
So far I must say that these overviews of the pirates theme have been an enjoyable real. It is also nice to see that people use my “named pirates” thread, but I’m not too happy that it is spreading false information. I have said it before, Uhu is NOT the princess, Uhu is the MALE islander figure, like the one from Crocodile Cage, in LEGO Racers. Maybe I should get a few screen grabs to illustrate it. The female islander is not even in LEGO Racers, you can’t build her.

Do you "correct" sets as you build?
Runamuck replied to Siegfried's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I can only think of one set where I mirror something consistently, the small Viking boat 7016. I mirror the steering oar, it’s on the left side in the instructions, I put it on the right side. It is not named starboard for nothing after all. There might be a few other sets where I do some minor tweaks, but I can't think of any other at the moment. -
Thanks for the replies so far. About those classic red and gray knights, I have not purposefully army build them. Call it dumb luck, but I got them in a really large lot, two big boxes in fact, at a flea market along with many other sets from the 70’s and 80’s. Anyway, let’s continue with the town wall that my brother has built. The gate building Backside completely locked down http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/4931/img0321zn.jpg The wall with towers http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/5873/img0316yp.jpg The other wall, as you can see it is built to be compatible with the Armor Shop (6041) http://img852.imageshack.us/img852/2599/img0317x.jpg And now for the Black Knights castle. With figures Without figures http://img860.imageshack.us/img860/116/img0326j.jpg Inside the gate http://img854.imageshack.us/img854/1485/img0327d.jpg The “left” side, the string is for the gate mechanism, it’s inspired by King’s Castle (6080) http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/2114/img0328v.jpg Backside http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/6840/img0329hn.jpg It even opens like some of the old-school castles do The interior of the “right” side of the castle. It’s a little place for the soldiers to get a drink and play cards, and a place for the horses to get something to eat. The outside of the “right” side of the castle. Can anyone spot what’s wrong here? http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/3816/img0336mz.jpg

Yes, I'll get back to that with some pictures after a few more comments. It's actually my brother who build the wall around the town.

OK, so this is the first time I’m trying this, so there might be a few things that could use some refinement. I have created a little village for my castle setup, a castle for the Black knights and a few other things. A little overview of the village Again from a different angle http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/2848/img0273o.jpg The windmill, build by my brother, who has also taken all the pictures. It is loosely based on a design from one of the old idea books, but we improved it a little. The internal mechanics, the stone actually turns when the wings spin http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/8757/img0285xq.jpg The tavern Interior Close-ups of the upper and lower floor http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/6316/img0294rg.jpg http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/8287/img0295pe.jpg A little town house Interior http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/9293/img0301bi.jpg The blacksmith’s workshop Upper and lower floors http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/7659/img0305sn.jpg http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/9902/img0306qr.jpg Well….it’s the well The church I thought this was a good place to use this window http://img847.imageshack.us/img847/5158/img0311g.jpg Interior http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/5713/img0312al.jpg I’ll save the town wall and the Black Knight castle for later. Sorry about some of the pictures being a little blurry, but I hope you can make out the most important things.

Look what I just got - Report your latest Pirate LEGO acquisitions
Runamuck replied to V()()D()()'s topic in LEGO Pirates
I had just gotten the last pieces to buil 6259 Broadside's Brig, so I did. -
Sorry about the self advertisement, but this thread also includes Imperials: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=50788 Although I think that you have already nailed most of them. There are a few from Pirates of the Caribbean who could count like Norrington or Barbossa as a privateer.
-
Sorry for not replying any sooner, but I had a written assignment that had to be done, and a computer that more or less died. It's nice to see how people remember this thread, and how more names are emerging. New names this time: Squawks Coco Skully George (pirate) George (skeleton) POTC: Phillip Scrum Syrena Tamara Davy Jones (game) Pintel (game) Ragetti (game) Governor Weatherby Swann (game) Anamaria (game) Marty (game) With the game advertising saying that it will have more than 70 characters I guess this list will become a lot longer. I'm rather curios about those comics whit the Red Beard Runner since I actually own the set, was the George guy one of the two figures from the set that haven't been named yet? Maybe I should make a second list of those character that only are called by a title or profession. I mean among the newer pirates we have the governor, the captain and the admiral being thrown around by both fans and official sources, in the POTC sets we have titles like quartermaster, gunner zombie, chef and horse coach driver. Btw. I'm a little disappointed how Pintel apparently looks in the game, the torso is spot on, but his head is nowhere nearly ugly enough.

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Runamuck replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
I'm not sure, maybe he was on the pearl when he and Jack were discussing how Jack could pay Jones in souls other than his own. There was also something about a spyglass and some teleporting. My memory could be wrong on those though. -
By chance I found the castle Brickmaster book today. The old fantasy one with the crown knights and the skeletons.
